The Vampire King's Pet-Chapter 295: Final goodbye
"How do you feel?" Drehk asked the moment Rymora settled into the carriage with him beside her. His tone was deceptively calm, as though he hadn’t already sensed her tension. He did not forget—nor did she—that he was already aware she was carrying his child.
Instead of answering, she glared at him in silence.
The reaction only made him lean closer, brushing a kiss against her cheek. She turned her face away, but that only resulted in his lips finding the back of her neck instead. The warmth of his breath sent an unwanted shiver down her spine.
The kisses lingered, slow and deliberate, until she finally spoke.
"You actually want me to have your child?" she asked, half hoping for an answer and half hoping he would stop.
They were heading into werewolf territory, where she was bound to meet her family if all went well. They knew she was a spy and wouldn’t betray her, but things would be much worse if they smelled a vampire on her. Worse still if they sensed intimacy clinging to her skin—especially tied to the vampire beside her who seemed unwilling to let her go.
"If you could carry two at once, that would be better," he murmured near her ear, his voice hoarse with unmistakable intent as the carriage continued to roll forward.
"Not here. Moreover, it’s not good for the baby," she said sharply.
Instead of arguing, Drehk nodded, his expression softening into something almost doting. He leaned back slightly, making it clear he wouldn’t push further—for now.
As he did, Rymora turned to look at him, unsurprised to find his red eyes already fixed on her.
Her furry ears remained hidden, her eyes still brown, something she was thankful for even after awakening her werewolf nature. She assumed it was a side effect of living so long without it fully awakened.
"I like the way you look at me," he whispered.
Rymora stared harder, unable to shake the growing sense of dread in her chest. It felt as though things were changing, slipping beyond her control whether she wanted them to or not.
For all she knew, this might be the last time she saw him. She had no intention of returning to the vampire realm and every intention of disappearing into one of the human cities once she had the chance. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
She leaned closer, climbing onto his lap with deliberate resolve. Her hands rested at his waist, her movements slow and intentional, her breath steady even as his quickened.
"We can’t go all the way," she murmured softly, "but we can do this..."
She didn’t finish the thought.
His lips met hers with sudden urgency, cutting her words short. The world narrowed to the confined space of the carriage, the sway of movement, the heat between them.
It was a farewell wrapped in closeness, a final offering for what he had unknowingly given her—the child she already claimed as her own, her family, and no one else’s.
Not even his.
***********
The entire entourage was long and the number was a lot. Coupled with servants and slaves that were taken along side the vampire soldiers and the Werewolf ones.
It was a lot of men and women and even some nobles chose to come along especially since it was determined that instead of passing through the dark forest filled with beasts monsters, the werewolf king would be taking them through a secret passage which was much safer all be it a little longer.
The journey took at least two days in which the entire crew only stopped once to allow the horses to rest before they continued.
The closer they got to the werewolf realm, the more agitated King Jared seemed as he sat in his carriage sending messages through the servants who also had their own carriages but intermittently came down to do the bidding of their masters.
It took a while until finally they all got to the border of the werewolf realm and simply from the smell in the air it was clear that something was terribly wrong.
Werewolf’s were particularly great with smells as they all instantly jumped out of the carriages and shifted heading straight to the cities without any hesitation whatsoever.
Discarding their beautiful garments and clothes without a second thoughts as they ran for the tall and mighty gate that encamped the huge main city where the all lived but in packs.
The smell of blood in the air was extremely heavy in a way that the vampires also had no problems picking it up . But unlike the werewolves that bolts the second they got to the border abandoning their horses, Zyren gave the order for the vampires not to do the same.
Ordering them to get into the carriage and drive forward instead with a nonchalant expression on his face and his tone matched how he felt.
Reviving their instructions none of them dared to go against Zyren and what he instructed them to do which they instantly followed regardless of how curious they were.
Still they urged the driver of the horses urged the horses forward as fast as they could even as the vampires were curious to find out what had happened.
Aira who sat in the carriage was just as curious even as she folded her hands on her laps and patiently waited.
Her heart racing as she wondered if things were already going wrong even before they arrived. It didn’t help that Zyren had barely moved aware from her a while ago. Enough that she could still feel some hints of his seed between her legs even after she did her best to wipe it off.
She tried to look calm but she wasn’t aware that if ever Zyren was to die it was at the werewolf realm and no where else.
But it wasn’t my until she got down from the carriage after they all made it through the gates that her mouth finally dropped open, her heart racing in her chest as she took in the horror in front of her which seemed to take all she had to not gasp.
The kind of horror one found hard to imagine unless it wasn’t presented before one’s own eyes.
