The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 64: She Likes Autumn
The ginkgo leaves in the backyard have turned yellow, and people are starting to wear thin coats. Holly Sawyer steps on the fallen leaves in the small courtyard, the crisp sound of "rustle" is something Holly really enjoys.
She likes autumn because she feels it is the gentlest season.
Leo Grant, Noah Raines, and Nathaniel sit in the pavilion in the courtyard, sipping wine and chatting leisurely. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
"The little girl is quite innocent."
Nathaniel drinks a glass of wine, looks at Holly basking in the sunlight, and slowly says something.
The weak sunlight falls on Holly as she hops on the stone path covered with ginkgo leaves like a playful child, exuding warmth.
"This is called a childlike heart."
Noah comments.
Well, having a childlike heart is good, but being too naive can backfire.
Leo watches Holly, his gaze follows her movements, seemingly having eyes only for Holly.
"Tsk, he’s really fallen in."
Noah nudges Nathaniel’s arm, clicking his tongue and shaking his head slowly.
Sigh, some people, whatever they’ve got themselves into, they just won’t admit it.
"Yes, even a hero finds it hard to resist a beauty, never thought Leo would fancy this type."
Nathaniel props his hand to look at Leo, nodding slightly more and more.
Leo, who usually remains indifferent, even towards Rosalie Jennings who he had been with for over a year, unexpectedly likes someone like Holly Sawyer.
"Leo."
Noah calls out.
Leo looks questioningly at Noah.
"Looks good?"
Noah teases, with amusement in his eyes.
"What’s what?"
Leo frowns slightly, a bit displeased at being interrupted and not in the best mood.
"Nothing much."
Noah waves it off.
"Leo, by the way, that small company you helped last time is doing quite well now."
Noah plays with his phone, as if recalling something, he says.
To be honest, he used to think Leo was like King Zhou, who indulged his concubines without using his brain.
This was just a minor issue; one small thing leads to another, turning minor issues into major ones, then making a total "fool of a king."
Didn’t expect Leo to have such sharp insight, he could see the bright future of this small company.
"Oh."
Leo is somewhat surprised, but doesn’t show it.
Initially, he just thought of spending some money to make the little girl happy, not expecting the girl to be thinking of him.
If Holly merely pitied that company and wanted him to aid it, Leo wouldn’t believe it.
The little girl harbors many secrets.
The three continue discussing ordinary topics; the breeze is gentle, and the sunshine is just right, it’s a leisurely atmosphere.
During their school days, the three of them often gathered together, but after starting their careers, even though they were in the same city, they had less time to meet.
Nathaniel is the busiest, Leo is not idle either, don’t be fooled by Noah’s carefree demeanor, he’s got quite a few things to handle too.
"Nathaniel, what’s your plan after returning to Arkenfall?"
Leo asks.
Both Noah and Nathaniel came to Bexley because of Leo, giving up better cities for brotherhood.
"What I’m doing now is what I’ll keep doing."
Nathaniel shrugs, he enjoys his job, despite the busyness.
Born into well-off families, giving up work to take over family businesses was also an option, but it wasn’t his preference.
Leo looks at Nathaniel: "I’m not asking about work."
"No thoughts about it."
Nathaniel lowers his eyes; always sunny, a slight crack appears on his face at this moment.
"Let me know if you need anything."
Leo reaches out, patting Nathaniel’s shoulder, his voice calm and indifferent.
Nathaniel: "Mm."
Nathaniel has a girl-next-door childhood friend, they grew up together, a textbook case of childhood sweethearts, yet neither confessed their feelings.
Later she got engaged, and Nathaniel got dead drunk over it, eventually expressing his feelings, but the girl firmly rejected him on the spot, righteously stating she was already engaged.
Love requires timely actions. Leo once talked to the girl; she actually liked Nathaniel but was compelled by family pressure to comply.
Nathaniel is a part of the Shaw family, but his disinterest in the family business is well-known, while what the girl’s family wanted was an alliance, the power that comes with it, hence Nathaniel was excluded.
"Brother, I’m hungry."
Holly has been amusing herself for quite some time; she runs over to Leo, rubbing her belly, her lips pursed in grievance.
She’s pretty hungry.
"What do you want to eat?"
Leo, with a smile on his lips, feels inexplicably delighted by the girl’s appearance.
The little foodie got hungry so quickly.
"Do I get to choose?"
Holly blinks, her gaze sweeping over Noah and Nathaniel, her expression innocent.
With outsiders present, she seems slightly conscious of it.
"Of course, us two big men don’t mind this kind of thing."
Noah responds, watching Leo with interest, his eyes filled with twinkling amusement.
"Of course, no restrictions."
Nathaniel also nods, showing no problem with it.
If they dared to utter a "no," they might be silenced by Leo’s gaze.
"Then brother, I want hot pot."
Holly’s eyes light up instantly, looking at Leo with a hint of seeking approval.
"Sure."
Leo has no reason to disagree, it’s inevitable to agree to Holly’s requests.
Whatever the little girl wants to eat, he must agree; otherwise, what if the little girl gets unhappy?
Noah and Nathaniel exchange glances, then slowly shift their gaze back to Holly and Leo.
Tsk tsk tsk.
"They..."
Holly looks at Noah and Nathaniel, blinking lightly, speaking somewhat hesitantly.
"We don’t mind at all."
"Yes, haven’t had hot pot in a long time, been craving it."
Noah and Nathaniel naturally have no objections, of course, they’re not daring to have any either.
"Brother Noah, Brother Nathaniel, have some candy."
Holly takes out two lollipops from her pocket and hands them to Nathaniel and Noah, her voice soft and gentle.
Nathaniel: "???"
Noah: "???"
Why on earth should they have lollipops?
Leo’s gaze is somewhat... scary.
As if he’s about to devour them, it’s quite chilling.
"Don’t you want it?"
Holly tilts her head, looking at Noah and Nathaniel, blinking her eyes, her face full of innocence.
"Of course, we want it."
Noah and Nathaniel wouldn’t dare say no, of course, they wouldn’t dare say it.
