The Vampire King's Pet-Chapter 283: Why now?
Rymora didn’t hesitate to do as she was told. Going over to inform the guards even as she watched them go ahead to head off to get Liora, since that was what Aria wanted.
But instead of heading back to meet Aria, Rymora stood by the gates staring out through them in silence. The sun was already beginning to shine and the security at the gate was much more intense than usual.
Only made worse by the servants that were killed and whose bodies were hung up for all to see in the most horrific manner ever. Rymora stood there even as she watched people go through multiple security checks which probably meant nothing since the shape-shifting monsters could be hiding among them.
Rymora knew that leaving the castle, which was the safest place in the kingdom, would help her get away from Lord Drehk, but at the same time it also meant putting her life in danger since although she could barely hold her own against a single Zygon, she knew that there was no way she could do so against multiple ones.
Moreover, it helped that her mistress had the ability to point them out.
’Even if I’m with child, it will take a while before it begins to show!’ she thought to herself, aware that human pregnancy took the longest. Werewolves took only about 5 months while vampires took roughly the same time period.
Even as a deep frown settled on her face, it was all she could do not to suddenly head out the gate and disappear, aware that the longer she took, the more Lord Drehk could set up traps to prevent her from leaving.
Slowly, Rymora turned around to leave, only to pause even as she glanced back, heading in the direction of the gate the next second, unwilling to leave things be until she had confirmed something.
Bringing out her identification as a royal maid even as she moved to step out, but she had just taken two steps through the entrance when someone stepped in her path. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
It was two guards with another two guards who had appeared.
"Lord Drehk has directed that he be informed of your movements!" the guards at the gate said even as the two behind her spoke too, "...we’ve also been instructed to follow you once you step outside the castle walls," one of them spoke up.
Their uniforms showed that they were elite royal guards and not the ones without class.
Her heart had been steady before, even as it raced as she stared at them in silence. Turning around inward towards the castle made it clear that she was no longer leaving.
But although they didn’t follow her, Rymora wasn’t stupid enough to think that they wouldn’t do so. ’This means that I can’t even transform,’ she realized, aware that Lord Drehk had no idea that she was actually a werewolf, information that she was yet to tell him.
Even as she headed back to Aria’s room, all she could think was whether or not to tell him. ’The king knows and he hasn’t killed me,’ she thought, only to kill the thought as she recalled that Aria had definitely done something to protect her, but that didn’t mean that she would be able to protect her child.
’Who in their right mind would allow a monster to live?’ she thought to herself, aware that it was what the baby would be seen as by both vampires and werewolves alike.
Rymora got back to Aria’s room and was instantly let into the room as she informed Aria that she had sent for Liora like she had asked. Which wouldn’t take long since the guards would instantly bring her the second she was found.
Aria simply nodded her head, having taken her bath and changed into another outfit that did not show signs that it had been messed with and rumpled together with someone on top of her.
Her face also looked much calmer than it previously did as she sat by the mirror nodding her head, even though her eyes made it clear that her mind was lost and mostly somewhere else.
Rymora also stood mostly in silence, simply helping Aria with whatever she needed even as they both waited for Liora to arrive, which didn’t take long.
Rymora wanted to step out the second Liora stepped in and close the door behind her, only to hear Aria order her to shut the door in a way that made it clear that she was to stay.
To Aria, Rymora was a werewolf who hated Vampires and a spy to boot. Them discussing Zyren’s death wasn’t a bad thing and something she could contribute to.
Liora though seemed displeased by Rymora’s presence, which she went ahead to ignore right before she focused her gaze on her sister, making it clear that she was very much displeased to have been summoned against her will.
"What can I do for you, sister?" she asked with her head tilted to the side, not surprised to see Aria instantly approach her, sniffing her in-depth almost as if through her smell she was insistent on finding out all the places she had been.
But Aria had barely taken two sniffs when Liora, her sister, began to speak.
"I killed two humans yesterday, just in case you were wondering. Yes, I drained them of their blood!" her eyes dark as she chuckled in response to Aria’s aghast look, even as she continued to speak.
’The good news is that it’s only those two I have killed this week!’ Liora continued, lying through her teeth without batting an eye even as she watched Aria breathe a sigh of relief, which she ignored.
"What can I do for you? It’s hard to imagine that you suddenly remembered me and dragged me here for no reason," she said even as Aria breathed out a long sigh as she began to speak.
"Yes! I dragged you here because I need to know what your plans are. How exactly do you want to kill Zyren?" she asked, speaking before her sister could interrupt. "I’ll help!" Aria promised even as Liora rolled her eyes as she responded.
"Really? Tired of cuddling with him and fucking him?" words that pissed Aria off but which she easily curtailed as she faced her sister squarely.
"I have never once forgotten what he did! If you have no plans, then I plan to coordinate with the Werewolf king and have Zyren killed. It would give ultimate power to the werewolf king and cause a war, but I am valuable. With your powers, you’ll be valuable too!" Aria told Liora, who nodded even as a slow smile slowly spread across her face.
Her brown eyes looked darker than they should be as she tilted her head to the side and folded her arms across her chest as she spoke again.
"Sure, that could work..." she said, taking a breath before she continued, "...But why the urgency?" she asked, her gaze boring harder and more intensely into her sister than she would normally do.
