Neraxis headed out of the arena alongside Magnus, who was leading the entire class.

"We have a hotel booked for us not too far away. It’s very secure, so you won’t have to worry about the paparazzi sneaking in to take pictures," Magnus stated with a chuckle.

The moment he finished speaking, Neraxis’s dimensional ring vibrated, prompting him to take out his phone.

However, as he checked the messages, he noticed it wasn’t his main phone which had received a message.

Instead, it was the phone he used to contact the Obscura.

So he took it out and checked the message.

<Amara: You’re on everyone’s radar.>

Tilting his head, Neraxis replied. <Neraxis: Who’s everyone?>

<Amara: Eternal Night, the crime families, the government, and of course, the few other villain organizations all around the world.>

Upon reading that, he halted.

Eternal Night is watching me? He furrowed his brows.

<Neraxis: How accurate is this information?>

After a few seconds, he received a reply. <Amara: Marcus heard it from the Eternal Night higher-ups. They’ve been talking about you. Sophia gathered intel from the other parties involved as well. Just know, you’re most likely going to be approached by one of their envoys soon enough.>

If this wasn’t a shitty situation, Neraxis didn’t know what was.

Therefore, he put the phone away inside Evangeline’s storage.

"We’re here," Magnus announced, startling Neraxis out of his thoughts.

And as he did, a massive skyscraper came into view, with a large reception area and multiple elevators built into the walls.

Magnus went over to the receptionist and got them all checked in before finally splitting them into groups of four and going up the elevator.

It seemed like they were heading for the 50th floor, which just so happened to be the highest.

The moment they arrived, they found themselves in a long hallway filled with rooms.

Magnus soon walked in front of them before pulling out some pieces of paper from his pockets.

"We’ll be drawing straws on who will get the rooms. All is fair," Magnus stated sternly and turned toward Neraxis. "You first, golden boy."

"..." Neraxis didn’t even humor Magnus as he approached and used his {Cosmic Sight}.

He was vaguely able to see the room numbers, therefore, he ’accidentally’ picked room number 1.

"Oh... Well, the best room is gone already," Magnus commented and turned toward Kael. "Next."

After a few minutes of selecting rooms, they were finally done and free to go wherever they wanted.

Neraxis headed into his room, followed by the girls who had helped with the plan.

The students looked on jealously, but no one said a word as Neraxis finally stepped inside, greeted by a massive bed in the center, surrounded by multiple tables and chairs.

Damn... Should I just buy a mansion with my allowance? Neraxis whistled in amazement as he went over and sat on the bed.

As for the girls, they all sat on their own chairs, even sofas, until finally, they were all comfortable enough to talk.

"So? What’s the plan now that you completely scrapped it?" Celina asked, twirling her hair. "Assassination could still work, but not against that girl Alice. She’s a bit too strong for my liking."

"I can rig her head with explosives..." Aella muttered.

"Won’t work. She’s immortal," Neraxis replied before saying, "The plan is still to kill them, with the addition of Asher as well. It just might not be during this tournament."

Eris scoffed. "If only someone could tell us about them so we can better prepare... oh, wait!" She turned to Neraxis. "There is someone, isn’t there, Neraxis?"

Neraxis let out a sigh. "Alice is a vindictive bitch. Lar is arrogant, smart and proud. Asher is just arrogant."

"We already knew that..." Aurelia remarked plainly. "What are their weaknesses?"

Noting Aurelia’s initiative, Neraxis decided to elaborate.

"Alice... doesn’t have weaknesses, only a big ego. Lar is a good swordsman, but he’s clueless in the fundamentals. Asher is supposed to be an assassin, but he doesn’t even know how to wield daggers properly."

"So they’re all just a bunch of idiots," Celina said with a sigh. "It’s a lost cause, Neraxis. We need something else."

"I’m going to go scouting after I take a shower. As for you all, don’t make any moves," Neraxis stated.

Eris stood up, frustrated. "You want us to help, then you don’t want us to help. Make up your damn mind."

With that, she stormed out of his room, slamming the door behind her.

"I-I’m going to take a nap," Aurelia said with a forced chuckle as she too left the room.

Now only Celina and Aella were left.

But it didn’t take a genius to notice they had the same thoughts as the other girls.

"Don’t mind me," Neraxis said before standing up and approaching the bathroom.

Just as he was going to go inside, he flashed the two girls one last glance.

"I’ll take it from here. Go back to your rooms, please."

With that, he went to shower.

In the middle of it, however, Evangeline’s voice rang out.

[You’re cautious.]

Can you blame me? Neraxis shrugged. Alice managed to beat that Kyle guy instantly. Even I would’ve had trouble beating him. If I bring the girls into this any further, then they’re going to die.

The possibility of them dying was always on the table, but after seeing what Alice was capable of, he no longer wanted to take that risk.

What would he do if any one of them died?

He didn’t want that to happen. He wouldn’t even let that situation be possible in the first place.

Therefore, he was going to push them away—at least for now.

A few minutes passed, and he finally finished his shower, yet as Neraxis glanced toward the door, he still felt the same two presences sitting where they had been sitting before he entered.

They aren’t leaving. He thought with a conflicted look and instead turned toward the window in the massive bathroom.

Neraxis used {Aura of the Abyss} to dry himself off and soon approached the window, opening it slightly and glancing down at the ground below.

He was above the clouds, and there just so happened to be an innocent bird flying not too far away.

Taking one last glance at the bathroom door, Neraxis leaped out of the window, free-falling 50 floors downward.

There were multiple birds, but he chose to ignore them as they were a bit too high up.

Yet as he went past the clouds and the city entered his eyes, Neraxis raised his brow.

Where the fuck are the birds?

There was not a single one in sight.

[Pfft... that was a bit of a stupid gamble, don’t you think?] Evangeline said with a giggle.

Well, I can just target a random person and miss my sword strike, Neraxis replied and focused downward until finally locking on a person.

Yet just as he was about to use {Sword Dash}, Evangeline stopped him.

[Wait.]

With those words, she suddenly manifested in her sword form and flew beside him until eventually, she landed right beneath his feet and stopped him in midair.

What the... Neraxis’s eyes widened.

He was flying... sort of.

But it was very difficult to remain standing; therefore, he soon fell, just to be caught once again.

[Focus, Neraxis...] Evangeline said, holding back a laugh.

And he did just that, until eventually, he arrived on some rooftop, his legs still shaking from what had just happened.

Nonetheless, he made it downward, and now, he could begin his scouting.

The moment those thoughts settled, he heard clapping behind him.

Turning around, he was greeted with a faceless man who only had a mouth.

"Bravo, Neraxis Valen. I knew you had potential," the man stated, a smile curling up on his face. "I’m Valthor, one of the leaders of Eternal Night, and I wish to have a little chat."
