Chapter 57: Ch 57: Next Round- Part 3

Both Lee Minho and I stepped into the last section of this segment and I felt the air shift.

The Alpha in front of me gave me a small gesture of warning before I felt a small needle flying my way. I kept walking and pretended to naturally dodge that attack.

The attacker likely felt frustrated and I was quite sure that they would jump out to take me down soon.

"Here they come."

Lee Minho told me before he snapped his fingers and the earth in front of him flew up to form a shield in front of him.

From behind the shield, the Alpha wasted no time in forming blades of wind in his hand and attacking his opponents.

I was a little further away from Lee Minho, but even I could feel the sharp bite of wind from his wind blades when he threw them out.

Lee Minho was strong, and I could tell that he deserved his spot as the #35 in the hunter’s world.

But no matter how impressive he was, could he compete with the no.1 hunter like me? The answer was a solid no.

’Still, this is not bad. I had never taken advantage of another hunter like this. I was always the one getting taken advantage of by others. This feels nice...’

I walked behind Lee Minho as he kept clearing the way for me. I was going to keep this up until I had a clear view of the finish line.

Or that was my plan before I realized that I had been spotted and I was the next prey of these hunters.

A hunter rushed at me to take me out, but I grabbed his wrist and twisted it. The hunter grunted in pain, his eyes widening and I gave him a sharp glare.

"Well, it’s your fault for attacking me like this. Why do you look so startled when I stopped you?"

I questioned and the Alpha hunter had seconds to react before I used him as a shield from other attacks.

None of the other attacks were fatal, but they left the Alpha in my grip unconscious so I let him go.

"Let’s see. What should I do with these cute rascals today? Ideally, I don’t want to show off too much for them..."

I muttered before I had a great idea. With the finish line so close to me, I did not need to fight these hunters. All I needed to do was distract them enough for me to make it across the finish line.

And I had the perfect tool to do that.

"Lee Minho, close your eyes."

I yelled toward the Alpha but I did not stop to see whether he followed my instructions or not. The next second, a bright light filled the air around the arena and everyone closed their eyes instinctively.

[Skill: Lighting Ball has been activated]

I used the reaction time to run toward the exit. No one was able to react because they were not able to see...or so appeared to be the case.

But I felt someone rushing toward me seconds before I reached the finish line and I did what I needed to. I stepped aside to let the other person run past me toward the finish line.

Rhiner’s wide eyes looked at mine and I gave him a disappointed look with my eyes.

"Tsk, and here I thought you had some honor in you. Looks like I was wrong about you."

I told the Alpha and he looked even more startled. But he was not able to stop me from crossing the finish line and qualifying.

Since I had already crossed the finish line, there was nothing else the other competitors could do about me and they hurried to cross the finish line as well.

"Tsk, do you think I will allow you all to run so easily?"

Lee Minho asked, now pissed that he had been attacked in the first place. Before the hunters knew it, they were dragged beneath the earth, half-buried in it.

Thankfully for them, Lee Minho had enough control to not crush them and just keep them below the earth. After that, Lee Minho crossed the line as well and qualified.

From the corner of my eyes, I also saw Lynn in the clear section and he looked like he had not even broken a sweat when he made it here.

There were still 10 minutes left on the clock but I did not see my team anywhere. I was the only one who made it across.

I felt a little worried about them but there was someone else I needed to worry about more.

Lee Minho grabbed my collar as soon as he found me and he shook me.

"Hey you-! How dare you try and use me as a shield and then blind me like that. Do you have a death wish?"

The Alpha asked, now irritated that he had been outsmarted by an omega. And not just any omega, but an omega he had been protecting.

"You are the one who told me to run toward the finish line. Didn’t I do as you told me to?"

I asked calmly and the Alpha suddenly looked confused and flustered. He did not seem to know what he was feeling.

Not that I blamed him for it. This was something most Alpha hunters went through. I had seen my companions struggle with this as well once they realized that I was much stronger than them all. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

The one who showed the most clear signs was Eric...

’Stop thinking about Eric and the past. You have a future to protect...’

I reminded myself and Lee Minho also calmed down.

"Y-You are right. I...sorry-! I had no idea what came over me. I-"

"Manet, you made it? Thank god. I was so sure you were going to get crushed."

Sam’s huge body slammed into mine and seconds later, Joshua, Amy and Sasha made their way toward me as well. They were all alive and had cleared this part.

"Ah, yes. I am fine. But can you let me go now? Otherwise, I would get crushed..."

I told Sam and he lightened his grip on me with a sheepish look on his face.

"Ah sorry... I just got too excited. What were you doing anyway? Were you talking to someone before I tackled you?"

The beta civilian asked and I turned to look at where Lee Minho was before. But he had already left as soon as others had arrived.

I turned toward my team as well, not wanting them to worry about unnecessary things.

"There is nothing to worry about. I was not talking to anyone either. So, what’s next?"

I asked my team and they seemed all too happy to guide me toward their section.

"Luckily, this round eliminated most of the competition, so we will likely proceed to semi-finals after this. It’s finally time for us to step into the dungeon."

Joshua told me but he looked tense. He was glaring at the other side of the stage where the Alpha who had betrayed him stood.

I had a feeling that things were about to get complicated but I also did not want to back out now. Especially when my goal was so close to fulfillment.
