Chapter 69: Ch 69: Returning to Dungeon #36- Part 2

"Do you really think the hunter’s association is more likely to listen to me, the former no.1 than the current no.1? Aren’t you discrediting yourself too much?"

Lynn asked me and he was right in a way.

However-

"I have no intention of revealing to the world that I am Ace and if the hunter’s association wants to keep their lie intact, they won’t dare acknowledge me or my existence beyond what they already have. So you are our best option by far."

I told Lynn and he looked like he understood.

"Then, why not use the hunter’s net? If you post there as Ace, you’ll send the association in panic and they will be forced to act."

Lynn told me and I had not even thought about it.

The system and hunter’s net was not something I was used to and I did not know how to use it properly either. It made me realize that I really was a middle-aged man out of the current technological touch.

"Hmm, I forgot that existed. Just give me a minute to check...fuck, what the hell are these messages?"

My inbox was filled with messages, even after filtering them and only allowing emergency messages in.

A quick look told me that reporters and other guilds had put their messages as fake-emergencies to get them past the filter.

"What’s wrong? Do you need help? I can help you if you show me your screen."

Lynn told me and I almost showed it to him before I held myself back and reminded myself that it was a stupid idea to show someone else my screen.

"No, that’s fine. I will just make a public post."

I told Lynn before I started to type.

[Emergency: Dungeon#36’s abnormal behaviour. Please keep away as there might be danger. Postpone the championship for now and stay clear for a day or two until further report comes in.]

My post sounded like a clinical report, but that was the best I could do.

I did not provide any explanation and posted the notice. Within seconds, the page buzzed and thousands of hunters swarmed to the front to check on it.

Whistle

"Oh wow-! Look at that reception. It’s even better than most celebrities. I guess people are excited to know more about you as well. Isn’t this your first public post?"

Lynn asked and I took in my empty feed that had no message until now.

The association might have taken my name or my identity, but they did not have the access to my account. That meant that they could not make a fake post in my name to make people trust them.

I took a quick look at the comments and a lot of them were...let’s say, not appropriate.

"Hey, are you both done? Shall we get going now? I can sense others’ presence close by. The prayers must be starting."

Kuro told me and I turned my attention toward him next. He was looking at the direction where the forest was thinning and I followed his lead.

Lynn followed us as well as we headed to check out the dungeon.

But just because it was calm inside the dungeon, did not mean the outside was calm as well. I had no idea what impact my little post made on the world and especially the association.

______

One second, everything was calm. People were going about their way, not caring much and the world seemed to be healing.

The next second, a single post caused chaos across the world, causing everyone to panic and all hunters to open their system to check.

How it all started? With a single post from Ace.

[Emergency: Dungeon#36’s abnormal behaviour. Please keep away as there might be danger. Postpone the championship for now and stay clear for a day or two until further report comes in.]

This was the post that held all the attention and even media and news picked up on it to start alerting people.

But no one was in more trouble than the association that had suddenly become a hot topic due to the sudden appearance of this post and Ace’s online presence.

And no one was more stressed than a certain someone who had suggested to use a fake ’Ace’ to push her son into the spotlight.

"Madam Rose, what should we do? Reporters are swarming the association buildings and asking questions. They are demanding to see Ace right now."

"The top guilds are also calling to confirm what the post means. What should we do?"

"Someone just tried to hack into our firewall and main data system. We need more backup here. Please, make a decision on what to do."

Madam Rose felt the pressure get to her. She had not expected to find herself in this situation.

Truthfully, she had never expected Ace to come back or make his presence known if he had not done so until now.

Even when she had that...encounter with Ace during the championship, it had felt like a one-time thing and she felt like as long as she kept to herself, Ace would leave her and the association alone as well.

"Madam, please tell us what we should do now-"

"Madam, make a decision-"

"Madam Rose-"

The words were getting louder and she could not take it anymore.

"Alright, fine. I get it. Ask the PR leader to meet me. And tell everyone that we will be holding a press conference."

Since all Ace had done was give out this vague message, she could use it to her and the association’s advantage.

After all, there were already abnormalities found in dungeon #36 and with this post, she could prove that the association had people’s best interest at heart.

She quickly called her brother Eddy to let him know what was happening and her brother picked up in a single ring.

"Rose, what is going on? I am scared. Everyone keeps asking me questions and I don’t understand. What the hell did you do?"

Eddy asked and Rose felt a throb in her forehead.

’Of course Eddy is unaware of what is going on. Tsk, I asked him to pay attention to the political atmosphere but all he wants to do is play games.’

Rose’s anger surged before she forcefully calmed it down. There was no point in getting angry at Eddy when she needed him urgently.

"Eddy, come to the meeting on the 40th floor right now and make sure no one notices you. This is a very important meeting...perhaps the most important meeting of your life."

Rose told her brother who suddenly felt scared. He did not like the fact that his sister was stressing him out this much.

He wanted to ask Rose more but she had already cut off the call and he was left hanging.

Eddy’s instincts told him that it would be for the best if he broke off relations with Rose and whatever she was planning as soon as possible.

But he was too dependent on her to do that. So in the end, he just swallowed his nervousness and headed toward the conference room. His hardship was just starting from this point on anyway.
