Chapter 208: Eldritch Zombies, Confirmed

Down on the forest floor, Dynamis and her silent red-haired guard stood near a large, blooming flower that a helpful fairy was coaxing open with delicate magic.

The petals unfurled like a living gateway, revealing a swirling portal of soft green and gold light that shimmered with the certainty of safe passage out of Fairylynch.

Dynamis had just lifted one powerful leg to step through when the assisting fairy suddenly let out a piercing scream and shot upward into the canopy, her wings beating in blind terror.

Something had appeared. It materialized without warning: grotesque, amorphous, and grey as wet clay left too long in the rain.

Its flesh constantly shifted and bubbled across its body like living mud, rippling and reforming in nauseating waves.

It possessed no real eyes, only smooth, sunken pits where eyes should have been.

Its mouth was partially sealed shut by overlapping folds of that same fleshy mass, but as it strained to open wider, the restrictive tissue tore with wet, tearing sounds, revealing rows of jagged, razor-sharp teeth that gleamed like a shark’s.

The creature’s overall silhouette vaguely suggested something humanoid, yet the way it moved destroyed any illusion of humanity.

It scuttled forward on all fours, its torso twisting unnaturally at the waist while its head rotated a full three hundred and sixty degrees in a slow, searching motion, hunting for victims with eerie, silent patience.

"Gross..." Benjamin recoiled instinctively, stomach churning at the sight.

Then he turned quickly to Isabelle, who had stopped running beside him. "Hey, shouldn’t we help her down there?"

They had halted completely now, standing on the high vine and looking down at the unfolding scene below.

"...There’s no need for that," Isabelle answered calmly, her green eyes steady as she watched the events unfold without any visible panic.

"Huh? What do you mean no need?" Benjamin echoed, confusion and concern mixing in his voice as he glanced back and forth between her serene face and the monstrous creature now advancing on Dynamis and her guard.

Looking back at the scene unfolding far below, the grotesque grey demon seemed to have sensed Dynamis’s powerful presence even from a distance.

Its headless, eyeless form suddenly jerked to attention, the bubbling flesh across its body rippling with unnatural urgency.

Then it began to move terrifyingly fast, its hands and legs flailing in a nightmare-inducing manner, limbs whipping and twisting wildly just to propel itself toward her in a desperate, lurching charge.

But—

KPAAA!

The demon suddenly splashed apart with a wet, explosive sound, its entire body bursting into a messy spray of black blood that splattered across the soft moss and stained the vibrant greenery in dark, ugly streaks.

"Huh? What... was that?" Benjamin wondered aloud, his voice barely above a whisper as he stared down from the high vine.

Though deep down he already knew exactly what had happened.

[Was that a punch? Her left hand seemed to blur for the briefest instant, but she struck it somehow from several feet away, and the creature turned into nothing more than a smear of black blood on the ground.]

{That is correct, Master. But it is difficult for me to accurately gauge either her strength level or the demon’s from such limited and swift data.}

Then, as if nothing of any importance had occurred, Dynamis didn’t even spare the destroyed creature a single glance.

She simply continued walking forward with calm, unhurried steps and stepped straight into the fully bloomed flower portal.

Her silent, emotionless guard followed right behind without a word.

The moment they passed through, the flower’s petals stopped glowing, folded inward gently, and closed back up as though the gateway had never existed at all.

Isabelle placed a light hand on Benjamin’s arm and urged him forward.

"Let us go and help the others," she said softly but firmly. "Claire, Clay, and Roselyn are already there fighting."

"Of course, let’s run."

After racing along the elevated vine pathways for several more minutes, Benjamin and Isabelle finally reached a wide, open area that overlooked the border.

Benjamin paused at the edge of a thick, truck-wide vine, inhaling and exhaling as he took in the full scale of the carnage unfolding below.

The landscape beyond the dense extraordinarily large forest was a broad, rolling plain of lush green grass that stretched toward a sheer cliff edge.

They were truly high up among the clouds, the ground far below hidden by drifting white mist.

But covering the entire field like a living, writhing carpet of ants swarming over spilled sugar were the grotesque demons, hundreds upon hundreds of them.

They poured in endlessly from the cliff’s edge, scrambling and slithering toward Fairylynch’s protected territory in a relentless tide.

The fairies were doing everything they could to repel the invasion.

Bursts of colorful magic lit up the sky, sparkling barriers, razor-sharp vines, and glittering projectiles... but some of the demons were still slipping through the defensive lines and disappearing into the forest depths.

Yet two things stood out with urgent importance right now. Two things felt distinctly odd and deeply unsettling.

The first was this: the moment Benjamin appeared standing tall on the thick vine, watching the chaos, the demons began to instinctively shift the entire focus of their attack toward him.

As if drawn by an invisible magnet, dozens upon dozens of the grey, mud-like creatures tilted their mindless advance in his direction.

They started running, crawling, and lurching straight toward him, clearly sensing that his magic power was the greatest and most tempting source present on the entire battlefield.

The second odd thing, the one that truly held Benjamin’s attention, was what he was staring at across the distance.

A naked woman stood at a far corner of the cliff, several hundred meters away from Benjamin’s elevated position.

Her entire eyes were pitch black, with only glowing yellow pupils burning like twin miniature suns trapped inside dark voids.

Her skin was a deep, ashen grey, and thick, bulging veins pulsed visibly across her body like living ropes wrapped around a beating heart.

Her hair hung rough and damp, clinging to her head and shoulders in heavy strands, while occasional eyeballs sometimes protruded eerily from random spots on her head, neck, and stomach, blinking and rolling around independently in slow, disturbing motions.

She had a voluptuous figure, full and curvaceous, yet her breasts bore jagged teeth along certain edges, her claws were long and razor-sharp like curved short swords, and her skin constantly flowed and shifted along her body like thick, moving mud.

Her neck kept clicking and twitching unnaturally every time she tried to turn her head, producing soft, wet popping sounds that Benjamin’s supernatural ears could hear even across the distance.

Despite her monstrous appearance, she radiated an overwhelming amount of magic power, second only to Benjamin’s own in raw intensity within the entire area.

There was one word that came closest to describing what Benjamin saw: "Eldritch Zombies."

Flanking her were five more stable-looking beings.

They were completely faceless except for a steady golden glow emanating from where their faces should have been.

Each possessed the exact silhouette of a physically fit human—two of them clearly shaped like women with pronounced breasts and feminine curves, while the other three were unmistakably muscular and male-like—yet they too were faceless.

The five individuals stood with an undeniable aura of menace, giving off strong boss-level vibes that made the air around them feel heavier and more oppressive.

Benjamin turned to Isabelle with a serious expression, his voice low and urgent.

"So... she must be the demon queen, and those five are her generals, right?"

But Isabelle’s eyes were wide open in extreme shock.

Her usual calm composure had completely shattered; she looked genuinely stunned, her wings trembling slightly behind her.

"No," she whispered, voice barely audible over the distant sounds of battle. "I’ve never seen her or those five in my entire life."

"How come you’re more shocked than me?!" Benjamin winced, glancing back and forth between her pale face and the terrifying group on the cliff.

"No, it’s usually just a few scattered demons that we kill off immediately," Isabelle explained quickly, her words tumbling out in a rush. "This is the first time I’m seeing such a massive number of them gathered together... and those six individuals too. Those beings feel completely different from the normal Fairylynch demons we know... They feel like titans."
