Chapter 820: Chapter 816: In Time

"Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap! Slap..."

The crisp sounds were endless in the deep alley, and with every slap, Ye Chenfeng measured his strength precisely. He wanted to get more proficient with the step technique he had just realized on the body of Ling Bao in front of him.

The tempest raged, shrinking the ground into inches.

An overwhelming power surged under Ye Chenfeng’s feet, propelling his speed higher and higher.

In the blink of an eye, Ling Bao’s entire face no longer looked human. His skin was completely torn, his bones caved in, his face covered in blood, his hair a wild mess; he resembled a madman.

"Ah~"

After being slapped in the face over and over by Ye Chenfeng, the excruciating pain on his cheeks finally made Ling Bao unable to hold back his roar, his Soul Force swelling uncontrollably as he shouted, "Ye Chenfeng, how dare you humiliate me! I want you dead, I want you dead, I want you dead."

Ling Bao attacked Ye Chenfeng frantically, disregarding everything. Ye Chenfeng, on his feet, effortlessly used the very steps he had just practiced to handle Ling Bao’s wild attacks.

Sensing the climbing Soul Force within Ling Bao, Ye Chenfeng had almost mastered this new step technique. Now was the time to put an end to Ling Bao’s life. Many powerhouses tend to breakthrough suddenly in life-or-death situations.

Of course, Ye Chenfeng wouldn’t give Ling Bao such an opportunity. If Ling Bao were to breakthrough, then his strength would rise to the King Level, and Ye Chenfeng might not be a match for him anymore.

The tempest raged, shrinking the ground into inches.

As Ye Chenfeng dodged Ling Bao’s frenzied attacks, his figure instantly drew close to Ling Bao’s body. With his right shoulder bone shattered, Ye Chenfeng could only move his left arm now. He concentrated the surging Soul Force into his left arm for another slap towards Ling Bao’s cheek.

This slap, unlike the previous ones, was delivered with Ye Chenfeng’s full force.

With his face bloodied and bones nearly all broken, Ling Bao’s pupils suddenly dilated. He knew he couldn’t avoid this slap. He knew he was going to die at Ye Chenfeng’s hands. Filled with unwillingness, he muttered, "To think I, Ling Bao, would die like this? Ye Chenfeng, you’re a genius, but I wonder how long your brilliance will shine? There are many things in this world you can’t resist, you..."

"Slap!"

"Boom!"

Ling Bao’s voice abruptly ceased as Ye Chenfeng’s slap completely obliterated his head, splashing blood and brain matter all over Ye Chenfeng’s left hand.

"Woo woo~ Woo woo~"

Ye Chenfeng watched as Ling Bao’s headless corpse slowly fell to the ground. The shrill sound of police sirens grew louder as they approached the alley. Ye Chenfeng smiled faintly and said, "No matter where they are, the police always arrive quite timely."

Just like in the TV dramas, most of the time, the police only comically arrive after everything has already ended.

Duan Nan and the others were just temporarily unconscious; a couple of days’ rest in the hospital and they would recover. With so much having happened in the alley, the two snipers on the rooftop had probably left long ago.

Four police cars, one Mercedes-Benz van, and the undercarriage of a bus all had been rigged with explosives. Ye Chenfeng suspected there might be a mole inside the police department, so he had to make a trip there to root them out, especially since he planned to stay in Nangang a while longer. If someone were to covertly plant bombs around him again, that would be quite unfortunate.

Furthermore, the appearance of a Peak King Level Soul Force expert gave Ye Chenfeng a very bad premonition. At this point, he didn’t have any leads, but he believed the police department would know more than he did, so he wanted to get detailed information about Nangang’s situation from them.

Having just gone through a massacre, Ye Chenfeng suddenly felt like having a smoke. As for the fractured ribs on his left side and the broken bones in his right shoulder, he could endure them; moreover, those injuries didn’t necessitate a hospital visit, as he could heal faster on his own.

Ye Chenfeng walked over to the unconscious Zhang Chengye, wiping the blood and brain matter from his left hand onto Zhang Chengye’s clothes. He searched Zhang Chengye’s pocket with his left hand, finding a pack of Zhonghua cigarettes and a lighter. He put a cigarette in his mouth, lit it up, leaned against the wall, and blew ring after ring of smoke.

"Attention, attention, there has been a massive explosion here, and there have been no situations nearby. It’s highly likely that the criminal is in the alley. Everyone, get your firearms ready and slowly approach the alley."

Outside the dark alley, about a dozen police cars appeared. A female police officer with a striking presence and a fiery figure was holding a pistol, instructing the thirty or so officers following her to slowly move towards the mouth of the dark alley.

As the female officer leaned against the wall next to the alley entrance and took several deep breaths, she sidestepped and appeared at the entrance of the alley, with the muzzle of her pistol aimed down the alley.

The other officers followed suit, aiming their pistols down the alley as well.

A breeze blew through the evening, adding an extra chill to the air.

The silvery moonlight in the night sky poured down like pure flowing water, illuminating the scene within the alley, bringing it into view for the officers.

When the officers smelled the heavy scent of blood coming from the alley, and saw the headless bodies on the ground, what was more fatal was that, amidst such a scene, there was a man whose clothes were soaked with blood, leaning casually against the wall, blowing out perfect rings of smoke from his mouth.

"Ugh—Ugh—"

Many of the less-stomached officers started to bend over and vomit upon seeing the scene in the alley.

However, after some of the female officers vomited, their gaze towards Ye Chenfeng was filled with a trace of admiration when they looked at him.

Such a blood-drenched scene, with his clothes covered in blood, and yet Ye Chenfeng stood there smoking as if nothing had happened; this stark contrast was a deadly allure for women.

But not everyone was swayed.

Take for example the commanding female officer; she aimed the dark muzzle of her gun at Ye Chenfeng and shouted, "Hands on your head, squat down, or I’ll shoot!"

Ye Chenfeng ignored the female officer’s commands. After finishing his last puff of smoke, he threw the cigarette butt on the ground and stamped it out before saying, "We’ve been attacked by ninjas from the Island Nation. I am a doctor who came from Capital City to assist in researching the treatment of infectious diseases. These people on the ground are not dead yet; you should immediately take them to the hospital."

Under normal circumstances, Ye Chenfeng would have treated Duan Nan and the others directly, but now he had also sustained very serious injuries. He couldn’t afford to expend any more Soul Force. Besides, Duan Nan and the others were not in any life-threatening danger and just needed a few days of rest in the hospital.

Hearing Ye Chenfeng’s words, the commanding officer didn’t relax her vigilance and still barked, "I said, hands on your head! Did you not hear me?"

Ye Chenfeng didn’t intend to clash with the police. Before leaving Capital City, those high-ranking elders had given him a special card that allowed him to take action first and report later in urgent situations, of course under the condition that no laws were broken.

Ye Chenfeng took the card from his pocket and flung it towards the commanding female officer. It landed right in front of her toes. Bending down to pick up the card, she recognized the seal as genuine and matched the photo on the card with Ye Chenfeng’s face; it was a perfect match.

However, the commanding female officer was not pleased with Ye Chenfeng’s attitude. She found Ye Chenfeng’s name and his face very familiar but couldn’t recall where she had seen him at the moment.

"If you have time to stand there stupidly, you might as well hurry up and arrange for the injured to be taken to the hospital," Ye Chenfeng said casually.

The commanding female officer temporarily put her pistol away and ordered the officers behind her, "Contact the hospital, take the victims at the scene to the hospital for treatment immediately."

Then, the commanding officer turned an unfriendly gaze back towards Ye Chenfeng and said, "You must come to the police station with me."

Ye Chenfeng had already decided to make a trip to the police station, so he naturally didn’t object, saying, "I was planning to go to the police station to find out about some things."

"Hmph!" The commanding female officer gave an irritated snort through her nose upon hearing Ye Chenfeng’s response.
