The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 225: Lending a Little Help
Noah Raines kept fretting over his face, while Leo Grant and the other two were eating their breakfast, paying him no attention.
"Here, eat more."
Leo Grant placed a small cake in front of Holly Sawyer and spoke slowly.
"Thank you, big brother."
Holly Sawyer smiled sweetly, and even her voice was sweet.
Nathaniel: "..."
He didn’t feel the frustration of being a third wheel, but he did sense the duality of people.
Thinking about Holly Sawyer from last night and seeing her now, truly, they were two different people, barefacedly two.
Women, perhaps they are indeed terrifying creatures.
Nathaniel thought as much.
The four of them quickly finished eating and left the restaurant. Noah Raines lay on the sofa, constantly looking in the mirror, appearing utterly forlorn.
Nathaniel had already left due to work reasons.
After arriving in Arkenfall, he continued doing the same work as before, a recommendation from the leaders back in Bexley, who valued Nathaniel highly.
"Ahhh, how can I go out with this face?"
Noah Raines was on the verge of tears, wailing aloud.
The saying goes that you don’t hit someone in the face. To him, the face was a facade, extremely important, and with a swollen face, he felt he couldn’t meet anyone.
"Here, this is great for reducing swelling."
Holly Sawyer pulled out an ointment from her pocket and tossed it in front of Noah Raines, speaking slowly.
She was the one who hit him, so she felt responsible, at least to help reduce the swelling for Noah Raines.
"Thank you, sis-in-law, thank you, sis-in-law, you’re so kind."
Noah Raines gratefully took the ointment, instantly moved to tears, and then gave Leo Grant a chilly glance.
He decided that from now on he would cling tightly to Holly Sawyer because Holly certainly had a big heart.
Neither Leo Grant nor Nathaniel, his brothers, showed any conscience or concern for him, while Holly at least gave him a bit of attention.
Unfortunately, Noah Raines didn’t know that it was Holly herself who punched him, yet he was still so grateful to her.
Leo Grant cast a faint glance at Noah Raines, with only two words in his eyes: fool.
He didn’t even know who hit him and still felt grateful, indeed a real fool.
"No need to thank me, it’s what I should do."
Holly Sawyer touched her nose, feeling a bit guilty.
She hit someone, and now the person was grateful to her, which made her feel a bit embarrassed.
"By the way, playing the pitiful card could work now."
Holly Sawyer changed the channel with the remote, then slowly looked up at Noah Raines.
That was all she could do; the rest was up to them; she couldn’t interfere.
Playing pitiful is the most useful?
Noah Raines’ eyes lit up instantly. He slapped his thigh and hurriedly ran out.
Right, at a time like this, showing some pity in front of Nancy Miller might actually work, how had he not thought of it?
If Nancy Miller showed concern for him, it would mean there was hope; if she remained indifferent, it would mean she was truly heartless, and he could completely give up on the idea.
"So, did you plan this last night?"
Leo Grant pulled Holly Sawyer into his embrace, laughing lightly as he spoke.
That punch last night, and today’s words, it seemed Holly had thought it all through beforehand?
"Hmm, kind of."
Holly Sawyer lazily yawned, speaking slowly.
After talking with Nancy Miller on the phone, she had some ideas. Even though she had said she wouldn’t help, she couldn’t resist offering a small favor.
"My dear girl is truly kind-hearted."
Leo Grant lowered his head, kissing Holly Sawyer’s forehead with a fond smile on his lips.
His dear girl had a kind heart.
"Of course, who else’s girl would I be?"
Holly Sawyer playfully winked, her voice filled with a mischievous tone.
Hmm, she could be kind, but she could also be not so kind, it all depended on who the person was.
Leo Grant’s lips curved slightly: "Mine."
Of course, she was his girl.
"Do you think there’s hope?"
Leo Grant gently rubbed Holly Sawyer’s head, slowly asking.
He didn’t know Nancy Miller and hadn’t paid attention to the thing with Noah Raines and Nancy Miller, so he wasn’t really sure.
"There probably is, I think."
Holly Sawyer softly shook her head, not daring to speak too certainly.
Nancy Miller had different feelings for Noah Raines, but whether she’d be with him ultimately depended on Nancy Miller herself.
That hurdle, it depended on whether Nancy Miller could overcome it.
"Do you have anything you want to eat today? I’ll have to head to work soon."
Leo Grant glanced at the time, asking slowly.
Though he wanted to stay with Holly Sawyer, he needed to go to work.
"No, just come home right after work and take me out for dinner."
Holly Sawyer blinked lightly, speaking slowly.
Hmm, going out to eat? Impossible.
"Okay." 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
Leo Grant nodded and then went off to work.
As soon as Leo Grant left, Holly Sawyer quickly opened her phone, pulled up Meituan, planning to buy groceries for delivery.
She wanted to prepare a sumptuous candlelit dinner at home for Leo Grant. The weather was so cold, she didn’t want to go out to eat.
There was central heating at home, water could be warm, and cooking wasn’t too much trouble.
Having selected her groceries, Holly Sawyer lounged back on the sofa watching TV, cozily wrapped around a cushion.
After winter, it would be Holly Sawyer’s season to go out again. Her presence would appear once more in those late-night food stalls.
Her phone rang; she thought it was a delivery, but to her surprise, it was Nancy Miller.
"Sister, Noah Raines came to see me."
Nancy Miller’s urgent voice came through, a little flustered.
Seeing Noah Raines instantly made her want to flee.
She felt scared, a fear she’d never known before.
When those she’d previously rejected came back to her, she’d always felt calm, never flustered.
"You like him."
Holly Sawyer said with certainty. Nancy Miller’s voice was laced with undeniable panic, indicating Nancy Miller didn’t purely see Noah Raines as just a friend or passerby.
If she didn’t like him, she could’ve handled it like she always did, not let it scare her.
Nancy Miller was struck dumb on the other end.
"Your own feelings should be handled by yourself, I can’t help you."
"Don’t let yourself regret it, what to do is up to you."
Holly Sawyer gave a simple response and then hung up.
She wouldn’t delve too deeply into other people’s feelings because emotions were personal, and no one else could take charge of them.
