Chapter 103: Ch 103: Awkward Moment- Part 1

Someone was moving not too far away from me, and that moment woke me up as well.

I rubbed my eyes, only to see Theo trying to sneak away from my bed.

"Where are you going? Stay still."

I told the alpha before my brain could catch up with my body and remind me why this was a bad idea.

Theo seemed to agree as well because he gave me a nervous look while he tried to shuffle his hands around.

"K-Kyle, I don’t think that’s such a good idea right now. I-I mean, I need to go to the bathroom, so please let me go."

Theo told me, but my brain felt like it was filled with cotton at the moment, and I tightened my grip on him even more. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

"No, don’t go. You can hold it in for a while, right?"

I asked, now slowly coming back to myself and realizing what I just said made me blush as well. Theo was even more red-faced than before (if possible), and his eyes looked down toward his bottom.

My eyes naturally followed before facing the problem, and I let go of the alpha almost as if I were burned by him.

"I-I need to go now. I will see you later."

Theo told me as he shuffled his feet to hide the evidence of what he was going through. Not that it mattered anymore because I had seen it all clearly.

My face remained flushed, and my eyes had a glassy look to them as I tried to come to terms with what just happened.

But Theo’s flushed face and his... circumstances kept flashing in front of my eyes.

"Kyle—! Are you awake now? Come have breakfast."

Thankfully, Emma was here to remind me that I could not live my life thinking about that one moment forever, and I managed to push myself to move around and head down.

Theo was not here yet, but both Emma and Ben were sitting at the table and had started to eat.

"Emma, what’s for breakfast?"

I asked in the casual way I usually did, but Emma’s expression had a tightness to it that made me pause. She looked... almost scared of me.

No, that was not the right word.

Emma was not scared of me, but she was not very forthcoming either. She was rather reserved with how she acted around me ever since she found out the truth.

It felt... bad to be subjected to this behavior from her. But I did not want to bring this topic up either.

Even Ben noticed the odd atmosphere, but he also decided not to speak up and simply eat his food. It was quiet around us after that, and I kept looking at the pair once in a while.

I only froze for a few seconds when Theo walked into the room and sat beside me. He piled up his food, and for the first time, Emma spoke.

"Is the food alright? I tried to make something new today and copied the recipe from online. I am afraid it might not be as good as usual."

Emma asked nervously, and I had a feeling that the question was as much for me as it was for Theo.

Theo noticed the weird air in the room as well. But unlike us all, he chose not to ignore it.

"Hmm, it’s delicious. What about you, Kyle? Do you like the food as well?"

Theo asked and turned toward me. It caused the other two to look at me as well as I took another bite of the food.

"It’s good. Emma, you did a good job."

I told the older female, and she flushed at my praise. She opened her mouth, likely to say something to me, but then closed it in fear and went quiet.

"Ah... is that so? I am glad that the food is to your taste. Do let me know if you need anything else."

She told me with a stiffness in her voice that was not there before she knew of my identity.

And just like that, I regretted speaking up about my identity to her. I felt like it would have been better had I kept quiet about myself.

The air was thick with tension, and there was no ignoring the weird atmosphere that had been created because of what happened.

So there was only one thing I could propose in such a condition.

"Do you want me to... make you forget about all of this? If you feel awkward, I can make you forget all about me being Ace, and we can go back to how we used to be."

I told Emma and Ben, giving them a way out of this situation.

However, my words made Emma look angry for some reason. Her eyes looked at mine with a fire I had not seen in her before.

"Don’t you dare do that—! I know I am not in a position to say anything to you, and I also know that I am not the best person to tell your secrets to. But I do care about you, and I want to help you out. So don’t you dare make me forget—"

Emma suddenly caught herself in her outburst, and her face went red. She seemed to be struggling with what she needed to say, and I tried to reach for her.

But Ben was faster as he clutched her shoulder and helped her stabilize.

"You need to calm down, Emma. Otherwise, you will give yourself a headache. Kyle, don’t think too much about what Emma said. She’s a little stressed right now, but both she and I care about you. We just need some time to come to terms with what we learned."

Ben told me, and I understood his reasoning... no, rather than that, I was willing to believe that these two had a reason to act that way.

And if time was all they needed, then I was willing to give that to them. After all, time was something I had in spades right now.

"This all reminds me... when are we returning to the PC Cafe? Don’t we need to resume the business? And also check up on the place?"

Theo asked, and everyone paused their eating.

We had all forgotten about the PC Cafe—the very place we worked at.

Emma sighed as she gathered herself to speak.

"I had a call from the Hunter’s Association earlier telling us that we can return and resume our business normally from tomorrow. Ben and I would go and check the cafe tomorrow and then resume from the day after if everything is alright."

Emma’s words lightened a burden in my mind I did not even know I had. But just to be sure, I needed to ask her something.

"Regarding that... I am a part of your staff, right, Emma? You are not thinking of firing me or something, right?"

I asked, and Emma blinked at me with a shocked expression on her face.

"Fire... you? Why would I fire you? Kyle, do you want to be fired?"

She asked, and I immediately replied.

"Of course not. But I just thought... please treat me as you regularly do and do not hesitate to work me to the bone."
