The Triplet Alphas' Secret Mate-Chapter 15: The Offer
Scarlett’s POV
The following morning, the sun felt too bright, its rays stinging my tired eyes as I dressed in my plain servant’s uniform. I moved gingerly, my thighs aching and the sensitive skin of my neck throbbing where Leo had marked me.
I spent ten minutes in front of my cracked mirror, carefully fastening the high collar of my shirt and using my chocolate-brown hair to shroud the blossoming purple bruises.
My heart hammered against my ribs as I balanced the heavy silver trays. It was time for the morning rounds.
I walked toward the Alpha wing, my legs shaking so violently I feared the porcelain would shatter. I reached Liam’s door first. I knocked softly, my breath hitching in my chest.
"Get out!" his voice roared from inside, sounding jagged and raw, as if he hadn’t slept for a single second.
I flinched, moving quickly toward Leon’s door. My skin crawled at the memory of his fingers inside me in the woods. I knocked, my knuckles barely brushing the wood.
"Leave the tray and go, Scarlett," he barked, his voice cold and utterly devoid of the heat from the previous night. "I don’t want to see your face."
Finally, I stood before Leo’s door. I didn’t even get the chance to knock before his low, calm voice drifted through the wood. "Don’t bother. Go away."
It seemed none of them wanted to look at the mess they had made of me. A wave of relief washed over me, followed quickly by a sharp, stinging pain. They had used me, branded me, and now they were discarding me back into the shadows.
I hurried toward the kitchens, my head down, trying to disappear into the very stone of the walls.
"Scarlett!"
A bright, cheerful voice broke through my dark thoughts. I looked up to see Jameson jogging toward me. He was only fourteen, the youngest brother of the triplets, His twin sister, Jane, was usually right behind him.
Jameson beamed at me, his eyes full of the innocence the older brothers had lost long ago.
"Tomorrow is the big day!" he chirped, falling into step beside me. "You’ll finally be twenty. Are you excited to see your wolf?"
I forced a small, tight smile. "I’m... I’m nervous, Jameson."
"Don’t be! You’re going to have a beautiful wolf," he said confidently.
It was a strange thing. The younger children—Jameson and Jane—were always so kind to me. Despite the fact that the entire pack believed my parents were the reason their mother was dead, the twins never treated me like a monster. They still saw me as the girl who used to play tag with them in the gardens.
But the triplets... they were different. After the execution, they had slammed a door shut on our friendship and locked it. They didn’t just want me to be a servant; they wanted me to suffer.
"Jane and I have a surprise for you tomorrow," Jameson whispered, leaning in with a wink. "Don’t let the big grumps ruin your day."
He gestured toward the upper balcony where I could see a silhouette watching us. It was one of the triplets—likely Liam—staring down with a gaze so heavy I could feel it on my skin.
"Thank you, Jameson," I whispered, hurrying away.
As I entered the kitchen, I gripped the edge of the table. Twenty. Tomorrow, my scent would change. Tomorrow, the world would know if I had a mate.
But After last night, I was terrified that my soul was already tied to one of the men who wanted to break me.
I stood at the kitchen table, my hands still trembling, when the head of staff approached me with a grim expression.
"Scarlett," she said, her voice dropping to a low, uneasy tone. "The Alpha Kings want to see you. Now. In their private study."
My heart didn’t just race; it stopped. The Alpha Kings. The three fathers of the triplets: Alpha Lennox, Alpha Levi, and Alpha Louis.
I made my way through the packhouse with my head bowed, feeling like a prisoner walking toward the gallows. I reached the heavy mahogany doors of the study and knocked softly.
"Enter," a deep, booming voice commanded.
I pushed the door open and stepped inside, immediately dropping into a deep bow. I didn’t dare look up. I stayed there, staring at the expensive rug beneath my feet, waiting for the anger or the shouting, because I knew something was wrong. They had never summoned me together before.
"Sit down, Scarlett," Alpha Lennox said. His voice was surprisingly calm.
I cautiously took a seat on the edge of a chair, finally looking up. The three of them were seated behind a massive desk. They were older versions of the triplets—powerful, broad-shouldered, and radiating an aura that made it difficult to breathe.
Strangely, as I looked at them, I didn’t see the hatred I expected. In the two years since my parents’ deaths, I had realized that most of my torture came from the pack members—the warriors who spat on me or the girls who tripped me in the halls. The Alphas themselves had been... quiet. They hadn’t touched me. They hadn’t ordered me to be beaten. They had simply let me exist in the shadows.
"Tomorrow is your twentieth birthday," Alpha Levi began, his sharp eyes scanning my face. He paused, his nostrils flaring slightly. I prayed he couldn’t smell his sons on me through the heavy scent of the study’s old books and leather. "You will shift for the first time. If you are lucky."
"Yes, Alpha," I whispered.
For a moment, a tense silence hung in the air, as if they were trying to gather themselves for what they were about to say.
"We are setting you free, Scarlett," they declared in unison.
The words hit me like a physical blow, knocking the air from my lungs. I sat frozen on the edge of the velvet chair, my fingers digging into the fabric of my servant’s skirt. I was certain I had misheard them. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
"Free?" I whispered.
"Yes," Alpha Louis said, leaning back in his heavy leather chair. "By tomorrow evening, we will provide you with enough money to settle in the human world. A car will be waiting at the border of our territory. You will leave this pack, Scarlett, and you will never return."
