Chapter 471: 473. Discharged

Such an injury indeed seemed minor to her; she didn’t care about it at all. The medicinal powder stimulated her wound, causing her to wince in pain and draw a sharp breath. She cursed silently, "Damn bastard." After risking her life for him for so many years, he showed no mercy in his attack.

Su Qing dealt with the wound carelessly, then threw on her clothes and went straight to bed. During the past few days in the jungle, she and Eden had been pushing forward almost without rest, then she had rushed back here non-stop, without a moment’s rest.

As soon as Su Qing closed her eyes, she fell asleep, but her dreams were chaotic and she was very restless. Suddenly, she opened her eyes and aimed a kick at the shadow that was approaching her.

The figure caught Su Qing’s ankle in one swift move, pulled it, then released it, and flipped the switch on the wall. The room was instantly flooded with light. "Heh, still able to fight. It seems the injury isn’t that serious."

Su Qing looked coldly at the person who had intruded into her room in the middle of the night, frowning. "What are you doing in my room?"

The man’s eyes were filled with a coldness, "I came to see if you were dead. Now, it seems the punishment was too light."

Su Qing replied with a cold face, "You’ve seen now. Please leave."

"Su Qing, I’m your superior. Is this the attitude you should have towards me?"

"Not for long. The fifteen-year term is almost up."

A cold glint appeared in the man’s eyes. With a swift movement, he was in front of Su Qing, gripping her chin. "Do you really want to leave me that badly?" His eyes were sinister and terrifying.

Su Qing met his gaze with cold eyes and responded indifferently, "Yes."

A surge of anger flared in the man’s heart, and he gripped her chin tighter subconsciously. "You want to leave me? You’ll have to see if I agree to it!"

Su Qing’s eyes grew colder. "Don’t forget, we only have a fifteen-year contract. Soon, the fifteen years will be up, and you have to let me go."

The man sneered, "Su Qing, if it weren’t for me, you would have been a pile of dry bones long ago. Now that you’ve grown wings, you think you can just leave me? Where in this world can you find such a good deal so easily?"

"You did save me, but don’t forget, I’ve also been risking my life for you for fifteen years. Any debt I owed you has long been paid off."

"Paid off? Su Qing, with what did you repay it? Your life is mine."

Su Qing regarded the man with a frosty look, the man who had saved her. "If I could, I would rather you never saved me. It’s just a life, after all; if you want it, just take it."

The man stared at Su Qing, at her fearless eyes, and after a long while, finally released her. "Kill you? How could I bear to do that? I expended so much effort to save you back then. You want to leave now, isn’t that somewhat ungrateful?"

"Do you think I would have something like a conscience?" Su Qing raised an eyebrow.

The man chuckled lightly, "Indeed, a person who was personally trained by me. If any humanity had remained, you wouldn’t have lived until this moment. So tell me, why did you abandon the mission this time? And where did you go after that?"

Su Qing’s face was the epitome of indifference. "I didn’t want to do it anymore, so I left. Where I went is my business. Do I need to report to you?"

The rage in the man’s eyes grew more turbulent. He squeezed Su Qing’s arm suddenly and forcefully, pressing on the gunshot wound on her arm. Blood instantly stained the bandage red, and Su Qing’s complexion turned pale immediately.

"Tell me, what did you do?" The man’s voice was devoid of any warmth.

Su Qing clenched her teeth tightly, unwilling to speak. The man’s other hand lifted her chin, forcing her to meet his eyes. "Tell me, Su Qing. You know what I’m capable of."

Su Qing stared back defiantly, "Kill me then."

The man increased the pressure on her arm by another notch, and Su Qing’s complexion turned a shade paler, "Even if you kill me, I won’t tell you." Su Qing laughed, as if she could not feel the pain in her arm. The man’s eyes were cold, as if they had been hardened by ice, "Do you really think I wouldn’t dare?"

"Suit yourself."

The man narrowed his eyes at Su Qing and then suddenly let go of her wound. His hand was covered with her fresh blood. He glanced at his hand, chuckled lightly, then put his fingers to his mouth, licking the blood off one by one. His gaze remained fixed on Su Qing the entire time, his mouth twisting into a sinister smile, "Not a bad flavor." After that, he left the room.

Su Qing slammed the door shut, removed the blood-soaked gauze from her arm, and replaced it with a new one.

She lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling, unable to sleep anymore.

Her hand gently touched her chest where a shallow wound lay, near her heart but on the right side, not the left. Who could imagine her heart was congenitally different from others, on the opposite side? The knife thrust from that year did not claim her life but left her in a state of suspended animation.

After Shen Qinglan had buried her, someone had dug her out of the ground. She didn’t know who it was when she awoke, she was already on this island.

This island, like Devil Base, is a secret training facility, but unlike Devil Base, which trains assassins, this place trains agents or spies.

She had spent three years here, learning a myriad of skills that she needed, a hundred times more torturous than her time at Devil Base, even surprising herself with her ability to survive trial after trial.

This organization was unknown to most of the world; only the top politicians were aware of their existence. Their leader, the man who had just left, took on missions and gathered the intelligence these politicians needed, and of course, handled some of their more unsavory affairs.

These politicians sought intelligence on their political rivals, the kind of work not suitable for their own countries’ operatives. That’s why this organization existed.

From the moment she left Devil Base, Qin Mu was dead. Now, she was Su Qing, a completely new person, even her face was brand new.

Thinking of this, a hint of irony flashed in Su Qing’s eyes. Qin Mu was the illegitimate daughter of the Yan Family, born into this world out of hatred, and despite receiving boundless love from her father, she was pushed into hell by her biological mother. Su Qing was an orphan, unencumbered in this world, an outstanding agent who had gone through countless life and death situations, resulting in a body covered in scars.

Su Qing didn’t know what her purpose in the world was anymore, except for a girl named Shen Qinglan, nobody cared about her. Her father had given up searching for her after a while; after all, losing one daughter meant he still had another.

Her mother couldn’t wait for her to die, but ironically, the daughter she thought dead still cared for that sliver of blood-related affection and had done so much for her.

Qin Yan would never have guessed that the daughter she thought was dead was standing alive before her and was so close, so many times, Su Qing wanted to ask that woman if even for a moment, she regarded her as a daughter, even if just for a minute.

Unfortunately, she would never get that answer in this lifetime. She had watched the woman she held more hatred for than love disappear into dust right before her eyes.

She was Su Qing, an orphan, an agent with a touch of persistent warmth in her heart, which was her sole ray of sunshine.

***************

After leaving Ya Xi’s hospital room, Shen Qinglan did not return to her own but went to Eden’s temporary office instead. She was there to find Peter, who happened to be in as well, seemingly discussing some issues with Eden.

"Qinglan, are you looking for me?" Eden asked.

Shen Qinglan looked at Peter, "I’m looking for him."

Peter raised an eyebrow, "Looking for me? What’s up?"

"Where’s Allen?"

Peter found it even more amusing. "Miss Shen, why would you ask me about Allen’s whereabouts? You saw him fall into the sea with your own eyes, and I even searched for him with you for several days. Have you forgotten?"

"Actually, you found Allen’s trail a long time ago, but you just didn’t want to tell me, right?" Shen Qinglan stared steadily at Peter, carefully observing his every expression.

Peter shrugged. "Miss Shen, I admit your guess is reasonable, but I regret to tell you that I really don’t know where Allen is. I’ve been looking for him till now."

"Do you really not know where he is?" Although Peter looked calm and didn’t show any signs of abnormality, Shen Qinglan always felt he knew something.

"I really don’t know. I don’t even know if he’s alive or dead. Miss Shen, I hope more than you do that he’s still alive. Although I mostly found the guy annoying and I’ve regretted countless times why I boarded his ’thief ship’ and saved such a trouble, Allen is my friend in my heart. Just for that reason alone, I hope he’s alive and well."

"Where did you go after that day? Why was there no news?" Peter had vanished the night they retreated from the sea, as if evaporating from the world, and this time, he appeared on his own initiative.

"I went back after failing to find Allen. Although I spent most of the past years with Allen, I have my own life. Without him, I can’t just stop living, so I went back. If I hadn’t received a message that you were looking for me, I wouldn’t have shown up." Peter spoke with a serious face, seemingly thinking precisely that.

His gaze was calm, without even a flicker. "If I get any news about Allen, I will definitely tell you."

Shen Qinglan withdrew her gaze and said nothing more, while Peter continued, "The matters here are resolved. I’ll be leaving tomorrow."

Shen Qinglan glanced sideways. "So soon?"

"This time, working with Eden on this virus, I’ve gained a lot and can’t wait to go back and continue my research. Also, that fascinating plant—it contains several very interesting components in its extract, which have captivated me." Peter spoke with a face full of intoxication.

Shen Qinglan knew that some medical fanatics can’t have their love for medicine described in words. Knowing his determination to leave, she didn’t stop him, especially since he had helped her this time.

"Safe travels," Shen Qinglan said lightly.

Peter crossed his arms, jokingly saying, "Miss Shen, your words don’t seem very well-intentioned. You wouldn’t be planning to ambush me halfway and extract information about Allen from me, would you?"

"Yes, you’re right," Shen Qinglan went along with the flow.

Peter shook his head with a wry smile. "Ah, woman. I just helped her, and she’s tearing down the bridge before even crossing the river. Miss Shen, you’re going to make me feel cold." The joking tone was clear that he wasn’t serious.

Shen Qinglan gave him a light glance and ignored the joke, turning to leave. But at the door, she paused and said, "If one day you find Allen, please tell him I don’t hate him, and thank you for everything he did for me."

Hearing this, Peter’s eyes briefly flickered. "Sure."

Shen Qinglan returned to her own ward, where Fu Hengyi was already waiting for her. "Mommy." As soon as she entered, a small figure hugged her legs. Shen Qinglan bent over to pick up her son and kissed his face. "Who brought you here?"

"Uncle," Anan said obediently. Anan now came to visit the hospital every day to stay with Shen Qinglan for a few hours. At first, Shen Qinglan felt that the hospital wasn’t a good place and didn’t want her child to come, but later relented under Fu Hengyi’s insistence.

Fu Hengyi took Anan from Shen Qinglan’s arms and said earnestly, "How many times have I told you? Mommy isn’t well and doesn’t have the strength to hold you. You can’t keep making Mommy hold you."

Anan pouted with an aggrieved look. "Uncle said I’m not heavy."

"Your uncle is a boy, strong. Your mommy is a girl, the kind that needs protection from men, so you can’t always expect Mommy to hold you," Fu Hengyi said with all seriousness.

Shen Qinglan looked at him, speechless. She was sure that what Fu Hengyi said was just an excuse.

Anan, hoodwinked by his father yet nodding in half-understanding, then looked at Shen Qinglan. "Mommy, I’ll protect you."

Shen Qinglan couldn’t help but cry and laugh, yet she nodded with a smile, "Thank you, Anan. You’re amazing."

Anan immediately felt satisfied, and for the following few days, even when Shen Qinglan wanted to hold him, he refused, which showed just how effective Fu Hengyi’s brainwashing was. Shen Qinglan found this both annoying and funny.

Shen Qinglan stayed in the hospital for nearly half a month until Eden confirmed that there were no aftereffects to her health. Only then did she allow Shen Qinglan to go home and recuperate.

Standing at the entrance of the courtyard, Shen Qinglan looked at the familiar house, truly feeling as if she was in a different world.

"What are you standing at the door for? Come in," Fu Hengyi said, holding their son in one hand and carrying things in the other.

Shen Qinglan smiled faintly and followed Fu Hengyi into the house. Perhaps it was because she had stayed in the hospital for so long, the faint smell of disinfectant still lingered at the tip of her nose.

"Qinglan, welcome home." Fu Jingtong stood at the door with her arms wide open. Shen Qinglan smiled and stepped forward to hug her, "Thank you, Auntie."

Letting go of Fu Jingtong, she then realized that both the Shen Family and the Fu Family members were all present. Shen Qinglan’s gaze swept across their faces one by one as she softly spoke, "Grandpa, Dad, Mom, brother, sister-in-law, I’m back."

Chu Yunrong smiled, yet her eyes brimmed with tears, "It’s good that you’re back."

Shen Qinglan walked over to the two elders, crouching down beside them, "Grandpas, I’ve worried you, I’m sorry."

Old Sir Fu’s face radiated with relief, "As long as you’re okay, that’s all that matters. Ancient people often said that those who survive a disaster are destined for future blessings. You’ve suffered so much this time, but your remaining life will surely be happy and peaceful. Don’t you agree, Old Man Shen?"

Old Sir Shen gazed at his granddaughter with a loving expression, "Yes."

"Get up, Qinglan girl, and take a seat. You must be tired after coming back from the hospital," Old Sir Fu pulled Shen Qinglan up, chuckling.

As Shen Qinglan looked at the two old men’s heads now covered with much more white hair, a sourness welled in her heart.

Because Shen Qinglan was discharged, the two families had a meal together at noon. Afterwards, Fu Hengyi and Shen Qinglan went to the cemetery to visit Granny Shen as well as Fu Hengyi’s grandmother and parents.

The Fu Family cemetery wasn’t far from the Shen Family’s. Shen Qinglan went with Fu Hengyi to the Fu Family cemetery first and then visited Granny Shen.

After cleaning the tombstone, Shen Qinglan looked at Granny Shen’s photo on the tombstone and softly said, "Granny, I’ve come to see you."

With just that phrase, no more words were needed. Shen Qinglan leaned against Fu Hengyi’s chest, and he held her hand, "Granny, I will take good care of Qinglan for the rest of her life."

Granny Shen’s image on the tombstone smiled very kindly.

Shen Qinglan also went to visit Qin Mu. Seeing that tombstone she had personally placed there brought complicated emotions to her eyes. Su Qing was still alive, but Qin Mu was truly gone.

"Let’s go," Shen Qinglan said softly.

Fu Hengyi followed Shen Qinglan out of the cemetery.

On the way back, Shen Qinglan looked out of the car window and spoke slowly, "Fu Hengyi, do you know that when my consciousness was blurry, I once saw Granny. She looked at me, so gentle and loving, and told me to hold on, that she would watch me be happy from heaven."

She knew it might have been a hallucination, but she was willing to have such an illusion. It was the first time she had dreamed of Granny since her death.

"So, we need to be even happier in the future, so that Granny can rest assured in heaven," Fu Hengyi said gently.

"Mm," Qinglan nodded affirmatively.

*

Now that Qinglan had recovered and was cured, it was naturally time to gather with everyone. After spending two days at home with the two elder sirs and Chu Yunrong, Qinglan made an appointment with Fang Tong and Yu Xiaoxuan.

At the sight of her, Yu Xiaoxuan’s eyes brimmed with tears, which Qinglan found quite amusing.

"Qinglan," Yu Xiaoxuan said, wanting to rush over and hug her, but Qinglan dodged, and with a tug, Fang Tong ended up in Yu Xiaoxuan’s full embrace.

"Boo hoo hoo, Qinglan, I’m so relieved to see you’re okay. I was so worried, you know?" Yu Xiaoxuan said, her eyes misty with tears.

Fang Tong, with a dark face, said, "Yu Xiaoxuan, you’ve got Fang Tong."

"I know you’re Fang Tong. Can’t I borrow a hug from you?"

Fang Tong pushed Yu Xiaoxuan away with a shove, "That’s enough from you."

Yu Xiaoxuan glared at her, "You heartless woman."

Fang Tong spared her not even a glance and turned to look at Qinglan with a smile, "Have you fully recovered?"

Qinglan smiled and nodded, "Yes, I’m recovered. Sorry for worrying you." While she had been in the hospital, Fang Tong and Yu Xiaoxuan had been running to the hospital every other day until Fu Hengyi had imposed a ban, reducing their visits.

Yu Xiaoxuan sniffled, "No matter what, it’s great news that you’re recovered. We definitely have to celebrate tonight, we’re not going home until we’re drunk."

Fang Tong glanced at her coolly, "Yu Xiaoxuan, you’re just craving to drink, aren’t you?"

Yu Xiaoxuan’s eyes widened, "Nonsense, I’m celebrating for Qinglan. Alcohol is just for the mood."

"You’re not supposed to drink alcohol, Han Yi forbids it, do you dare?" Fang Tong challenged.

"What am I afraid of? I call the shots at home, and even Han Yi has to listen to me," Yu Xiaoxuan said, hands on hips, declaring her domestic dominance.

She waved her hands grandly, "Waiter, bring the alcohol."

Qinglan watched Yu Xiaoxuan and didn’t stop her; this place was Charming Color, where nobody dared to come up and hit on them.

"Yu Xiaoxuan, better not drink. Guoguo still needs you," Fang Tong said, seeing that Yu Xiaoxuan was intent on getting drunk and hurriedly tried to dissuade her.

"Han Yi is looking after the child at home; he doesn’t need me." Yu Xiaoxuan pouted, "That little brat doesn’t like being with me; she cries whenever I hold her. When Han Yi holds her, she just giggles and drools. She’ll definitely be a little cutie-chaser when she grows up, no doubt about it."

As Yu Xiaoxuan talked about her little girl at home, she truly felt aggrieved. Her very own daughter, after enduring so much during birth, favored Han Yi so much, leaving her feeling like a stepmother from Cinderella.

Qinglan chuckled lightly, "Isn’t it better that she’s close to Han Yi? With Han Yi taking care of the child, it’s easier for you."

Yu Xiaoxuan sighed, "Ah, I do want to share the responsibility, but alas, she just doesn’t take to me. She only comes to me when Han Yi’s gone. When he’s around, she doesn’t even want to glance at me."

Fang Tong and Qinglan exchanged looks, their eyes brimming with laughter. The Han Family’s little girl was a face judge; she was very willing to be held by Qinglan and Fu Hengyi, which really frustrated Yu Xiaoxuan at the time.

"Let’s not talk about that annoying little brat. Qinglan, today we’re celebrating your recovery, come on, cheers!" Yu Xiaoxuan raised her glass. Qinglan and Fang Tong hoisted theirs as well.

The trio sipped lightly, mostly just chatting. But Yu Xiaoxuan’s alcohol tolerance was poor, and even though she drank little, by the time they decided to leave, she was still drunk.

Fang Tong, seeing the tipsy Yu Xiaoxuan, felt a headache coming on. "Qinglan, call Han Yi."

"Let’s take her back ourselves; Han Yi is probably at home taking care of the child," Qinglan suggested.

Fang Tong nodded, and together they helped Yu Xiaoxuan into the car. Leaning on the backseat, her eyes were closed, and she had already fallen asleep. This time, she was behaving, not doing anything strange.

Han Yi, looking at the person in the backseat, seemed a bit irked; Yu Xiaoxuan had drunk again.

"Little sister-in-law, thank you for bringing her home. I’ll take her inside now," Han Yi said amicably.

"Sure," Qinglan responded, "Xiaoxuan didn’t drink much today; she should wake up soon. We’re heading off."

"Alright, drive safely, and call or message me when you get home," Han Yi requested, then carried Yu Xiaoxuan in his arms and walked away.

Yu Xiaoxuan, now awake, clung to Qinglan, not wanting to leave, "Qinglan, where are you going? Don’t go."

Qinglan, seeing her befuddled look, knew she wasn’t sober yet, "I’m going home."

"Then let’s go home together."

She clung to Qinglan’s sleeve with a face full of anticipation, which only made Han Yi’s face grow darker. Embarrassed, he looked to Qinglan, "Little sister-in-law, I’ll take this one off your hands now." Saying this, he walked off, regardless of Yu Xiaoxuan’s reluctance to let go of Qinglan.

Yu Xiaoxuan turned her head towards Qinglan, "Qinglan, don’t go."

Qinglan found it funny; Yu Xiaoxuan loved to drink, but her alcohol tolerance and behavior when drunk were poor, so Han Yi forbade her from drinking. This time, she wouldn’t escape a "cleanup" once home.

Han Yi dropped Yu Xiaoxuan onto the sofa, and she yelped, touching her waist, "Han Yi, are you trying to murder your wife?"

Han Yi chuckled, "Good, you recognize that I’m Han Yi. That means you’re not too drunk."

"That’s right, I’m not drunk at all. I only had a little bit," she gestured the amount with her fingernail.

Han Yi ignored her and went to the kitchen to prepare honey water for her, "Drink this water."

Yu Xiaoxuan frowned, "I don’t want it."

"Yu Xiaoxuan," Han Yi’s tone grew stern, and Yu Xiaoxuan promptly picked up the cup and drank the honey water entirely, then looked up at Han Yi obediently, "All done."

Han Yi had no solution for her, casually placing the cup aside, "Go take a shower now."

"But I want to see Guoguo," Yu Xiaoxuan protested, not having seen her daughter yet.

"Do you plan to see her reeking of alcohol?" he retorted calmly.

Yu Xiaoxuan, with her alcohol-slowed brain, pondered for a while and shook her head, "Then I better shower first."

Han Yi had already prepared the bathwater for Yu Xiaoxuan, and even laid out her clothes. Watching Yu Xiaoxuan go to bathe, he decided to check if his daughter was sleeping soundly. Guoguo inherited her mother’s restlessness; she was a fidgety sleeper and liked to kick off her blankets. As a result, Han Yi had to get up several times a night to cover her. Although the night nanny would take care of her, making sure Guoguo wouldn’t catch a cold, the first-time father Han Yi was always worried.

Ever since they had Guoguo, Han Yi rarely went out in the evenings. Even if he did, no matter how late he returned, he would always visit Guoguo’s room to ensure she was okay before he could go to sleep peacefully.

Because of this, Yu Xiaoxuan often felt jealous of her daughter.

"Ouch." A cry came from the bathroom, followed by a thump. Han Yi’s face changed, and he quickly opened the bathroom door to see Yu Xiaoxuan sitting on the ground, clearly having slipped. Seeing Han Yi, she looked up at him with a pitiful face, "Husband."

Han Yi sighed softly; he wasn’t so much caring for a wife but rather for two daughters, neither of whom were trouble-free. He picked her up from the ground, "Where did you hurt yourself?"

Yu Xiaoxuan looked at him pitifully, "My butt." She had just finished bathing and had taken a solid fall on her behind.

Han Yi placed her on the bed and tapped her forehead, "You, knowing you can’t hold your liquor, still drink. Do you take for granted that I won’t be mad at you?"

Yu Xiaoxuan hugged Han Yi’s waist, "I was happy today. Qinglan is alright now, and I’m so relieved." Her voice suddenly dropped, "Han Yi, you don’t know how scared I was when Qinglan was seriously ill. I have many friends, but very few whom I’m close with. Qinglan is my best friend, and I was terrified of losing her."

Her voice carried a hint of a sob, and Han Yi felt a softness in his heart, remembering how Yu Xiaoxuan couldn’t sleep at all when Shen Qinglan was sick. Once, when he got up for the restroom in the middle of the night and didn’t find Yu Xiaoxuan in bed, he walked out to see her sitting on the living room sofa, holding her parents’ photo and praying to them in heaven to watch over and protect Shen Qinglan through her ordeal.

Shen Qinglan was someone who had been with Yu Xiaoxuan every step of the way and held a heavy weight in her heart.

"She is fine now; you can be at ease," Han Yi said gently as he stroked Yu Xiaoxuan’s hair.

Yu Xiaoxuan nodded, "Yes, seeing Qinglan smiling and healthy makes me so happy. Han Yi, do you know? I’m now really scared of seeing any of you fall ill. So promise me, will you not get sick?"

Han Yi couldn’t help but smile at her words. This girl, clearly lucid, always spoke as if she was drunk. No one can avoid falling ill, but he knew the impact of Shen Qinglan’s hospitalization on her, "Okay, I promise you, I won’t get sick in the future."

"Alright, since you promised, you have to keep it, or else I’ll be angry."

"Okay, I’ll definitely keep it," Han Yi said with a smile.

Yu Xiaoxuan got up, "I want to check on Guoguo."

Han Yi supported her to prevent her from falling again.

The nanny was in the room next to Guoguo’s, and, hearing the commotion, she got up. Han Yi waved his hand, signaling her to go back to sleep.

Guoguo was sleeping soundly. Ever since she was three months old, Han Yi had consciously adjusted her sleeping schedule, so she rarely woke up at night. Yu Xiaoxuan sat beside the crib, watching her sleeping daughter with the utmost tenderness in her eyes. But soon, she frowned, "Han Yi, it’s so unfair."

Han Yi looked at her, "What’s wrong?"

"Look at this. This is the child I carried for ten months, and yet she doesn’t resemble me at all. Her face is like a carbon copy of yours. And also, she likes you more than me."

Han Yi found it amusing, "She does like you, where did you get the idea she doesn’t?"

"This little girl’s eyes light up every time she sees you. When she sees me, it’s like she’s disgusted. How does she like me? I tell you, she’s a little fangirl."

"That’s probably inherited from you," Han Yi remarked coolly.

"That’s nonsense; I’m not a fangirl. Otherwise, when I first saw your face, I was completely immune."

"Oh? Is that so?" Han Yi slightly raised his eyebrows, suddenly leaning in close to Yu Xiaoxuan, "Are you saying that this face of mine no longer has any allure for you?" His voice deliberately lowered, carried a seductive charm. He suddenly remembered that Yu Xiaoxuan used to treat Shen Junyu as her male god, always looking like a little fan girl every time she saw him, while towards him, she acted all claws and teeth, like a little wild cat. Thinking of this, his eyes narrowed slightly, emitting a dangerous light.

Yu Xiaoxuan leaned back, her hand pressing against Han Yi’s chest, "Don’t get so close to me." With such a bewitching face in front of her, she really feared she might pounce on him if she wasn’t careful, and then the tragedy wouldn’t be Han Yi but herself.

Yu Xiaoxuan suddenly remembered the several times she had been drunk. This bastard man deliberately seduced her, making her present herself willingly, and the next day she would feel sore all over as if having been run over by a vehicle time and again. Each time she looked at Han Yi with resentful eyes, Han Yi would claim innocence, "It was you who initiated it. If I didn’t take what was offered, I wouldn’t be a man at all. You’d be the one crying."

Now seeing him pull the same trick, Yu Xiaoxuan unconsciously swallowed her saliva and leaned back again, "Han Yi, this is not playing fair."

Han Yi’s peachy eyes lifted, truly full of alluring grace, "Oh? What did I do?"

Yu Xiaoxuan pushed away Han Yi’s crime-provoking face, "This is Guoguo’s room."

"Then let’s go back to our own room now," Han Yi said, wrapping his arm around Yu Xiaoxuan’s waist, intending to lead her away.

Yu Xiaoxuan grabbed the doorknob of Guoguo’s room, "I don’t want to; tonight I’m going to sleep with Guoguo." The way Han Yi was looking at her made her feel like a piece of delicious meat. If she went back now, wouldn’t this guy eat her clean, even crunching her bones in the process? She wasn’t that foolish. 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶

Han Yi looked at her deeply, "Wife, are you sure you want to sleep with Guoguo?"

Yu Xiaoxuan nodded fiercely, "I don’t want to sleep with anyone but Guoguo. Even sleeping in the study would be fine. I just don’t want to sleep with this man who’s in heat." She had to go to the set tomorrow; she couldn’t let him mess around. If she turned up with a necklace of hickeys like last time, she’d be utterly embarrassed.

Han Yi wasn’t about to let her go easily. He wrapped his arm around her waist and forcefully pulled her out of Guoguo’s room. Yu Xiaoxuan, seeing the situation, turned around, slipped out of Han Yi’s grasp, and darted out like a rabbit, diving into the study, "I’m sleeping in the study tonight; you sleep alone, ha."

Han Yi turned the doorknob, finding Yu Xiaoxuan had locked the door.

Yu Xiaoxuan leaned against the door, "I’m sleepy, going to bed first. You should sleep too, goodnight, husband."

Han Yi stood outside the closed door of the study, speaking deeply, "Are you sure you want to sleep alone?"

"Mhm mhm mhm, I want to sleep by myself," Yu Xiaoxuan nodded repeatedly, afraid Han Yi wouldn’t believe her.

Han Yi waited a little while before finally saying, "Alright then, goodnight." His footsteps then receded into the distance.

Yu Xiaoxuan pressed her ear against the study door, listening carefully. Seeing that Han Yi had indeed left, she sighed with relief. Ah, a husband being too capable is also a kind of sorrow.

There was a bed in the study, previously used by Han Yi for resting. Yu Xiaoxuan spread the blankets, stretched out lazily, and crawled under the covers. Just as she closed her eyes, she heard the sound of a key turning in the lock. Realizing something was amiss, she was about to get up to block the door when it had already opened, Han Yi’s towering figure appearing in the doorway.

Yu Xiaoxuan covered her chest with the blanket, the very picture of a little wife, "We agreed I’d sleep alone."

Han Yi smiled faintly, his flirtatious eyes shimmering, "You said that, but I never agreed." He was still holding a bunch of keys, obviously, he had gone to get them to unlock the door.

Yu Xiaoxuan looked at him with a resentful gaze, "How could I be so foolish? The keys are in your hands; locking the door is pointless." Her voice softened pitifully, "Husband, I have to go shoot tomorrow. If people see the hickeys on my neck, they’ll laugh at me."

Han Yi had already reached the side of the bed, leaning in close, his hand propping up beside Yu Xiaoxuan, who leaned back, "Wife, I’ll be gentle."

"You say that every time, but you never manage to do it," Yu Xiaoxuan’s voice became increasingly plaintive.

"This time I promise it’s true," Han Yi said as he leaned down and kissed Yu Xiaoxuan’s lips, swallowing all her protests, securing her hands firmly. Soon enough, the study was filled with sounds that made hearts race and faces flush.
