Chapter 9 – Hey, classmate, don’t you know that if you act like this, you’re not going to have any friends! (2)
Lin Yiyi had also noticed that every child that had come out of Meng Yuran’s classroom were all sneakingly looking at her. She gently smiled at them. Overwhelmed and flattered by the smile, the children ran off.
She had no idea what was going on in these children’s heads. She had a similar face to Meng Yuran, and he was a person who his classmates had never seen smiling so amicably.
Lin Yiyi: Being a parent that was popular with his classmates would give her son face. This was a great opportunity for improving her favorability with him!
She waved at Meng Yuran. Seeing him coming out into the hallway, she approached him so they were standing close to each other. “Are you going to the cafeteria to eat lunch?”
“En,” assented Meng Yuran. He slightly frowned. Should he ask her if she wanted to go to the cafeteria with him…
But, a parent had never eaten at the school cafeteria before.
Lin Yiyi took her hand out from behind her back and slightly shook the lunch box she was holding. “I brought you lunch. You can treat this as an extra meal, but there’s a little bit too much food. You can eat it with your friends.”
This time, Meng Yuran was truly shocked.
His gaze was riveted on the pink cherry blossom lunch box that she was holding. He remained silent.
Lin Yiyi didn’t think anything of it. Anyways, this child had an awkward personality, so she simply grabbed his hand and put the handle of the lunch box in his hand. “I don’t know if you’ll like this. Mom recently learned how to cook these dishes from online recipes. You’ll be the first one to taste this food for me. After you eat this food, don’t forget to tell me your opinion.”
After saying this, she waved goodbye and left. She didn’t seem reluctant to leave. It seemed that she had only come here to bring him lunch.
Meng Yuran watched as her figure gradually grew distant. A long time later, he finally walked towards the cafeteria.
He didn’t know why, but the lunch box in his hand felt heavy. It felt a bit hot too…
This was the first time his mother had made him lunch…
This feeling… it wasn’t bad.
“Dang! Meng Yuran, you just smiled!”
Meng Yuran’s desk-mate had just finished getting his food. Holding a plate full of food, he came out from the crowd and saw that Meng Yuran’s lips were curved upwards. He was shocked. “Is there something wrong with my eyes? You know how to smile?”
Meng Yuran pursed his lips, swept his gaze over him, and silently found a seat to sit down in.
Xu Jie eagerly followed after him. Putting down his plate, he saw his desk-mate opening up a girly lunch box.
The lunch box was divided into three layers with the two bottom layers slightly deeper. The top layer was rice, the middle layer was three side dishes separately packed, and the bottom layer was fish and tofu soup that had been slowly cooked until it was milky white.
Looking at the three side dishes again, he saw glistening red sweet-and-sour pork ribs, fresh, delicate, and radiant shrimp with vermicelli noodles and garlic, and shepherd’s purse and green soy bean salad with dressing.
It could be said that all of the food looked quite very good. Just looking at it would make people drool with hunger.
Xu Jie silently swallowed his saliva. Then, he looked down at the food on his plate.
Compared to Meng Yuran’s food, his food look like food for pigs!
In a good mood, Meng Yuran picked up a piece of sweet-and-sour pork rib and started eating it. It tasted even better than he had imagined.
He had already discovered something this morning when he was eating the breakfast that his mother had cooked. Although his mother never cooked, she was probably naturally talented at cooking. Her cooking wasn’t any worse than Aunty Chen’s cooking.
Although he didn’t want to admit it, he had been holding some expectations before trying the food.
“Umm… Meng Yuran…”
Xu Jie was holding the tips of his chopsticks in his mouth. He longingly looked at his desk-mate. “Does it taste good? How about… How about I try some for you?”
It looked so yummy!
The little desk-mate almost couldn’t stop himself for putting his chopsticks into the food that was in front of him.
Meng Yuran returned to his senses. He coldly said, “Scram.”
Hey, classmate, don’t you know that if you act like this, you’re not going to have any friends! – Thought the miserable desk-mate.
