Chapter 771: Chapter 771: She’s Very Off

Delphine hadn’t eaten all day. Noticing his shirt was slightly damp, she shook her head and said hoarsely, in a low voice, "I haven’t eaten. You should go change into dry clothes first."

The smile in Ignatius Leclair’s eyes deepened. With deliberate restraint, he stretched out his arm to encircle her, leaned forward, and planted a kiss on her forehead. He chuckled softly, "Then you should also put on a jacket. Don’t catch a cold."

Delphine didn’t feel particularly cold, but she didn’t want to talk too much with him. So she obediently turned around and headed upstairs to fetch a jacket.

Ignatius had already walked to the kitchen counter to prepare a meal. The fridge was stocked with fresh vegetables and meats. Knowing she hadn’t eaten all day, he steamed some brown rice, boiled a tender sirloin steak, blanched greens and carrots, plated everything, and drizzled some specially-made sauce over it. A simple vegetarian steak and brown rice dish was soon ready.

He carried two plates of the steak and brown rice to the dining table and poured two glasses of freshly squeezed juice, before heading to shower and change clothes.

When he came downstairs, Delphine was seated at the dining table, eating. The jacket she had retrieved was still draped over the sofa. She was eating very slowly. Perhaps the meal was particularly suited to her taste—there was no trace of oiliness, and the specially-made sauce was exceptionally flavorful. By the time Ignatius arrived, Delphine had already finished an entire plate.

"Delicious? Then I’ll make it for you again tomorrow." Ignatius, now dressed in a gray loungewear set, his sharp and cold features appearing slightly softened, sat down across from her and started eating his meal.

Delphine had already polished off the vegetables. She found the boiled sirloin steak to be very tender and flavorful. Having gone a whole day without eating, her stomach couldn’t handle anything greasy. For the first time, she realized he could make such clean, vegetarian dishes. Nodding, she said, "The sauce is delicious. Where did you buy it?"

"It’s from the chief chef at a Western restaurant I used to frequent. He makes it himself and sends some over every year. If you like it, I’ll ask him to send more." Ignatius lowered his handsome face slightly and smiled as he spoke.

In truth, Ignatius hadn’t eaten all day either. Now, after having some brown rice and vegetables, he felt his stomach warm and comforted.

After finishing the meal, he went to wash the dishes. Then, with clean hands, he glanced outside. The heavy rain had stopped, and the setting sun turned the lawn in the front yard golden with its rays, opening the view into an expansive panorama.

"I’m heading to the hospital to visit Grandfather. Do you want to come along?" Seeing Delphine sitting on the sofa with a book in hand but staring blankly in a daze, Ignatius couldn’t help but laugh softly. He walked over and embraced her, asking gently.

Delphine was visibly startled but quickly nodded, saying, "I’ll go change clothes and bring some fruit for Grandfather."

Ignatius nodded. After she went upstairs, the smile at the corner of his lips gradually faded. She seemed somewhat frightened just now. Ever since they returned from the court trial, she’d been behaving oddly. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖

Ignatius kept his thoughts contained, fathomless as the sea. Since she didn’t bring it up, he wouldn’t force the matter either.

When they arrived at the hospital, Nathan Leclair seemed a bit surprised they had come by at night. He calmly remarked, "He just had a bout of temper, cried, shouted, and scolded for a while. Now he’s sulking in his room—hasn’t even eaten dinner yet. You should try talking to him."

The court trial had been kept a secret from the old man. He remained unaware until it ended, only learning of it by chance when a nurse mentioned that the heinous person had committed so many atrocious acts and even targeted his beloved grandson. The revelation had caused the old man to erupt in anger, standing in the hospital room and railing at the air.

When Nathan came by, he’d been scolded as well. Now the old man had exhausted himself from shouting and was lying in the room groaning in frustration.
