The SSS Legendary Dragon Chose Me On Rebirth-Chapter 284: Sly bastard I
Indeed.
Why did he assume that the boss only concealed second stage monsters? If it had the means to hide their aura from him earlier, then it must surely have had the means to hide those of the third stages.
Before he even knew what was happening, the third stage monsters had started rushing him. And Vacuse did the only thing he could do....
.....he turned around and fled into the forest, crushing all the second stage monsters that stood in his way.
There was no reason to stay behind and try to take on a group of third stage monsters when he could separate them and take them one by one.
By running into the forest, he created an opportunity to separate them. And he did not hold back, he pumped power into his legs and his speed increased, throwing him forward with blurring leaps.
And just as anticipated, the monsters began to catch up. The first one to catch up was a fox like monster with its fur on fire. It was using flames to create small explosions to throw itself forward just to match his speed.
Vacuse ran between the trees, making it difficult for the monster chasing him to have a straight path toward him. The fox monster was forced to slow down now and then to avoid crashing into trees.
That also meant it had to take its eyes off its target....and just when it suddenly looked up again, its target had vanished. The fox monster came to a sudden halt, its eyes widened as it looked around, sniffing the air.
It did a bit of hopping forward to sniff the ground, the flames around it flaring as it confirmed that its target was indeed there just a moment ago. Did its target just suddenly vanish?
But just as it was still sniffing, a small dark hole suddenly appeared above it and from within, an umbrella came down like the slashing from a sword.
The fox monster had no chance at all, the attack took it entirely by surprise, straight at the head. Its skull was pierced through and it slumped the next second, dead.
The ring on the finger that held the umbrella glowed and the body was sucked in the next moment, leaving only a trail of red blood on the ground. The dark hole also disappeared. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Up to five more stage three monsters also reached the place and they sniffed around frantically, their fur bristling and their growls reverberating through the forest.
They could sense and did see the blood on the ground, but what of the body? Where is the dead monster? Where is the killer? They did not understand and that made them fall into a bigger frenzy.
But just as they were doing all of this, a small dark hole appeared, not bigger than a coin and very low to the ground. A finger pointed out of the hole, downward, and the next second, the ground was filled with a pool of darkness.
The monsters flinched, their bodies jerking away in a bid to make an escape, but they underestimated the scope of the trap.
Threads burst out of the dark pool, wrapping around their bodies, their limbs and mouths. They struggled to break free, and they would, with sufficient time. But Vacuse was not going to give them that time.
The coin sized hole yawned open like the maw of a primordial beast and a grinning man shot out from within, holding a dark umbrella as one might hold a sword.
The monsters....did not last a minute.
Vacuse looked at the scattered body parts with satisfaction. "I am glad to be entering my void space from Rith. This is what I should be using since. It makes for a wonderful trapping method..."
Of course he was still getting chased. Those he killed were the monsters that were faster, more forward than the others. The main horde was soon arriving.
He shifted to the side to change his location a little, and then he was swallowed by the dark void portal once again.
The boss was surrounded by stage three monsters of all kinds and they poured into the forest where Vacuse had made his kill, trampling trees and felling some.
The boss glared down at the blood and looked around suspiciously but it could not find where the enemy was. It grunted and the animals it was controlling flinched while some of them scattered to start searching the surroundings.
Vacuse repeated the same strategy he used earlier. A dark pool congealed below them, spreading rapidly beneath the boss and some of the other monsters.
Before they could react, threads burst from the ground, but this time, it did not wrap around the monsters. The threads formed a shield at the edge of the black pool, hardening to block anything from entering or going out.
Vacuse silently appeared in the middle of it, a slow smile on his face. "We meet again, boss."
The boss monster turned to him, its eyes flaring. The dark gem in its head shone as if light was trapped inside its shiny surface. But it did not hurry to rush him.
The boss studied him and actually took several steps back.
The greatest strength of the mind stalk apes is not their physical strength but their minds.
The monsters that were trapped with it turned to Vacuse and growls filled the air.
There were three of them, of different kinds.
One of the monsters was rodent like, easily nine feet tall with protruding fangs and small beady eyes. Another was just like the mind stalk apes but without the gems.
And the last was a hound, but most of its body was made of bones and darkness.
Vacuse understood why the boss kept them close then. They were the strongest in stage three that he had met and even with his void domain lowering their strength and boosting his own, he was still at a clear disadvantage.
Not only that, the way they watched him with cold intelligence.
He grimaced. "Four third stage monsters. Powerful ones at that. Maybe I should not have put all of you in here at the same time? And the space, it is not big.."
