The Trending Topic Herself: The Villainess is the Superstar!-Chapter 104: The Production Team Is So Sneaky
[Clueless Bug: Folks, quick look at Maya Monroe’s expression, what are you all standing around for, hurry and screenshot it! Maya Monroe’s classic look is back in action!!]
[Little Butterfly: Hahaha, I’m dying of laughter. I initially thought the atmosphere was tense and was worried for the guests! But then, my sister cracked me up in a second!]
[Maya: Poor Maya, go Maya!]
Jessica Young’s legs were trembling, and she felt goosebumps all over her body. She couldn’t believe this scene was real: "How can anyone survive in a place like this! There are wild animals here, what if one of us gets taken away?"
Even the usually composed and self-assured Jamie Miller was a bit shaken.
It was Paul Phillips’s first time here, and the surprise and panic on his face were no less than Jessica’s.
Miles Wallace’s expression remained calm, although his handsome eyebrows were slightly furrowed.
In contrast, Maya Monroe’s expression was the calmest of all.
Suddenly, there was a slight rustle in the dense jungle nearby, as if something had passed through.
Jessica Young hurriedly lifted her foot and hid behind Justin Morgan, screaming in terror: "There’s something! Something just passed through!!"
Justin Morgan shook off her hand: "Why are you making such a fuss! The show hasn’t technically started yet, nothing’s going to harm you! Can you just calm down?"
Jessica’s fear was somewhat dissipated by the anger she felt towards Justin: "What do you mean? I can’t even say a word? Who dares to offend me! Do you know who backs me up? You’re asking for trouble!"
Jessica had been so shaken by the environment around her that she’d lost her grip on reality.
The guide, however, did not intervene and even had a faint smile on his lips. Maybe the crew liked these kinds of conflicts and dramatic moments; discord among the guests could boost the show’s ratings.
After all, no audience enjoys a dull progression.
Once again, the good-natured Jamie Miller took on the role of mediator.
Someone handed Maya Monroe her luggage, and she took the suitcase with indifference, a far cry from her previous fervent attachment to it.
All the crew knew how Maya cherished her precious suitcase like a treasure, not even allowing anyone to touch it.
Now Maya’s couldn’t-care-less attitude surprised the staff.
The guide’s voice sounded, seemingly laced with humor, as he held a megaphone: "Dear guests, don’t panic; I pledge with my life that it’s not as dangerous here as you think!"
What was meant to be a light-hearted remark left the guests unable to laugh.
Justin Morgan asked his persistent question again: "Wasn’t the difficulty of the first task supposed to decrease gradually? Why make such arrangements now?"
The guide chuckled, his laughter amplified and somewhat jarring through the loudspeaker: "We never said the second season would follow the same pattern as the first!"
Justin Morgan was left speechless, his mouth open but unable to respond for a while.
[Crazy Potato: Hahahaha, the crew are such tricksters!]
[Grew up on Instant Noodles: The crew always have the edge! Such unexpected tactics!]
[Clueless One-Day: Can’t they just get rid of Justin? He’s so annoying with his constant blabbering!]
[Maya: Already feeling sorry for Maya darling]
[Miles Wallace’s Official Girlfriend: Go, Miles!!! Hang in there!! I’m riding my bike to get to you!]
Jamie Miller asked: "Wasn’t the first season’s first episode set in a tropical rainforest too? Why is the destination still a tropical rainforest now?"
Justin Morgan nodded vigorously: "Yeah, I’ve got the first season’s tricks all figured out. Revisiting the same place is just boring!"
The guide put a finger to his lips: "Shh! While both are tropical rainforests, the locations aren’t the same. In other words, this place is much more interesting!"
The mention of ’interesting’ was definitely mischievous; Maya Monroe could hardly stand it. This desolate place was difficult enough for finding food, let alone any fun.
The guide seemed to notice Maya’s reaction and chuckled lightly: "It seems our fourth guest, Maya Monroe, is quite looking forward to it!"
Maya turned her head away, not wanting to say a word.
The guide didn’t get upset, but rather let the smile fill his eyes.
"I’ve just answered all your questions, and I’m sure after this break, everyone’s feeling a bit more relaxed."
"First of all, welcome to our destination, the beautiful and mysterious Valdune Forest, located at Yelden’s southernmost tip!"
The applause was sparse and scattered.
The guide smiled: "Don’t be so tense; it’s not as terrifying here as you think. Believe that no difficulty is insurmountable!"
"The rules of the second season are largely the same as the first. The usual drill: six guests compete for popularity in their live-streaming rooms. The most popular one gets the most lavish meal, while the least..."
He paused: "I don’t need to say more; you all should know what that means."
As they recalled the days of eating cornbread, Jessica Young’s expression turned rather sour.
"Next, please follow my instructions. First, please open your suitcases."
Though puzzled, the others complied.
The suitcases were filled with various items. Jamie Miller brought mostly daily necessities, Miles Wallace had packed his instruments and headphones, while Jessica Young had two suitcases just for cosmetics.
Maya Monroe was different; she was somewhat guilty and reluctant to open her suitcase.
The guide’s voice rang out again: "Please, Maya, open your suitcase." 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
Clearly displeased, Maya crouched down and opened her suitcase.
Maya’s suitcase was the most unusual because it was completely empty.
The guide was taken aback: "Maya, did you not bring any luggage at all?"
Maya remained composed: "Since it’ll be confiscated anyway, I figured why bother bringing it. Lugging a suitcase around is tiring."
The guide squinted: "Then why do you carry around an empty suitcase?"
"Having a suitcase gives me a sense of security."
Maya lied without hesitation, but her serious demeanor made it hard for others to doubt her reasoning.
The guide seemed fooled by her explanation.
"Next, please choose three items from your suitcase; you can choose anything, even a speaker, but I suggest you all choose carefully!"
Everyone picked their items from their suitcases, and each person made different choices.
