Chapter 791: Chapter 791: It Wouldn’t Be an Exaggeration to Call It Rebirth

Ignatius Leclair curled his lips into a faint smile. This carefree feeling of being unburdened relaxed him entirely. At more than thirty years of age, he thought to himself, money was never enough, power and status were fleeting clouds; spending time with a woman and child was what truly mattered.

"Let him kick up a fuss however he likes." Ignatius wiped his collection of wines, carefully selecting a bottle to drink with Delphine that evening.

"No wonder you wouldn’t let me interfere with the matters in the South Seas, even secretly helping Nathan Leclair." Richard Shaw chuckled softly, shaking his head. "You sly old fox. Clearly, you prefer love over power, looking for an excuse to lay it all down."

In a way, Stone Leclair’s imprisonment could be considered a salvation for Ignatius Leclair.

Over the years, Ignatius had borne the burdens of the feuds between the Howard and Leclair families, idly lingering in the South Seas, viewing power and wealth as filth, yet trapped in a predicament from which he couldn’t escape, wasting time. Now, he had finally resolved his inner struggles, settled the grudges of the past generation, and cast off his heavy burdens. It wasn’t an exaggeration to call it a rebirth.

"What are your plans now?"

"Wait for Nathan Leclair to poke such a big hole in the South Seas that the sky comes crashing down." Ignatius gave a faint smile. There was still Reginald Yeager to deal with.

"I heard Griffith Squire is trying to overturn the case recently?" Ignatius inquired about the matters in the Imperial City.

Richard Shaw’s ruggedly handsome face took on a hint of sternness. The man enunciated each word clearly, "Wrong. I want to overturn it."

Ignatius lifted his eyes, took off the gold-rimmed glasses perched on the bridge of his nose, and squinted his phoenix-shaped eyes solemnly. "To flush out Leah? Are you planning to drag yourself, the Shaw Family, and the Lewis Family into this mess?"

Richard didn’t reply. That case had long been left to gather dust, buried and forgotten. To bring it up recklessly would hurt everyone involved, but this was the last thing he could do for Leah.

"Nonsense." Ignatius said sternly. The man rarely lost his temper, but seeing his only brother willing to court disaster by attempting to overturn such a case for the Squire siblings, his fury could not be contained. "Do you think you’re an island? Have you thought about Casimir Shaw? Have you considered what it cost your family, the Shaw name, to earn the mountains of military merits you stand on today? It was paid in the blood of your parents, your ancestors, and yourself. Have you thought about the matriarch?"

"I know," Richard said calmly, "but this is a debt all of us owe to the Cox Family. I won’t act recklessly, rest assured of that."

Ignatius was about to say more when he saw Delphine already pushing the door open. She stood at the doorway and asked blankly, "You’re giving up your rights to inherit the Leclair Family?"

The man closed the video call, nodded slightly, then fetched a bottle of Burgundy white wine he had picked out earlier and handed it to her, smiling. "White wine tonight, hmm?"

Seeing how composed he looked, casually discussing what wine to drink with her, Delphine suddenly felt defeated. This one bottle of wine alone could cost someone else an entire year’s salary. It looked like she needed to hurry and find a good script to star in. Otherwise, how was she supposed to support such a high-maintenance man?

"Don’t like it? Then we can pick something else." Rule number one of being a devoted husband: if Delphine liked it, he liked it. If Delphine disliked it, there was no way he could like it.

"This one’s fine," Delphine replied with a nod. To her, wine was all the same anyway.

"Then take it easy at home for now. Tend to the little garden when you’re free, and don’t let your mind wander too much." Seeing his calm demeanor and sensing no trace of the blow he had suffered, Delphine felt a little reassured. She decided not to press him further on why he had relinquished his inheritance rights, so as not to wound his pride.

Delphine hadn’t expected the situation to be this grave. However, this also quelled her last remaining doubts. If Ignatius were still in charge, how could anyone dare trample all over him? Ahsun was ultimately too sentimental and gentle.
