Chapter 671: Chapter 671: I’m only going to Kian’s room, not crossing a mountain.

Shelia waved a hand without looking up. "Mm."

Then she shoved more food into her mouth at once.

Isabella looked at her in disbelief, then laughed again.

"Calm down," she said. "The food is not running away."

Shelia gave a vague sound that might have meant agreement, might have meant leave me alone, and might have meant both at once. Either way, she did not stop eating.

That made Isabella feel even more amused.

Honestly, this girl was always one step away from embarrassing herself over food, and somehow that made her kind of adorable.

Just as Isabella reached for one of the bowls meant to be taken over, Cyrus stood up a little from where he sat and reached out.

"Let me go for you," he said gently. "The floor may be slippery, and you only just finished eating. I can take it."

His voice was as soft as ever, but Isabella could hear the familiar concern beneath it. Cyrus always worried about her in that quiet way of his, as though every small discomfort she might face was something he personally wanted to stand in front of and block.

Isabella looked at him and smiled.

"You always help me with everything," she said. "I can do this myself."

Cyrus hesitated.

His fingers, which had already reached for the bowl, stopped halfway.

It was very clear that he wanted to insist. The thought was almost visible on his face. He wanted to say that he did not mind.

He wanted to say that walking over there was a simple thing and that she should stay warm. He wanted to say about ten different careful, sweet things at once.

Unfortunately for him, Isabella saw all of it immediately.

She gave him a look and said, "No."

Cyrus paused. "I did not say anything yet."

"You were about to," Isabella replied. "I saw it in your eyes."

Zyran, who had been quietly enjoying this, smirked into his bowl. "That is true. His face was halfway through a speech."

Cyrus shot him a look, but it had no strength in it because it was difficult to be properly annoyed while being exposed so accurately. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

Isabella adjusted the fur around her shoulders and continued, "I want to take a little walk, and I also want to see him from there. I’ll be fine, trust me."

Cyrus still looked reluctant.

The reluctance came from several places at once. Part of it was natural worry, because she was pregnant and winter mornings could be unkind.

Another part of it came from habit, because he had grown so used to helping her that standing still while she carried something herself almost felt wrong.

And a quieter, softer part of it came from the simple fact that he liked taking care of her. It made him feel useful, close, and included in her day in a way he treasured deeply.

Isabella knew all of that.

That was why she softened her tone just a little.

"I’m only going to Kian’s room, not crossing a mountain."

Cyrus let out the faintest sigh, then finally lowered his hand. "Alright."

But the way he said it clearly meant, I am agreeing because you asked, not because I like this plan.

Isabella smiled in satisfaction and took the bowl.

At once, a small shape stirred near the side of the room.

Glimora had been there all along.

The little beast had already eaten. In fact, she had eaten very well, because Isabella had fed her earlier and even let her lick a bit of broth from one of the wooden spoons, which Glimora had accepted with the shameless greed of a creature who knew perfectly well that she was adored.

Now, however, the moment Isabella stood with food in hand, Glimora’s ears lifted.

Her nose twitched.

Then she rose too.

Isabella looked down and saw the beast padding after her with very serious purpose.

That sight made her almost laugh before she had even reached the door.

"You heartless little thing," Isabella murmured as she walked. "You only follow me because you think I might stop somewhere for fruit."

Glimora blinked up at her, entirely unashamed.

If anything, she looked offended that Isabella had dared to state something so obvious out loud.

Behind her, Zyran called lazily, "She has priorities. I respect that."

Osiris folded his arms. "It is your fault. You spoiled her."

Isabella glanced back over her shoulder. "And I’ll do it again."

Glimora trotted proudly beside her as if this victory belonged personally to her.

To be honest, Isabella found it incredibly cute. The little beast really was shameless. She came when she wanted warmth, affection, or food, and sometimes all three at once.

Even now, while pretending to accompany Isabella loyally, she was clearly hoping some useful accident involving snacks might happen on the way.

That thought made Isabella smile to herself as she walked through the corridor.

The stone beneath her feet was cold, but the thick fur around her body kept most of the chill away, and the bowl in her hands sent up warm steam that touched her face with every few steps. The morning felt peaceful enough that if she had not known better, she might have believed the day intended to behave.

Unfortunately, her life had long since taught her better than that.

By the time she reached Kian’s room, she was already thinking about the dumplings again and wondering whether he would finally stop working long enough to eat if she glared at him hard enough.

She did not knock.

She never knocked when it came to Kian or any of the other men. In her opinion, that level of ceremony was unnecessary, and if any of them happened to be doing something stupid, that was their own business.

So she pushed the door open and said as she entered, "I hope you’re not naked."

The words had barely left her mouth when the sight in front of her almost made the bowl slip from her hands.

For one brief, sharp second, Isabella genuinely thought her eyes had betrayed her.

Because there, in Kian’s room, was the healer.

The healer.

On his lap.

The bowl in Isabella’s hands tilted dangerously.

Her entire body froze.

Even the warm steam rising from the soup seemed to pause in the air.
