The Tales of Draconic Warlock-Chapter 290 : First Quest (7)
We returned to the guild to submit our quests. There was no reason to delay it any further. We did what was necessary for the quest and in addition to that, cleared a few pests.
For today, that would be enough.
We need to check what the gains were and for that it's best to check them at the Inn, rather than outside, where others could see what we have, attracting unwanted attention.
So, first went to the guild to complete our quests before leaving for the Inn.
---
When we entered the guild, almost the entire guild became silent.
They are surprised.
They are surprised to see us intact. I can say that's not the scenario they should have thought happening but a different one.
The entire guild members knew what was happening but did nothing.
Well, I can't blame them. It's already good that not all are greedy for things that don't belong to them.
Also, knowing and proving are different things. Though these people knew what those thugs were up to, they couldn't exactly stop them.
Who can watch others all the time?
Unless they were paid for that, or they have a screw loose in their minds, no one would be willing to waste their time and resources for someone that they have no connection with.
If those thugs knew that they were being watched, they wouldn't be doing anything criminal that might result in ending them up in prison or on a wanted poster.
So, keeping a watch on them would be a waste of resources. Unless there was proof of their activities, the guild couldn't arrest them or issue a warrant based on some rumours.
Those thugs, as long as they don't leave any evidence, were golden but that doesn't mean that the other adventurers or the guild members are blind to their activities.
This is why they were surprised as they should have already guessed that those thugs were eying our group and our group might end up dead. It's a maybe, not a certain.
Even if we weren't dead, those thugs should have returned long before us. If they had decided to not attack us, they should have returned to the guild by now, squatting here and eyeing for any potential riches that would appear.
I mean, I would be doing that if I were a thug myself.
They didn't return for long and that meant, they decided to act and that meant we should be dead but we weren't. So, the members and the adventurers are a bit surprised and at the same time confused.
Whether they were surprised or confused had nothing to do with me nor with the twins. We were here to submit the quests and that's exactly what we did.
We submitted a quest each, collected our rewards and returned to the Inn that we are staying. It's time to check the loot.
---
"So, how many have we gained?" Angel asked as sat down to see what we gained.
Well, among the twins, she is a bit feisty and impatient, while Celine is steady and appears aloof most of the time, except when it involves her sister.
"Patience Angela, we have not even opened the pouches and the rings. How can one say what they have without checking the items?" I shook my head in utter bewilderment about her.
She was a teacher at the Royal Academy.
Yeah, Was.

The twins kind of decided to enjoy life. They are not too old and are talented ones, who from a young age were obsessed with training and levelling up, which made them lose the chance to enjoy many things.
Though they didn't exactly say their ages, they did say that they joined the academy just sometime after graduation. How much time elapsed in between, they didn't say and I didn't ask.
Judging from that, they should be considered as monstrous geniuses of this era. At least when considering Glessaria, not the world.
In the world, geniuses like that should be a lot more than we can think.
I mean in a small kingdom, there are already the twins and a few more from what I heard in the information that was given to me by the twins.
So, in a big empire like Redthorne, there should be a lot of geniuses like that. Moreover, there is not one empire but a lot of empires and that means, there should be hundreds if not thousands of geniuses like that.
Anyway, my point was that the twins never got to enjoy their lives and now they do. I will make sure of that. Well, that's at least what I could do for my girl and the one that might be mine in the future.
"Angela, count these. Celine, these for you to count and I will count what we gained from these", I said as I divided the spoils to count to each other.
---
"Hmm, I counted a thousand in gold, fifty pieces of Silver Deer Cores,....", Celine counted what was found in the pouches and rings that were given to her.
Next Angela gave the loot count, finally followed by me.
Well, we earned a lot.
Only counting gold, there were more than three thousand. Of course, not all in gold coins but some silver and copper too but those are not the main gains.
The biggest gain was a token.
It was in Angela's allocation which she couldn't guess what it was for and neither could Celine.
I couldn't either but I have a Cosmic Market and using that, I found out what it is.
It's a token to enter a secret realm.
Secret realms mean a lot of resources and having a pass to enter the secret realm means that one can reap the resources of that secret realm.
The only issue was that I now knew that this token let us enter the secret realm but I have no idea where it is. So, even though that is the greatest gain, it is something that we can't use at this moment. So, the value has dropped by a lot.
---
Regarding the token, I didn't want to keep it for myself. I skipped about the Cosmic Market and laid out an idea that the token is like a key to something like a safe or a secret realm.
I didn't give anything definitive but planted the idea that it gives access to a secret realm.
Even though they were excited, I deflated that balloon by saying that we don't know where that is. We can only wait and see if our luck is good enough for us to find it one day.
