The Trending Topic Herself: The Villainess is the Superstar!-Chapter 118: Heightened Senses
Maya Monroe has an excellent memory. She can roughly remember the routes she’s taken. While acting alone without any companions, this means Maya needs to explore the whole area by herself to look for clue cards. As long as she remembers the directions and routes, she won’t get lost and wander around like a headless chicken, and her efficiency will be the highest.
Feeling uncomfortable if she goes a while without snacks, Maya casually plucks a blade of grass from nearby and puts it in her mouth.
This type of grass is common here. Although Maya doesn’t know its name, after some testing, she knows it’s non-toxic.
Watching Maya nonchalantly hold the grass in her mouth, strolling around as if she’s simply taking a walk, the photographer following her can’t help but worry. Seeing Maya so carefree, could she really succeed in finding the golden key?
To say the least, even past guests who collaborated had to go through various planning strategies and careful observation. But with Maya’s laid-back style, it’s likely that finding anything will be difficult.
Maya is very smart, but unfortunately, she’s not very diligent in any matter; her sense of danger is incredibly weak. In her current state, it’s estimated she won’t find the golden key.
The photographer quietly sighs and decides to discuss with the director once they return, as the difficulty of their program must be reduced a bit.
[Pink is so pretty: Maya is finally taking action! Is she going to find the golden key? It’s not in vain that I’ve been waiting in front of the screen for so long! Sob sob, Maya mostly stays in the tent with only her shoes showing; now, I can finally admire her stunning beauty again!!]
[Maya: Hahaha, Maya said she was bored staying here and probably came out to find the key because she had no choice?]
[Rainbows for you to eat: Let’s just say, the current progress is indeed a bit slow; several guests haven’t made any breakthroughs, and the relationships are strained... Justin Morgan keeps causing trouble, and Miles Wallace has been acting mostly solo lately. The progress is stuck, and it’s getting more and more boring. But fortunately, Maya has started taking action, which has lifted my spirits!]
[Full of energy: Maya doesn’t seem to be in great shape; come on, cheer up! The tropical rainforest is so vast, and the challenges set by the production team are no small feat. It’s certainly not easy for Maya to search alone! Go for it, Maya!]
The staff has been following Maya, and besides the photographer, some have received word from the director to discreetly give Maya some hints.
The program’s progress can’t remain stuck here, as the audience will get bored.
The staff members, having received their orders, quietly approach Maya. But they don’t make it too obvious, using a familiar approach instead.
"Maya Monroe, you’re looking for the clue cards, right? In that case, the program team can provide you with some hints, on the condition that..."
"No need." Maya directly declines. She’s always been someone who stands firm in her own ideas. When executing her plans, any hints unrelated or contrary to her thought process are all seen as "misleading."
She has already formulated a complete and feasible plan in her mind, so there’s no need to waste time following the program team’s logic. Moreover, with any troublesome conditions, Maya now most wants to cut straight to the chase and complete the task in the shortest possible time, without taking on any additional tasks.
The staff is collectively stunned. Actually, they’ve used this "providing hints" routine more than once, and all the guests have gladly accepted it. When guests feel clueless, the program team’s hints are undoubtedly a lifeline.
But Maya... she actually directly refused!
Why refuse?
The program team really can’t understand Maya’s thoughts and mindset. Any conventional thinking just doesn’t apply to Maya.
Maya is unwilling to take on other tasks. After thinking for a moment, the staff considers indirectly giving Maya some hints instead.
Suddenly.
Maya stops in her tracks; she takes two steps forward, then squats down and uses a tree branch to lightly dig around.
Her expression is uncharacteristically serious, her movements quick and decisive.
As layer after layer of soil is cleared away, a golden yellow card gradually emerges.
Maya raises her eyebrows, her exquisitely beautiful face becoming even more animated as she lifts the card with satisfaction.
The golden card shines ever more prominently in the sunlight.
Maya’s fingertip rubs against the card, its texture smoother than paper, but she still doesn’t know what material it is made of.
The staff is utterly dumbfounded. They can’t comprehend how Maya was able to find the card’s location so accurately and without error.
If it was just a lucky coincidence, that would be absurd, as she wasn’t blindly digging around; she advanced confidently towards her goal, and directly unearthed the card hidden underground.
It was as if she was already certain the card was in that particular spot.
What made her so certain? Without any clues or accumulated experience, could it really be just incredible luck?
Maya disregards the astonished looks from those around her, focusing on reading the words on the card, analyzing them word by word.
Maya’s five senses are naturally much keener than others’, and after experiencing so many task worlds, her senses have been honed to the extreme.
She’s able to perceive very subtle differences within a large spatial area, something ordinary human eyes cannot do. This difference is a distinct contrast between a particular spot and the surrounding larger environment.
Luckily, the program team must have recently reburied or refreshed the card in some way, making her observation not too difficult.
However, the complex environment of the rainforest doesn’t only bear traces of the program team’s manipulations, so Maya also misstepped quite a few times.
But these small errors pale in comparison to the weighty card in her hand.
The accompanying staff are silent for a long while.
They’ve never encountered something so outrageous before...
How can Maya have collected so many cards in such a short amount of time... These card placements were meticulously set by them, placed in the soil, among thickets... How could Maya find the cards so quickly and efficiently? It’s unbelievable...
Moreover, the clues on the cards do not directly give answers; they contain quite a few complex puzzles, and Maya can solve them quickly in such a short time before immediately moving on to the next place without pause...
