The Soft-Hearted Wife of Mr. Big Shot-Chapter 121: Wanting to Cook for Her
"Brother, let me do it."
Holly walked into the kitchen and skillfully cleared the things on the counter, making the previously messy counter much cleaner in an instant.
Leo watched Holly skillfully cleaning the counter and suddenly felt a bit uneasy.
"What do you want to eat?"
Holly tilted her head slightly to look at Leo, slowly asking.
She had always been good at cooking, learning to be self-reliant from an early age.
"Let’s order takeout, or I can take you out to eat."
After a moment of silence, Leo said, not wanting Holly to cook.
Girls should be pampered. The kitchen, with all its heavy grease and smoke, was not the place for Holly, Leo thought.
Observing Holly’s skillful actions, Leo realized she must have cooked a lot before. He suddenly felt quite useless, not even able to make a simple dish.
"Home-cooked meals are healthier. Brother, let Holly make you breakfast."
Holly tilted her head slightly as she looked at Leo, seriously speaking.
She had not cooked for Leo before and thought it was time to show off her cooking skills.
"I..."
"Brother, you won’t even agree to this small request of mine?"
Leo’s words of refusal had not yet left his mouth when Holly interrupted, looking at him with exceptionally sincere eyes.
Leo nodded, "Okay."
Refusing the little girl would make her unhappy, and he did not want her to be unhappy.
"What would you like to eat, brother?"
Holly’s face blossomed with a smile.
"Anything you cook, I like."
Leo’s gaze at Holly was serious.
What Holly cooked wasn’t important; the important thing was that it was Holly who made it.
"Alright, then brother, please step out, okay?"
Holly blinked as she spoke.
"I’ll clean up the kitchen."
Leo glanced down at the floor, noticing the shattered pieces of a broken bowl.
With so many shards, it wouldn’t be good if Holly accidentally got hurt.
With Leo cleaning and Holly cooking, the kitchen was a harmonious place.
Leo watched Holly earnestly as she carefully cut vegetables, a small smile forming on his lips, and his determination to learn cooking solidified once more.
Once he learned to cook, he could keep the little girl out of the kitchen. The kitchen had that heavy smell of smoke, and the little girl should only worry about eating well.
"I made zhajiangmian."
Before long, Holly served two steaming bowls of zhajiangmian, turning her head to look at Leo.
For breakfast, Holly thought it was fine to eat something simple; no need to make it too abundant.
"It smells so good."
Smelling the aroma, Leo already knew it would taste delicious.
The little girl’s cooking skills were truly impressive.
"If you ever want more, I’ll cook for you again."
Holly slightly curled her lips and slowly spoke.
Usually very lazy when it comes to cooking, she was more than willing if it was for Leo.
Cooking for someone you love can be a wonderful experience and an enjoyment.
"Once I learn, I’ll cook for you."
Leo shook his head, saying he would take the time to learn and then cook for Holly, not wanting her to be in the kitchen again.
"Alright."
Holly agreed.
But she thought Leo cooking... was truly a bit terrifying and likely wouldn’t be a good experience.
"When did you learn to cook?"
In the dining room, the two of them were eating zhajiangmian, and Leo looked up at Holly to ask.
"Uh, I don’t quite remember."
Holly shook her head; it seemed like she had known how to cook ever since she could remember, though seldom did she, and the things she made were edible.
Rose wasn’t unkind to her; she just felt sorry for Rose, who was a lady who knew nothing about housework, practically a kitchen disaster, always ordering takeout or taking her to dine out.
The kitchen at home was practically ornamental.
Takeout was fine, dining out was fine, but cooking was healthier, so she started trying to learn how to cook.
Perhaps she had a gift; the things she made weren’t impressive yet still edible, at least non-toxic.
When she was in school, she was a boarder, so she would cook for Rose during weekends or monthly breaks.
Actually, Rose did try cooking at one point but nearly destroyed the kitchen.
"Brother will cook for you in the future, okay?"
Leo looked at Holly, asking very seriously.
He suddenly had the urge to cook for Holly.
"Ah, regarding brother cooking, let’s leave that to Mrs. Hayes."
Holly shook her head with a serious expression.
Leo, being such a kitchen disaster, had better stay out of the kitchen; it wouldn’t be good to wreck it.
Having grown up in luxury, Leo always had Mrs. Hayes by his side, and cooking was quite challenging for him.
Leo raised an eyebrow and looked seriously at Holly, "You don’t believe in brother?"
First time in the kitchen attempting to cook, only for things to go so awry and nearly destroy it.
But Leo believed, with more attempts, he would succeed. Nothing was impossible.
"Uh, I believe."
Originally intending to shake her head, Holly, upon meeting Leo’s gaze, could only be forced to nod.
Frankly, she didn’t really believe it, given her mother was a living example.
A kitchen disaster, too, had said more attempts would help soften the dismal outcomes.
"Believe in brother; brother will make you a bountiful feast."
Leo reached out, gently ruffling Holly’s hair, speaking softly.
Any promise he made, especially to Holly, he would ensure to keep.
Holly nodded, "Okay."
They spent their breakfast time chatting, and Leo offered to wash the dishes.
Leo washing dishes?
Holly hesitated for a moment, staring at Leo.
"I may not know how to cook, but washing dishes is no problem."
Feeling a bit embarrassed, Leo touched his nose as he slowly explained.
He had never cooked, but at least he had washed dishes; he wasn’t that useless.
He could take care of himself; he wasn’t utterly clueless.
Holly nodded, "Okay."
As Leo took the dishes into the kitchen to wash them, Holly followed behind. She wanted entirely to trust Leo, but she still felt a bit worried.
"Afraid brother can’t wash dishes?"
At the kitchen door, Leo paused, turned back to look at Holly, a smile playing on his lips.
"No, I just want to see brother being serious."
Holly shook her head; of course, she would never admit that.
"Want to see brother being serious?"
Leo raised an eyebrow, looked at Holly earnestly, his tone was soft.
Holly nodded.
"Did you see it?"
Leo had been watching Holly and suddenly asked such a question.
"Huh?"
Holly was a bit puzzled; what was she supposed to see?
Seemingly, there was nothing.
"Brother being serious."
Leo’s smile was particularly gentle.
Holly blinked, her face full of confusion and not understanding.
"Seriously looking at you."
Leo lightly tapped Holly’s forehead, chuckling softly.
