Chapter 1157: Chapter 1157: Dad is Not an Ordinary Person

Stanley Zachmann looked at him with a worried expression, sighed helplessly, and although he originally couldn’t say it, he had to now. He lowered his voice and spoke quietly, "I understand what you mean, don’t worry. Nathalie is my daughter. I’ve owed her so much, and since I said we’d split the family, I didn’t want her to suffer with me or get dragged down by me."

"Dad, besides being a professor at Tsinghua University, I also work at the research institute."

Mr. Zachmann looked at him in shock, "You? At the research institute?!"

There has always been a research institute in the country, similar in nature to The Ninth Institute, also focused on top-level technology. However, unlike The Ninth Institute, this one researches aerospace-related things.

The research institute holds a prestigious position in the country, and the connections one could make there are different from those in the outside circle.

Mr. Zachmann never thought his eldest son, who seemed wholly devoted to academia, had this capability.

He couldn’t regain his composure for quite a while.

"I joined there three years ago. I shouldn’t have told you about this, nor should I tell anyone else, but I’m afraid you’ll worry about Nathalie and wear yourself out," Stanley Zachmann said with some difficulty, also telling him, "Dad, please remember not to tell anyone else about this."

Mr. Zachmann finally regained his composure, calmed his heart, and nodded solemnly, "I understand."

Initially, he thought about splitting the family. Separating the two families seemed like a benefit for Room Two’s family because it rid of two freeloaders.

But now, seeing this, it’s as if a blessing in disguise.

Who knows if, in the future, Celine and the others would still agree to the split as readily when they learn about Stanley’s job!

At this moment, Nathalie Quinlan returned from her phone call. She still looked expressionless, yet seemed somewhat irritated. She raised her hand, revealing a flash of pale wrist from her sleeve, pressed down on her hat brim, as if not wanting Mr. Zachmann and the others to see her agitation. Quickly, she said to the old man, "Grandpa, Dad, I can’t go shopping with you this afternoon."

"Uh, what’s the matter?" Mr. Zachmann quickly snapped out of Stanley’s hidden work revelation, his cloudy yet clear eyes looking at her, realizing Nathalie’s mood wasn’t right, "Did something happen?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

"Not really."

Nathalie wasn’t used to dealing with elders, especially those related by blood; she always struggled to maintain a normal demeanor.

Facing the gaze from Mr. Zachmann, she paused for a second, then continued, "A friend’s grandfather is critically ill. I need to go to the provincial hospital to see."

Mr. Wilmar’s sudden critical condition was something she hadn’t expected at all. Lowie’s voice was quite urgent on the phone, so she had to go and see first.

"Do you want the driver to take you?" Stanley offered decisively.

Nathalie didn’t hesitate, looking up and nodding, "Okay."

She was in a hurry, and having a driver take her would definitely be faster than hailing a cab on the roadside. In such cases, the sooner she could get there, the better!

"The neurosurgery building at the provincial hospital." Nathalie didn’t treat herself as an outsider, and her words were unconsciously tinged with an intimacy even she hadn’t realized.

Stanley nodded and then turned back to the old man, "Dad, I’ll find someone else to take you back to the nursing home."

Before he finished speaking, Mr. Zachmann firmly interrupted, "I’ll go with you. Let’s take Nathalie first; I have no other plans anyway."

Stanley thought for a moment and realized this was feasible. He didn’t delay any further, got into the car, and had the driver hurry to the provincial hospital, to the address Nathalie had mentioned.
