The Spoilt Beauty And Her Beasts-Chapter 677: If people keep seeing your stone face all day, they will grow old faster from stress
Her eyes widened, and she stared at him with shock. It has been a long time since anyone last mentioned her not being from this world, to the point that she herself had already forgotten her past life.
"I–i..." Isabella swallowed as she looked down at her hand. In the past, her first instinct would have been to lie. But now Kian wasn’t just a stranger to her anymore. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
So lying to him would be really unfair. Kian watched her expression for a moment, and then he smiled because he hated seeing her like this.
So he immediately changed his tactic, "You descended from the heavens did you not"
"Huh?" Isabella’s head shot up with suprise as she stared at him like he was crazy, she really could nit believe just when she thought this cold Lion king had finally found out her secret, what he was thinking all along was that she had transmigrated.
"That’s not even..." Isabella stared then paused when she saw his mischievous smile.
Oh this lion.
"Are you mocking me right now?" She pouted then crossed her hands and turned away.
Kian immediately let out a small low chuckle when he saw how cute she looked being flustered.
Then he scooted closer to her and wrapped his hands around her. "How could i ever mock my future queen" He asked like he was the one who had been wronged.
Isabella’s face heated up instantly. "Y-you" She smiled and turned her face to meet his "Humph, i feel like Zyran has possessed you"
Isabella teased, causing Kian to laugh immediately and she looked at him with amusement in her eyes.
"You should laugh more often, it sounds good" She used her nose to rub his while still smiling and he closed his eyes so that he could feel more of her in that moment.
"Then i will laugh more if it makes you feel good"
Hearing that, Isabella could not help smiling more brightly. In truth, she was already starting to enjoy this softer side of Kian more and more, because even though he was still the same cold lion king, moments like this made him feel warmer and closer to her.
It also made her heart feel sweet in a way she did not want to admit too loudly, because if she admitted it too proudly, this man would probably use it against her later.
So she looked at him with that same amused smile and then suddenly said, "Then you should laugh every day. It will make the whole village healthier."
Kian looked at her quietly for a moment as if he was trying to understand where exactly she was taking the conversation.
Then he asked in a calm voice, "The whole village?"
"Yes," Isabella replied very seriously. "If people keep seeing your stone face all day, they will grow old faster from stress."
For one second, Kian stared at her.
Then he actually laughed again.
This time, the sound was clearer than before, and because it came so naturally, Isabella’s eyes immediately brightened. To be honest, hearing him laugh like that really did sound good. It made his cold face seem less distant, and it gave people the strange feeling that this man, who usually looked like he was born to terrify everyone around him, was still capable of warmth.
Isabella immediately looked pleased with herself.
"See?" she said proudly. "I was right."
Kian’s eyes stayed on her face as the smile in them softened. "You are always pleased with yourself."
"As i should be," Isabella replied without shame. "If i do not appreciate myself, who will?"
Kian’s gaze turned gentler at once. "I will."
That answer came so simply that Isabella’s heart skipped again.
For a moment, she just stared at him. Then she huffed lightly and looked away, even though the smile at the corner of her lips had already betrayed her.
"You really have changed," she muttered.
Kian reached out and touched her face, his fingers brushing softly against her cheek as if he could not resist doing it. "Then perhaps it is your fault."
Isabella turned back at once and looked at him with disbelief. "My fault?"
Kian nodded like he was completely reasonable. "You came here and disturbed my peace."
Hearing that, Isabella’s eyes widened. "Excuse me? Disturbed your peace? Kian, your peace was terrible. You were walking around all day with that cold face as if smiling would kill you."
Kian looked at her calmly. "And yet you still stayed."
That sentence made Isabella pause for a second.
Then she lifted her chin and said proudly, "Because i am brave."
This time Kian’s eyes actually warmed with amusement, and the way he looked at her made it very obvious that he found her ridiculous in a way that pleased him very much.
Seeing that look on his face, Isabella immediately became suspicious. "Why are you looking at me like that?"
"Because you are funny," Kian replied.
Isabella gasped softly and put a hand on her chest as if she had just been deeply wounded. "You are calling your future queen funny?"
Kian’s mouth curved faintly. "Very funny."
That was enough to make Isabella lean forward and poke his chest. "You are getting too bold."
Kian caught her hand immediately, and instead of letting it go, he lifted it and pressed a light kiss against her fingers. The action was so sudden and so natural that Isabella froze on the spot.
Then her face heated up again.
This man really had no shame today.
Before she could gather herself enough to speak, he was already standing.
Then he reached down and held her hand, helping her up with the kind of care that felt like he could not bear to part from her.
Beastmen were naturally protective like this.
They liked touching, guiding, holding, and staying close, as if making sure with their own bodies that the woman they cared about was truly there and truly fine.
So the moment Isabella rose, Kian’s hand naturally moved to her waist, steady and warm, as though he did not want even one careless step from her.
