the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart-Chapter 842: She Thought There Was Only One Wolf by Her Side
Delphine kept silent as she was carried to the bath.
This house had a huge bathroom, and the bathtub was wooden, more like a bath pool. There was a balcony right outside the tub with a wide-open view, but the balcony’s door was always locked, probably because Ignatius Leclair feared she might not think straight and jump off.
Delphine thought of her two adorable kids at home and decided to fight him to the end.
"It hurts." As soon as she entered the water, she shivered from the soreness, her voice weak. It wasn’t really that painful, just her limbs were weak, making the hot water’s slight sting somewhat uncomfortable.
Ignatius Leclair paused, his movements becoming gentler. He cradled her in the pool and said in a low voice, "Soaking in hot water will make you feel much better."
"My hands and feet hurt." She frowned, listless, not wanting to pay attention to him, yet she disliked the weakness of her limbs, which left her a bit downcast, submerging her head into the hot water. The man timely reached out to lift her pointed chin, steadying her little head.
Seeing her discomfort, Ignatius Leclair’s gaze deepened. Given her state, he decided to halve the medicine’s effect, ensuring she couldn’t run around.
This place was vast and sparsely populated; a mountain search would be troublesome.
"Uh-huh," the man responded lowly, acknowledging her, then said indifferently, "Did you hear the wolves howling in the mountains last night?"
Delphine shuddered, sobering up a bit, her body slightly stiff. Wolves in the mountains? She thought there was only one wolf by her side.
She closed her eyes and remained silent.
Seeing his objective achieved, Ignatius Leclair stopped speaking, gently bathing his wife.
If it were before, the man would probably never think he’d one day strategize against a woman. His pursuit had always been starry skies and seas; perhaps the heights were too cold, and the manipulations around him over the years were numerous. Having seen much of the world’s fickleness, he longed for an ordinary life.
He liked her quiet brows, sitting still for an afternoon, wasting time, enjoyed talking softly with her, living simply without touching fame and fortune.
Seeing her lulled to sleep by the bathroom’s warm water, the man couldn’t help but smile, carrying her into the bedroom.
After a few days, Delphine gradually adapted to life in the mountains and got used to being alone with Ignatius Leclair. Although there was a maid, that middle-aged woman spoke very little and rarely appeared when Ignatius Leclair was present.
Luckily, she could video call with her treasures every day; after each call, Delphine wanted to leave even more, to go back and hold her son and little daughter. However, no matter how much she provoked or acted out these days, Ignatius Leclair consistently accommodated her.
Fortunately, Maximilian brought news that the third branch of the Leclair Family had returned, and the old man asked them to return for a meal.
This past week, the old man, accompanied by his two great-grandchildren, acted like a mischievous old man, in high spirits, happier with Ignatius not around. But with the third branch’s return, they had to gather for a meal and clear some things up to prevent disputes, hence inviting them back.
"Tell the old man we’ll come back tomorrow," Ignatius Leclair said casually.
Delphine couldn’t suppress her inner joy, reaching out to tug his sleeve, saying, "I want to see Nicholas and Benjamin too."
The man’s phoenix eyes narrowed slightly, and he said in a deep voice, "Call me husband."
