Chapter 321: Love Quarrel?

"So tell me about yourself, Scarlett." Amon took a sip of his soup from the spoon.

The warm liquid flowed down his throat.

Beside him, Scarlett remained silent, eating her food without even glancing at him or reacting. She treated him as if he didn’t exist.

Amon’s lips twitched slightly. He exhaled. "You already know my name. I am Amon. You see, I am from the Valmoria Kingdom. Basically a commoner. Also an orphan. I used to live in Valerion City. Hah... my life was going normally like others. But one night, it suddenly changed. In the tavern where I was working as a staff member, a mysterious person came..."

And thus, Amon started to blabber his life story.

Scarlett looked like she was trying her best to remain composed and not lash out at the annoying boy beside her.

Of course, Amon didn’t care. He continued talking, telling her how he got to the Academy and how he made friends with high-ranking students.

Finally, after hearing his bullshit for a while, Scarlett had enough.

With a sharp frown and clear irritation in her eyes, she snapped, "Can you please shut your mouth? I am not interested in your backstory. How you came here. And if you think doing this will make you closer to me, then you are very wrong."

She turned back to her food.

Amon went silent. He stirred his spoon in the soup and then shifted his gaze to her beautiful face.

He started eating while looking at her face.

’Just wait, you! I am going to make you more annoyed~’

Stare~

Stare~

Scarlett continued her silent dinner. Without anyone talking to her, she could still feel his stare.

Munch!

Munch!

She ate the roasted meat, yet he continued to stare.

Finally, she put the meat down on her plate.

With an exasperated sigh and cold eyes, she said, "Hah... don’t stare at me like a creep."

The moment he heard that cold voice and that icy stare. Amon felt a shiver run down his spine.

Her cold amethyst eyes met his. Despite being so cold and indifferent, they were oddly attractive.

’I think I have gone too far,’ Amon thought nervously, though his face still carried a calm and gentle smile.

He raised both hands in surrender and gave her an apologetic smile.

With a sheepish grin, he said, "Sorry, sorry. But you just don’t talk to me. So I chose a creepy path."

With disbelief written clearly on her face, she asked, "For real? Don’t you feel any shame doing that?"

With a confused expression, he replied, "Why should I feel shame?"

With narrowed eyes and visible annoyance, she said, "For staring at me like a creep so blatantly. And the reason you gave me was because I didn’t talk to you? Are you for real?"

With a completely straight face, he answered, "Yup! I was just trying to be friendly with you. But you don’t even let me talk."

With a cold glare, she retorted, "Who asked you to be friendly with me? I don’t want any friends!"

Amon’s eyes widened dramatically.

With exaggerated shock, he said, "Don’t tell me... you love being a loner? Or are you an introvert? Hah. I can understand you. I was also an introvert before. But we change with time—"

With visible irritation, she cut him off. "I am not an introvert, nor am I a loner. And even if I am, it’s not your problem."

With a hurt expression, Amon replied, "What? It is my problem."

With confusion and slight disbelief, she asked, "And why is that your problem?"

Amon suddenly blushed and looked down. He started tapping the tips of his index fingers against each other.

With an embarrassed stutter, he muttered, "Wel–well... if you ask this so suddenly... how ca–can I say it?"

Scarlett looked truly baffled, as if she were seeing such a man for the first time in her whole life.

He was weird, odd, different, shameless.

She couldn’t find the right word for him.

Amon could see her shifting expressions.

Finally, she sighed defeatedly. She might truly have been thinking that talking to this boy would lower her IQ and make her more foolish like him.

With a tired tone, she said, "Okay, okay... don’t tell me the reason."

Her brain suddenly felt like it was throbbing from Amon’s endless blabbering.

Amon understood it. He smiled widely. With hopeful eyes, he said, "Then be my friend."

She looked at him with a deep frown.

With firm rejection in her voice, she replied, "Why should I? You are not even near me in age. I don’t want to be friends with a young boy."

She turned back to eating.

Amon remained silent with a soft smile.

He could tell just by looking at her. She was annoyed and irritated. For some reason, she looked cute.

Without thinking, and with a faint murmur escaping his lips, he muttered, "She’s adorable."

The words he should have kept in his thoughts came out of his mouth by mistake.

Scarlett froze. Her fingers tightened around the spoon. A blush crept onto her cheeks, though her face was barely containing her anger.

He couldn’t tell if she was getting red because of anger or embarrassment.

Or maybe both reasons.

With a dangerous glare and her eyes narrowing sharply, she demanded, "What did you just call me?" Her voice raised now. Loud enough for other people to hear.

Amon flinched. With a nervous laugh and raised hands, he said, "Hehe~ calm down, Scarlett, calm down."

He could feel some stares coming in their direction from other people.

Especially a certain group of young people like him. It seemed his friends were also watching this with excitement.

With rising anger and disbelief, she snapped, "Oh, now you want to calm me down? Then why, in the first place, did you piss me off?"

With a worried smile and feigned innocence, Amon quickly replied, "Hey! What pissed you off? I didn’t even say anything bad to you."

Trying his best to calm her down, and glancing around awkwardly, he added, "Look, everyone is watching us!"

At his words, she finally looked around.

The canteen had fallen silent. Everyone was looking at them... with excitement?

She slowly calmed herself.

Yes, they were looking at Amon and Scarlett with excitement.

Amon really wanted to curse at them. They were enjoying this like some drama while having dinner.

A fight between a couple? Or a young man trying to win the heart of a lady? No one knew. But they were secretly enjoying it.
