Chapter 220: Chapter 220: An Unexpected Visit

When it comes to love, mutual infatuation at first sight is the most romantic; in marriage, affection that grows over time and lasts forever is the most touching.

Holly always thought that mutual attraction at first sight was romantic, but she didn’t deny that people could drift apart afterwards.

That’s why she didn’t like love at first sight; she preferred affection that grows over time.

Leo placed the freshly written couplets on the coffee table to dry and also laid the paintings there to dry, then went to the kitchen to prepare some fruit for Holly.

"Did I come at a bad time?"

Noah came in carrying a big box of beer and, upon seeing the harmonious scene, paused for a moment.

Holly was watching TV in the living room, while Leo was busy in the kitchen. Their life was warm and wonderful, very homely.

It looked like a typical old couple’s interaction.

"Nope."

It was Holly who opened the door. She paused when she saw Noah carrying a big box of beer, then shook her head.

Holly wasn’t an unreasonable person; she could see that Noah might have encountered something unhappy and wanted to talk to Leo.

"Leo’s drinking, you don’t mind, right?"

Noah suddenly remembered the beer in his hand and tried to hide it behind his back.

His only thought was to find Leo for a good drink without considering Holly’s presence, which was a bit impulsive.

"Not at all."

Holly shook her head; she didn’t mind at all.

Guys smoking and drinking is pretty normal, as long as it’s not too excessive, with moderation.

Smoking in moments of agitation is okay, but not habitually; one shouldn’t be addicted to smoking.

Drinking is inevitable in the workplace; knowing how to drink can be beneficial, though it should be moderated—don’t get perpetually wasted, but occasional moderate drinking is alright.

Holly doesn’t like those who are addicted to smoking or those who are addicted to drinking even more.

Alcohol addiction is scarier than smoking addiction because drunk people can do many unbelievable things.

"So, are you really not bothered?"

Noah asked again; he placed the box of beer on the ground and seriously looked into Holly’s eyes as he asked.

Girls like to say one thing and mean another, wanting to save face for their boyfriends in front of others. Who knows if Holly means it or has something else in mind.

"Nope, just don’t get too drunk."

Holly shook her head and replied, sitting on the sofa and casually changing channels with the remote.

Leo was still busy in the kitchen, the sound of a knife on a cutting board coming from within.

Three cutting boards were prepared in the kitchen—one for cooked food, one for raw food, and one for fruit.

"That’s good."

Noah cheerfully ran to the kitchen to find Leo; Holly glanced up and continued watching her TV.

After a while, the doorbell rang again, and Holly opened the door to see Nathaniel.

"Hello, Holly."

Nathaniel greeted Holly, holding a large bag from the supermarket, which seemed to contain groceries.

Holly nodded, "Hello."

"Has Noah arrived already?"

Nathaniel asked while changing shoes at the entrance.

Holly replied, "He has."

"You guys chat, I’m going back to watch TV."

Holly returned to the living room, continuing to watch her TV.

Nathaniel carried his groceries into the kitchen.

Leo and Noah were already chatting in the kitchen; Noah looked quite miserable, while Leo calmly continued slicing cantaloupe.

"Hey, can I call you bro? How can you be so unresponsive when I’m like this?"

Noah stood beside Leo, looking very aggrieved.

"Oh, seems like it’s not my concern."

Leo’s tone was calm, his movements unhurried.

His current thought was to slice fruit for Holly; other things could wait.

Brothers are like hands and feet, women are like clothes.

One can go with broken hands and feet, but would never go out without wearing clothes.

"Aren’t we brothers?"

Noah asked.

Leo: "We are."

"Then how can you be so cold?"

Noah blinked, looking hurt.

Too cold and heartless, it deeply hurt him; truly upsetting.

The old Leo wasn’t like this.

"Because my girlfriend is more important."

Leo answered.

Noah: "..."

Good grief, he’s just bullying me because I don’t have a girlfriend, because I can’t get a girlfriend.

"Leo, let’s accompany him; otherwise, he might cry immediately."

Nathaniel chuckled lightly, then placed the bag on the table.

The bag was filled with ingredients, hot pot ingredients, as they had agreed to have hot pot at Leo’s place.

"Didn’t say I wouldn’t keep him company."

Leo raised an eyebrow.

Brothers might speak harshly sometimes, but it’s impossible not to care when they have issues.

"Why isn’t Mrs. Hayes here?"

Nathaniel asked; he’s been here a few times but never saw Mrs. Hayes, even though she supposedly came to Arkenfall.

"She went home; she’ll be back after the New Year."

Leo replied; Mrs. Hayes went back for some matters, so he simply gave her a long holiday to return after the New Year.

Leo and Holly were getting along quite happily now; their world together felt rather nice.

Leo quite liked this feeling because it was truly beautiful.

"Alright."

Nathaniel didn’t say much; he was hoping Mrs. Hayes was around to help with the ingredients and prepare the hot pot base.

Alright, now they had to do it themselves.

"Geez, do we really have to do this ourselves? I thought I could just wait and eat."

Noah’s face fell instantly, looking troubled as he glanced at Leo.

Geez, thought I could just come over and eat; didn’t expect to have to do it myself—this is really difficult for him.

"Otherwise? You thought you could just wait to eat?"

Leo had finished slicing the fruit and was plating it; he glanced at Noah before slowly speaking.

That’s a joke, thinking you can freeload?

Is it possible?

No way!

"How do you cook the hot pot base?"

Nathaniel looked at Leo, asking.

He didn’t know how to do these things, never tried before.

"I don’t know."

Leo answered very calmly.

He had never cooked such things; Mrs. Hayes used to manage it, so he had no idea how to do it.

Noah: "..."

Nathaniel: "..."

Don’t know?

Then what will they eat?

"I’ll look for a tutorial."

Leo planned to take the sliced fruit out, speaking slowly.
