Xu Mo was merely a librarian at the library, how could he possibly be interested in economics? Prince Charlie must have heard about Xu Mo before; this could be discerned from his previous conversations with Ize and Carter.

At this moment, asking Xu Mo to select books on economics, could it be an intentional difficulty for Xu Mo?

However, Prince Charlie always had a friendly smile on his face, showing no hint of what he was thinking.

"I’ll go have a look." Xu Mo left and returned after a short while with several books in his arms, which he handed over to Prince Charlie, saying, "Please have a look at these books, Prince Charlie."

Prince Charlie looked them over and noted that the authors of these books were all master-level figures, and coincidentally, they were all graduates of Lucas University.

He glanced at Xu Mo and revealed a meaningful smile, saying, "These are very good, all masterpieces. There are two I haven’t read yet; I will definitely give them a careful look. Have you read these books?" freewebnøvel.com

"I’ve read a bit, but some parts are obscure, and my comprehension is not enough," Xu Mo said.

"That’s already very impressive," Prince Charlie said with a nod and a smile. "It seems that my Lucas University truly harbors hidden dragons and crouching tigers, even a librarian is diligent and eager to learn."

"Prince Charlie may not know, but I’ve heard that Xu Mo possesses profound theoretical knowledge, even capable of giving guidance to Transcendents. Carter and Ize often seek advice from Xu Mo, and they have made considerable progress," Douglas interjected from the side. "Moreover, he is skilled in psychology, attracting many female students from the school to seek his counsel."

Carter frowned, this matter had already been mentioned before, and Douglas’s deliberate mention of it in public was obviously intentional.

A photographer nearby was capturing everything here, naturally including their conversation.

Two Noble Young Masters seeking advice from a librarian, when news spread to noble circles, it certainly wouldn’t sound good. Although Xu Mo was part of the Anos Royal Family, his public identity was indeed that of a librarian. Douglas’s actions were clearly ulterior.

"Ize, Carter, is what Douglas said true?" Prince Charlie asked the two.

"Yes, Xu Mo indeed has a very solid theoretical foundation which has been of great help to me," Ize admitted openly.

Carter nodded in agreement as well.

"Such eagerness to learn is commendable," said Prince Charlie with a smile. He turned to Xu Mo and asked, "As a librarian, you do not forget to make an effort, studying hard at your post. That’s quite inspiring and definitely worth recording."

"Xu Mo, is there anything you need help with, or any conditions that need improving? Feel free to mention them, and I will see to your needs," Prince Charlie asked Xu Mo, as though attending to the well-being of the lower class.

This story, once out, would be a splendid talk of the town.

Xu Mo was the backdrop of a hardworking, lower-class individual who strived for knowledge without having attended school but fought hard in the library.

Hearing these words, Xu Mo looked up at Prince Charlie, noting the friendly smile on his face. However, Xu Mo didn’t believe for a second that Charlie was ignorant of everything happening here. Douglas’s cooperation, along with the discomfort of Ize and Carter, indicated that it was a case of killing two birds with one stone.

Xu Mo could see the implications, and so could Eliza, who frowned, appearing somewhat displeased.

She understood all too well that her half-brother with his deep scheming was not easy to get along with, his smile concealing the knife. He had already developed the air of a seasoned politician.

Though she was annoyed with Xu Mo, she still recognized his talent; otherwise, she wouldn’t have offered a twenty percent share to win him over, nor had she ever deliberately tried to trouble Xu Mo. It was only that she couldn’t stand him and desired to take him under her wing.

But with just one declaration, Prince Charlie had relegated Xu Mo to a very low position, consequently placing Ize and Carter in a lowly position as well.

In doing so, he also struck a blow at her pride.

She too had attempted to recruit Xu Mo, and Ize and Carter had always followed her lead.

"The librarian from our school is quite extraordinary, having read extensively and possessing a wealth of knowledge—certainly not someone who requires help," Eliza said coolly. "Not long ago, I offered to hire him as a guard for a high salary, but he declined."

Though this statement appeared to resent Xu Mo, in reality, it elevated him: the Princess herself personally offering a high salary to hire him as a guard, only to be refused, undoubtedly raising Xu Mo’s value.

While Eliza was annoyed with Xu Mo, she was even more dissatisfied with Charlie’s actions.

Xu Mo, on the other hand, was somewhat surprised that Eliza would stand up for him.

"Oh?" Prince Charlie revealed an intrigued expression. "Does that mean Xu Mo must have something exceptional about him?"

"People from the Lucas University Library are often extraordinary, aren’t they?" Elizabeth said.

Charlie was taken aback, glanced at Elizabeth, and then smiled. "True."

He couldn’t possibly denigrate the Lucas University Library; Elizabeth had tied Xu Mo and the Library together.

Xu Mo watched the siblings. They were subtly sparring, though without overt hostility.

Prince Charlie continued, "As a librarian, your diligence and aspiration are commendable. I happen to be at Lucas University these days to recruit members for the Royal Knights. There’s a position recommendation—would you be interested in serving the Royal Knight members?"

Murmurs spread among the onlookers. Prince Charlie inviting Xu Mo to serve the Royal Knights was a significant step up from being a librarian, offering the chance for close contact with the members of the Royal Knights.

Clearly, they saw it as an excellent opportunity.

However, Elizabeth frowned. She had just mentioned that Xu Mo had refused to become her guard, and now Charlie was inviting Xu Mo to serve the Royal Knights. The implication was clear.

If Xu Mo accepted, it would undoubtedly embarrass her, and he would effectively become one of Charlie’s subordinates.

That would leave her, Ize, and Carter all losing face.

"Prince Charlie is indeed appreciative of talents," someone next to them laughed, and even the school’s leaders said, "It’s indeed worth considering."

"To serve the Royal Knights is a chance that might not come again, do you need to think it over?" Douglas said to Xu Mo, his tone still carrying the nobility’s condescending attitude, as though offering Xu Mo charity.

Weren’t Ize and Carter consulting a librarian?

Ize and Carter standing nearby didn’t look too pleased.

In fact, this visit to the Library had nothing to do with Xu Mo; he had merely been caught in an undeserved calamity.

Moreover, from what they knew about Xu Mo, a Transcendent of the Anos Royal Family with exceptional Combat Power—how could he possibly serve and attend to the Royal Knights?

That would mean being inferior, and in the presence of Prince Charlie, it was even worse.

Xu Mo naturally understood all this; it was indeed an undeserved calamity. A covert struggle within the Royal Family had involved him as an excuse.

He naturally didn’t wish to be part of this mess, nor did he want to offend anyone. After all, he had his business to run on Lucas Star, and offending people was generally bad, let alone a prince.

But now it seemed that Prince Charlie was determined to make him take sides, and it seemed just his refusal would be taken as an offense. Plus, with him having brought Elizabeth in as a shareholder, it appeared he had no choice.

And judging by Elizabeth’s behavior today, despite her somewhat difficult temperament, she was far more approachable than Prince Charlie, who seemed rather sinister.

Besides, of course, he would not accept the role of serving the Royal Knight members.

"Thank you for the invitation, Prince Charlie, but I prefer studying," Xu Mo said, tactfully declining, not wishing for any conflict.

"Turning down the Royal Knights?" Before Prince Charlie could speak, Douglas said coldly.

Xu Mo frowned—was Douglas deliberately provoking him?

Refusing to serve the Royal Knights equated to looking down on them?

"Looking down?" Before Xu Mo could reply, a cold voice spoke out.

Behind Xu Mo, Zero appeared, having been watching the situation closely. These people had been bullying Xu Mo, whom she wouldn’t even bully.

Prince Charlie and Douglas looked towards Zero, to see her speaking, "Are you the noble who was hospitalized after a beating last time?"
