The Strongest Dandy in the City-Chapter 690: The Momentum is Like a Rainbow, Equally Matched
Chapter 690: Chapter 690: The Momentum is Like a Rainbow, Equally Matched
Everyone had assumed that Ye Chenfeng would have a tough time facing seven Heaven Rank High Grade masters and two half-step Innate masters, but who would have thought, Ye Chenfeng not only repelled six Heaven Rank High Grade masters with his presence alone, but also utterly crippled Zhong Tianchi, who possessed half-step Innate strength, in the blink of an eye. Even if Zhong Tianchi survives today, he will likely be a complete invalid for the rest of his life—a blow so severe that few could endure.
Just as those present were once again stunned by Ye Chenfeng’s strength, and as Ye Chenfeng was about to make his move on Du Wannian, accompanied by a formidable voice, a white figure shot out from the Guiyuan Sect’s grand hall at an incredible speed, like a cannonball.
This white figure was an old man who looked to be in his nineties, perhaps even over a hundred years old. The old man was dressed in a white robe, his face covered with dense wrinkles, yet his body was extremely robust, as could be seen from the speed at which he had burst forth from the grand hall.
The old man in the white robe was the previous Sect Leader of Guiyuan Sect, and also Du Wannian’s grandfather, named Du Fuwei. Du Wannian’s father had died in his forties, so Du Fuwei was particularly fond of his grandson.
Originally, Du Fuwei was in a state of secluded cultivation, but he felt the strong energy fluctuations outside continually soaring, prompting him to immediately end his cultivation and see what was happening outside.
When Du Fuwei broke through the crowd and saw the body of his great-grandson, Du Baiping, and saw his grandson, Du Wannian, trembling and staring in horror at Ye Chenfeng in front of him, he didn’t need to think twice to guess that the young man was definitely the culprit.
Just as Du Fuwei was about to harness his True Energy Force, Sun Boyi stepped forward and said coldly, "Du Fuwei, haven’t we not seen each other in five or six years? I didn’t expect you old coot to still be alive?"
Turning his gaze to Sun Boyi, Du Fuwei responded, "If you old bastard haven’t died yet, how could I have taken a step ahead of you? Don’t tell me today’s events are related to your Zhen Tian Sect? Surely a second-rate power like yours doesn’t have the audacity, right?"
Only after seeing his grandfather did Du Wannian finally come back to his senses, the terror in his eyes slowly fading away. He was well aware of his grandfather’s strength, and now that the old man had come out of seclusion, there was no need to be afraid of Ye Chenfeng any longer. He admitted that Ye Chenfeng’s strength was indeed extraordinary, but he couldn’t believe that such a young man’s strength could surpass that of his grandfather, could it?
Flustered, Du Wannian hurried to Du Fuwei’s side and said, "Grandfather, this matter does involve Zhen Tian Sect, and this is what happened..."
He briefly explained the whole situation to Du Fuwei.
This caused Du Fuwei’s cloudy eyes to flash with sharpness in an instant, his tone becoming significantly more ominous as he spoke, "Sun Boyi, your Zhen Tian Sect has some nerve, actually daring to come and cause trouble in our Guiyuan Sect? What’s unforgivable is that you even killed my great-grandson? I want your Zhen Tian Sect to pay in blood for this blood debt."
After hearing the entire account, Du Fuwei didn’t hesitate to rouse his True Energy Force, unleashing a powerful aura that overwhelmed the surrounding area, making many of the Heaven Rank masters feel unbearably oppressed in their chests.
Ye Chenfeng took two steps back, his eyes growing solemn. He could sense that Du Fuwei’s strength was greater than his great-grandfather Sun Boyi’s, implying that Du Fuwei’s current strength was at the Innate Middle Stage. This forced Ye Chenfeng to be on alert—after all, with his current level ten Middle Stage Soul Force, he was basically on the same level as an Innate Middle Stage master.
When Du Fuwei released the aura within his body, other people from different sects stepped back again, finding the oppressive sensation of his aura extremely uncomfortable, with some of the less powerful even starting to go pale.
"Who would have thought that Du Fuwei of the Guiyuan Sect could reach such a level of strength? He must be at the Innate Middle Stage, right?"
"Innate Middle Stage! It seems that the Guiyuan Sect will eventually step into the territory of the top forces. Today’s drama is getting more and more intense. It started with the appearance of a half-step Innate master, and now there’s even a master of the Innate Middle Stage."
...
Standing not far from Du Fuwei, Sun Boyi, upon hearing the frequent murmurs around him, immediately rallied his aura, releasing a force slightly weaker than Du Fuwei’s from within and shouted, "You old bastard, don’t be so arrogant. Don’t think you’re the only one who has broken through to the Innate Realm."
Du Fuwei barely registered a change in his expression upon feeling the True Energy Force bursting forth from Sun Boyi’s body. He sneered, "I didn’t expect you to have broken through to the Innate Realm as well, but it’s a pity you only have the strength of the Initial Stage. I, on the other hand, possess the power of the Middle Stage. I am confident I can send you to your grave within five moves."
Beside them, Ye Chenfeng knew Du Fuwei wasn’t lying. He said to Sun Boyi, "Grand Elder, leave this matter to me. You just protect the others."
If there were only one expert at the Middle Stage of the Innate Realm like Du Fuwei here, it wouldn’t pose much danger to Ye Chenfeng and the rest today. If push came to shove, Ye Chenfeng could hold off Du Fuwei allowing Sun Boyi and others to leave first. After all, Sun Boyi’s strength had reached the Initial Stage of the Innate Realm. Aside from Ye Chenfeng and Du Fuwei, Sun Boyi’s mastery was the strongest present thus he should be able to ensure the others’ safety while fleeing the scene.
"Chenfeng, we came here today to support you," Sun Boyi said with undiminished aura. "And I, your Grand Elder, haven’t made a single move yet!"
Ye Chenfeng replied earnestly, "Grand Elder, all you need to do is ensure everyone’s safety. If even you’re injured, it could be really troublesome for us to get out of here later."
After hearing Ye Chenfeng’s words, Sun Boyi guessed what was on Chenfeng’s mind. Now that an expert at the Middle Stage of the Innate Realm had emerged, the current situation was highly unfavorable for them.
Sun Boyi sighed, feeling as though he was rather useless as a Grand Elder. He took a few steps back, instructing Sun Hengfei and the others, "Stand behind me."
Seeing that Sun Boyi didn’t intend to take action, Du Fuwei shifted his gaze to Ye Chenfeng. Although he hadn’t sensed any imposing aura from Chenfeng, the latter’s calm composure under his Middle Stage Innate pressure was a sign of a true master. Moreover, Du Fuwei had learned from his grandson, Du Wannian, about Chenfeng’s actions earlier, estimating that Chenfeng’s power level might be around the Initial Stage of Innate Realm. He found it hard to believe that such a young man could match his own achievements of the Middle Stage, which took him almost a lifetime to attain. That the youth’s power was equivalent to the Initial Stage of Innate Realm was already shocking enough to Du Fuwei.
Du Fuwei deduced that their tactic was likely one of delay—Chenfeng stalling him while Sun Boyi protected the others until they found an opportunity to leave.
"Who would have thought that a talent with such ability would emerge from the Zhen Tian Sect?" Du Fuwei mused aloud. "From what I know, even the geniuses from secretive top-tier factions are only so-so. Sadly, you’ll soon fall at my hands, genius." His Middle Stage Innate aura intensified, and his piercing gaze locked onto Ye Chenfeng.
The Qingyun Sect’s remaining four Elders, who initially had their hearts in their throats upon witnessing Ye Chenfeng’s slaughter, now breathed a sigh of relief at the appearance of a Middle Stage expert. After all, they were the ones who had exposed Chenfeng’s identity.
Those from the surrounding sects still held little hope for Chenfeng. Despite his demonstration of formidable power, most of them shared Du Fuwei’s assessment, believing Chenfeng’s strength to be about Initial Stage of Innate. If Ye Chenfeng’s power surpassed that, it would be truly unsettling for everyone present.
One must remember that Du Fuwei had cultivated for a lifetime to reach his current rank, whereas Ye Chenfeng was only how many years old?
If Ye Chenfeng’s strength matched that of a Middle Stage Innate expert, then he would undoubtedly be a genius among geniuses, and, perhaps, even the favoured prodigies of top-tier factions couldn’t hold a candle to him.
However, reality was bound to deliver another shock to the people of these other sects—one that would leave them wanting to bang their heads in disbelief.
Ye Chenfeng didn’t max out his Soul Force earlier because it was overkill for the small fries. Now facing an equal opponent, he naturally intended to unleash his full potential.
An aura no weaker than Du Fuwei’s surged out of Ye Chenfeng like a deluge.
This left the faces of those around them even paler. Two almost equally formidable auras were present, causing even Heaven Rank experts to feel their blood boil, almost unable to suppress the urge to vomit blood from the intensity.
The situation was awe-inspiring, with both opponents proving to be equally matched. (To be continued. If you like this work, you are welcome to vote for it on QiDian (qidian.com). Your support is my greatest motivation. Mobile users, please visit m.qidian.com to continue reading.)
