Chapter 16 - 16: All Out

Keiran hovered in the sky, his flaming wings casting a warm glow against the deep green of the forest below.

His sharp eyes remained locked onto the Raccolossus, a massive beast that prowled the ground with steady, deliberate steps. The creature's golden eyes followed his every movement, its breath coming out in deep, thunderous huffs.

The Raccolossus was not just any predator—it was a terror of the wild. Towering over the tallest trees, its dark fur reflected the light of Keiran's flames.

Its muscled limbs were thick with power, built for crushing anything in its path. The long, jagged claws at the ends of its massive hands gleamed as if they had been sharpened by years of battle. This was a creature that ruled by brute strength alone.

Keiran knew the beast was powerful, nearly unstoppable. But he also knew something else.

It couldn't truly hurt him, but he also couldn't hurt it much.

Or at least, that was what he had first thought.

He descended slowly, landing with a soft thud on the dirt. As soon as his feet touched the ground, the flames of his wings flickered and vanished. A quiet stillness settled between him and the Raccolossus for only a moment.

Then, the creature let out a deep growl, its muscles tensing.

Keiran watched, unimpressed.

"Let's end this," he said simply.

At the sound of his voice, the Raccolossus reacted instantly. It roared, a sound so loud that the trees around them trembled.

Its eyes burned a fierce red, and the air around it seemed to thrum with raw energy. It had activated one of its innate abilities—boosting its strength, speed, and aggression all at once.

Without hesitation, it charged.

The ground quaked beneath its sheer weight as it stormed forward, leaving a trail of destruction behind. Trees cracked and splintered. Rocks shattered under its massive feet. Dust and leaves exploded into the air as it bulldozed toward Keiran.

Keiran remained calm.

He took a deep breath and activated Mud Spit. A thick glob of dark, sticky mud shot from his mouth, splattering directly onto the Raccolossus's face. The creature let out a snarl, momentarily slowed as it struggled to blink away the mess.

But it didn't stop.

Keiran was already moving. He activated Predator's Rush, his body blurring as he dashed toward the beast at an incredible speed. He moved like a streak of wind, the ground beneath him cracking from the force of his acceleration.

The Raccolossus sensed the attack and reacted swiftly. It swung its massive claws around in wide, sweeping arcs, trying to catch him mid-charge.

Keiran anticipated the attack. At the last second, he leaped high into the air.

As he soared, his body shimmered and shifted. His form lost its solidity, transforming into a Giant Water Slime. The gelatinous mass of his new body expanded, stretching out midair before crashing down onto the Raccolossus's back.

Like a liquid trap, he spread over the creature, wrapping around its thick neck and shoulders.

The Raccolossus roared in frustration, shaking its body violently to throw him off. But Keiran had already changed form again, his fluid body condensing and solidifying into a Black Scale Snake. His long, powerful form coiled tightly around the beast, locking its movements.

Then, he struck.

His fangs sank into the Raccolossus's thick, armored neck, delivering a Venomous Bite. The impact wasn't as deep as he would have liked—the creature's hide was nearly impenetrable—but it was enough.

Keiran didn't need to break through.

He only needed the poison to spread.

Immediately, the effects began to show. Dark purple veins spread across the Raccolossus's neck, a clear sign that the venom was taking hold.

The monster howled in rage, clawing at its own body in a desperate attempt to grab him. But its efforts were useless. Keiran's body, composed mostly of water, allowed its attacks to pass through like slicing through mist.

Only his fangs remained tangible—sharp and unmoving as they pumped more venom into the beast.

Frustration turned to desperation.

The Raccolossus began to thrash wildly, throwing itself against trees, smashing into rocks, slamming into anything solid in hopes of dislodging its attacker. Each impact sent Keiran's body splattering apart, but he simply reformed, absorbing the mana around him to repair any damage.

Again, he struck.

His fangs found the opposite side of the creature's neck, delivering another dose of venom.

The Raccolossus howled again, but this time, it wasn't just anger—it was pain.

In a final act of defiance, it unleashed a devastating shockwave. The sheer force of the attack caused most of Keiran's long, coiled body to explode into droplets.

The Raccolossus panted heavily, its once-bright red eyes dimming slightly.

Keiran's body, however, quickly reformed once more.

The beast was weakening, but it wasn't done yet.

With a final burst of strength, the Raccolossus leaped high into the air. Its massive shadow loomed over the battlefield for just a moment before it came crashing down with earth-shattering force, using Keiran as a cushion for the landing.

The impact created an enormous crater, sending dirt and debris flying in every direction.

Keiran's body was almost completely obliterated.

But almost wasn't enough.

A single fragment of his form remained, and from that piece, his body began to knit itself back together, absorbing mana to heal.

The battle continued.

But the longer they fought, the clearer the outcome became.

The Raccolossus, once a mighty and nearly unstoppable force, was slowing down. The poison had seeped deep into its system, sapping its strength. Its movements became sluggish, its once-ferocious roars turning into weak growls.

Keiran watched as the monster tried, one last time, to swipe at him. But its arm barely lifted before falling limp.

Then, with a heavy, final breath, the Raccolossus collapsed.

Its once-powerful body was now still.

Its thick, armored hide had turned a sickly shade of purple, completely overtaken by the venom.

The battle was over.

Keiran uncoiled himself, his form shifting back into his human shape. His dark hair swayed slightly in the wind as he stood over the fallen creature.

He let out a slow breath. "That was hard," he muttered, his voice completely devoid of emotion.

Keiran glanced at the glowing text, then at the lifeless body of the Raccolossus.

"That was a good fight," he said simply.
