The Twisted Obsession-Chapter 329: Forgive her
Chapter 329: Forgive her
Abby’s hand lingered over Lily’s, the warmth of the connection between them both unexpected and overwhelming. The silence in the room felt sacred, like the fragile peace they had just begun to create was held in delicate balance. For months, Abby had harbored anger and hurt, convinced that there was no way forward for her relationship with Lily. But standing here, with her hand on her cousin’s growing belly, something shifted inside her.
Lily’s eyes were shimmering with tears, her lips trembling as she tried to speak. "I didn’t think you’d want to be here," she whispered, her voice cracking. "After everything... I thought I’d lost you."
Abby swallowed hard, the lump in her throat growing as the weight of Lily’s words sank in. She had been prepared to stay distant, to guard herself from any more pain, but now, in this moment, all that resentment seemed so far away. The baby between them symbolized a new beginning—something neither of them had expected but both desperately needed.
"I didn’t know if I could be here," Abby admitted, her voice soft, filled with honesty. "But I’m glad I came."
Lily’s tears spilled over, and she reached up, her fingers brushing against Abby’s hand. "I’ve missed you, Abby. I’ve missed us."
Abby felt a sharp pang in her chest. How long had it been since they had been close? Since they had been more like sisters than cousins? It felt like a lifetime ago, but seeing Lily like this—vulnerable, hopeful—made Abby realize just how much she had missed it too. Despite the betrayals, despite the misunderstandings, there was still a bond between them, one that hadn’t been completely broken.
"I’ve missed you too," Abby whispered, her voice trembling. She blinked back her own tears, surprised at how freely the emotions flowed. She had built up so many walls, especially over the last few months, that she hadn’t expected them to come crashing down so easily. But here she was, feeling everything—grief, guilt, hope, and love—all at once.
Lily’s face crumpled as a sob escaped her, and in an instant, Abby pulled her into a hug. The baby bump made it awkward, but they both laughed through their tears, the sound filled with relief. For a moment, they simply held each other, the years of tension and hurt melting away as they stood there by the Christmas tree.
Cage, who had been standing quietly by the doorway, watched them with a soft smile on his face. He had seen how hard it had been for both of them, and he knew how much this moment meant. He took a step forward, wrapping his arms around both women, pulling them into a warm, comforting embrace.
"It’s good to see this," he murmured, his voice thick with emotion. "I’ve been waiting for it for a long time."
Abby leaned into him, grateful for his presence. Cage had always been the peacemaker, the one trying to bridge the gap between them. And now, in this moment, it felt like they were finally on their way to healing.
"You’re going to be an amazing mother," Abby said softly, pulling back slightly to look at Lily’s tear-streaked face.
Lily shook her head, still overwhelmed. "I don’t know if I deserve to be," she admitted, her voice breaking. "Not after everything..."
Abby’s brow furrowed in confusion. "Lily, what are you talking about?"
Lily bit her lip, hesitation flickering in her eyes. She glanced at Cage, then back at Abby. "There’s something I need to tell you," she said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I’ve been holding on to it for too long."
Abby’s heart clenched, and she instinctively braced herself for whatever Lily was about to reveal. There had been so many secrets between them—so many lies—that she wasn’t sure if she could handle another one. But before she could say anything, Lily reached out, taking her hand.
"I found out a few months ago that the man I’ve always called Dad... isn’t my real father," Lily confessed, her voice shaking. "Mom told me everything. My biological father is someone else, and he’s—he’s dangerous."
Abby’s eyes widened in shock, the weight of Lily’s words hitting her like a freight train. "What do you mean? Who... who is he?"
Lily took a deep breath, her eyes flickering with fear and regret. "His name is Dominic," she said quietly. "Mom’s been hiding him from me my whole life. But he’s back, Abby. And he’s... he’s the one who’s been pulling all the strings."
Abby’s mind raced as she tried to process what Lily was saying. Dominic. The name sounded familiar, like a distant memory she had tried to forget. She looked at Lily, her heart aching for her cousin. "Why didn’t you tell me sooner?"
"I didn’t know how to," Lily admitted, her voice cracking again. "I was so ashamed, Abby. I didn’t want to drag you into this mess. But now... now I’m going to be a mother, and I need to make things right. I don’t want my baby growing up in a world of lies."
Abby’s chest tightened with emotion. She could see the guilt and fear in Lily’s eyes, and for the first time, she realized that Lily had been carrying her own burden all this time. They had both been trapped in their own prisons of pain, unable to reach out to each other.
"You don’t have to carry this alone," Abby said softly, squeezing Lily’s hand. "We’ll figure this out. Together."
Lily looked up at her, tears brimming in her eyes again. "I don’t deserve you," she whispered, her voice barely audible.
Abby shook her head, pulling her cousin into another hug. "You’re my family," she murmured. "We’ll get through this. No more secrets."
As they stood there, holding each other, the warmth of the fire crackling softly in the background, Abby felt a sense of peace that she hadn’t felt in years. It wasn’t perfect, and they still had a long way to go, but for the first time in a long time, she felt like they were moving in the right direction.
Remo, who had been watching the scene unfold with quiet understanding, stepped forward and wrapped his arm around Abby’s shoulders. "You ready to go?" he asked softly, his eyes full of pride and affection.
Abby nodded, a small smile playing on her lips as she glanced at Lily’s baby bump once more. "Yeah," she said, feeling lighter than she had in a long time. "I’m ready."
As they left the house, stepping out into the crisp winter air, Abby took Remo’s hand, feeling a sense of hope she hadn’t expected. Christmas was approaching, and with it, a new year—a chance to start fresh, to leave behind the bitterness and embrace the possibility of happiness. She wasn’t sure what the future held, but with Remo by her side and the possibility of mending things with Lily, she felt ready to face whatever came next.
