Chapter 117: Ch 117: Lynn’s invitation- Part 6

’The return of our lord is a given truth. Everything else is just a distraction to keep ourselves amused until his return. There is nothing humans can do to stop it from happening. But they do make amusing entertainment.’

Amused eyes looked at the investigation team as they struggled against the sudden onslaught of the monsters that had appeared.

They all tried their best to defend the burned building, but it seemed to be useless. The monster number was too large.

"Darn it-! Where did these monsters come from? Why is there a dungeon break here? The public will have our head. They will question whether we hid a dungeon in the association for personal profit or not."

Someone complained from beside Rudy, but he pretended he did not hear the complaint.

He already knew why this was happening—he had been the one to open the dungeon.

But it was no more than a distraction to point everyone’s attention toward the association so that his real actions would go unnoticed.

Not that he needed to work hard. The associations were experts at causing their own troubles.

"S-Sir, we have already started to get the calls from the media. What should we do?"

The other executives around Rudy suddenly got worried. They had no idea what to do next because the one who usually handled all this was Rose.

But now, Rose had gone missing, and Rudy knew that Rina had already taken care of Rose and used her soul for her ceremony.

She would never be seen again. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

’Ah well, it is all in my favor now. The more these people panic, the more they let their guard down and allow me to control them. In the end, humans are not a big deal. They might be easier to deal with compared to demons.’

With Rose gone, the next in line for these executives to rely on was him.

And unlike Rose, Rudy was going to take full advantage of this situation and change humans from annoyances trying to hinder their lord to a big help.

"Tsk, why is there no end to these things? We might need to find the dungeon soon or else, we would be too exhausted to continue."

Lynn sounded tired as he fought the monsters.

He was currently holding back his power because he was not in a dungeon, and he did not want to harm the other buildings. But holding back was much more exhausting compared to going all out.

Even the scope of the power he could use was not the same.

I understood his struggle quite well because I had to often suppress my power while fighting as well, and it was a miserable experience.

’I need to quickly recover and join Lynn and the others. Ugh, where is my potion? The cooldown to take it should be over now.’

By now, I had already drunk two potions, but my body had not fully recovered yet. But a third one should do the trick because I could start to move even now.

As soon as the cooldown ended, I emptied the bottle in my hand and forced myself onto my feet. I took out a knife next and rushed toward the monsters.

My goal was to force my way through these monsters and head toward the dungeon. I could sense the energy of the gate even from my current position.

The number of monsters was high, and my abilities were tailored to deal with them. I used a small explosion, and the monsters evaporated from around me.

"We have an opening. Hurry, get to the center of the problem-"

Someone yelled as they tried to come near my side. But more monsters covered their path.

’Tsk, what fools. Just because I opened a way does not mean they would be able to use it as well. They need to be near my level to even follow me.’

Not that the hunters seemed to understand that. Most of them were only here as backup or to investigate. Fighting was not their forte.

Not that they were any of my problem. I focused on getting to the dungeon gate, and the energy felt even purer once I got close to it.

I could tell that this was not an ordinary dungeon gate. But to close it, I needed to enter it.

’Tsk, now is not the time to hold back. I need to get in now.’

I reminded myself, even when my instincts told me that it was not safe. My body disappeared in the light of the dungeon gate, and when I opened my eyes, I saw an altar that looked almost like a sacrificial altar in the middle of it.

The altar was the anchor that connected this world and the dungeon, and as soon as I smashed it, the dungeon collapsed.

But there were more than a few weird things about that dungeon.

First, that altar was not natural. Someone must have made it, but I could not sense anything. And second, as soon as I had entered the dungeon, the monsters had stopped attacking me.

It was as if they knew they needed to avoid me for some reason. It all felt too... strange for me to not question.

But time was of the essence, so I did not get to investigate, and the dungeon threw me out into that burnt building. And somehow, I was finally able to relax after all that happened.

"Ace, are you alright? I felt the dungeon collapse. You did that, right? Do you have any injuries that we need to take care of?"

Lynn asked as he hurried up to me. No one else dared to even come close.

"I am fine. That dungeon was not hard. In fact, there was no danger inside the gate for some reason. But I don’t like the fact that it opened here and now of all times. The timing feels a little... too coincidental."

I had no idea why, but that dungeon felt like a distraction from the real problem at hand. Something in the back of my mind told me that the dungeon was to hide something else.

But what that ’something’ was, I had no idea. And that frustrated me to no end.

"Hmm, so you got the feeling that the association was being framed as well? Not that we can do anything about it for now. If we make any sudden moves, then we might get caught up in something we are not supposed to."

Lynn seemed to have figured out that something was wrong as well, and we shared a look before I stepped forward to calm everyone down.

"You all need to calm down. The dungeon has been taken care of. The evidence points to it being a newly formed dungeon, so there is no need to mass panic right now."

I told everyone the truth, and they paused. Suspicion colored their eyes as they took in my words.

And finally, a brave journalist decided to step forward and speak up.

"How can we believe you are telling the truth? You could be trying to cover up for the association. You were affiliated with them for a long time."
