The Scheming Ex-Husband's Courtship-Chapter 714 - 618: Panda Blood
Before Ye Rui could speak, Ye Xiangzhong was the first to slam his hand on the table, angrily pointing at Luo Huafang: "What nonsense are you spouting? Even if Rui is now Mrs. Leng, it’s only right and proper she gets a share of my property. Ye Lin is still in college and doesn’t know how to manage a company, yet now you’re in such a hurry to fight over the property for him... cough, cough."
Ye Xiangrong was so angry that he started coughing violently.
Ye Rui quickly helped him sit back down, frightening Luo Huafang so much that she didn’t dare to breathe loudly, while Ye Lin snorted in disdain.
"Mom, Dad’s health hasn’t reached the point where we need to be reading his will, and besides, I won’t fight with Ye Lin over any excessive share. If we really divide it, let’s be fair - you, Ye Lin, and I should each take our own portion. What belongs to me, I won’t take a cent less, and I won’t ask for a cent more, so I hope you won’t talk about handing over the company to Ye Lin anymore. Respect Dad, and respect yourself."
"Enough, don’t talk to her anymore," said Ye Xiangrong, whose complexion finally returned to normal, taking Ye Rui’s hand: "Rui, come with Dad to the study. That new orchid species you told me about last time, I’m very interested. If it’s successfully cultivated, the prospects are looking good."
Watching father and daughter enter the study, Luo Huafang huffed with anger: "That old man, always siding with his daughter. I bet he has never even considered letting you manage the company."
Ye Lin’s eyes flickered: "Dad doesn’t appreciate me now because I have never achieved anything significant. Isn’t the Qin Family always opposing our Ye Family? If I can subdue them, I don’t believe the old man won’t start looking at me differently."
"Do you have a plan to deal with the Qin Family?"
"Don’t worry about it, I have a brilliant plan."
~
Next week is Leng Shaoqing’s birthday, and it will also be the first birthday since Ye Rui has known him. She asked Leng Shaoqing what he would like, and he didn’t want anything extravagant because he was busy with work and didn’t have time for socializing.
Ye Rui shared her idea of inviting family over for a birthday meal, not making it public, just a family feast, and Leng Shaoqing quickly agreed.
For this family feast, Ye Rui even went out of her way to learn how to cook vegetarian dishes, as Leng Shaoqing’s mother was a vegetarian for religious reasons, not eating fish, shrimp, meat, and the like.
After leaving the cooking shop, Ye Rui received a call from the group leader. Someone in their group, MIK, had a car accident, and everyone available was going to donate blood.
Ye Rui hurried to the hospital, where outside of MIK’s operating room stood four or five people; they had just donated blood and were sitting waiting.
"YY, you’re here," the group leader immediately got up.
Ye Rui extended her arm: "Take me to donate blood."
Two hours later, MIK’s surgery was a success, and his life was preserved. Outside the operating room, over a dozen people had gathered, and on hearing the news, they couldn’t help but cheer and applaud.
This was a special community because they all had the rare Rh-negative blood type.
This group was a small base for those with what they called "panda blood," created by the group leader, Old K. Ye Rui joined five years ago, and during those five years, they shared updates regularly and helped each other out. One for all, all for one – like with MIK’s car accident, when the hospital blood bank was clearly lacking. After receiving the group leader’s notification, everyone who could make it did, and little by little, their donations accumulated enough to save a life.
Here, everyone was addressed by letter-based nicknames, with Ye Rui’s being YY.
Old K said: "CRY is abroad and can’t come over. She’s been constantly asking about MIK’s condition."
Ye Rui had the best relationship with CRY in the group, often chatting online. CRY, with her gentle, generous, and kind nature, was well-liked by everyone in the group.
"Thank you, everyone. MIK should be fine now. Go on with your busy lives."
Old K then looked at Ye Rui: "YY, you look pale. Do you feel unwell?"
Ye Rui shook her head: "It’s nothing, probably just because I got up too early in the morning."
"Then you should head home early and rest. I’ll keep everyone updated about MIK’s condition in the group."
"Old K, you’ve worked hard."
"My life was also saved by you guys. For people like us who have been ’favored’ by God, if we don’t stick together, the consequences are really unimaginable."
Leaving the hospital, feeling somewhat unwell, Ye Rui hailed a car to return to the Leng Mansion. She often donated blood before, but today she felt uncomfortable, feeling lightheaded and weak.
Before reaching the Leng Mansion, a person suddenly darted out, blocking her way, causing the driver to slam on the brakes urgently, nearly causing a collision. Ye Rui, who was already feeling dizzy, was jolted and saw stars.
"Miss, are you alright?" The driver quickly turned to ask: "Some lunatic just came out of nowhere."
Ye Rui rubbed her head and shook it: "I’m fine."
Bang bang!
At that moment, the car window was forcefully knocked on, and through the glass, Ye Rui saw the displeased face of You Xia.
She paid the fare and told the driver to leave, then got out of the car with her bag.
"Ye, give me back my daughter. You shameless woman."
Ye Rui stepped aside, avoiding her.
"Mrs. Qin, please show some respect. If you’re looking for your daughter, don’t come to me and make a scene."
You Xia pointed accusingly at Ye Rui and shouted angrily, "My daughter went abroad with Leng Shaoqing and now, only a week after coming back, suddenly disappears. If it wasn’t you, then who else could it be?"
Disappearance? Qin Youyou disappeared?
Ye Rui furrowed her brows, feeling somewhat puzzled, but she didn’t want to concern herself too much with it.
"Mrs. Qin, you’ve got the wrong person," Ye Rui said indifferently as she turned to leave, "I have no interest in kidnapping or anything of the sort."
"Stop right there; it was you! You’re jealous because my daughter slept with Leng Shaoqing. You feared she would take your place, so you harbored a grudge and kidnapped her in a fit of hatred," You Xia accused.
"Both you and your son must be delusional, and evidently, both as shameless,"
You Xia grabbed her hand from behind and sat down on the ground like a shrew: "You’re not going anywhere! Return my daughter to me, you shameless vixen. My daughter truly loves Leng Shaoqing; she’s loved him for years. What’s wrong with that? Leng Shaoqing doesn’t love you at all, and yet you shamelessly cling to the position of Mrs. Leng...."
You Xia was surprisingly strong, and Ye Rui couldn’t break free for a moment. After a while, Ye Rui felt dizzy and a burning pain came from the wrist that You Xia was tightly clutching.
At that moment, a car slowly approached from a distance. Ye Rui recognized it and tried to take a closer look, but suddenly, You Xia yanked at her, causing her to stumble and fall to the ground, and then everything went black as she fainted.
"Huh?" You Xia, seeing Ye Rui collapse, was startled. She quickly let go and tried to scramble up, "Don’t try that trick with me, if you’re trying to feign death to escape responsibility, I won’t be fooled."
A car parked nearby, and a tall figure quickly walked over. Seeing the person who had fainted, he hurriedly bent down and scooped her up, the cold aura around him causing You Xia’s heart to flutter in panic, frightening her into stillness.
Leng Shaoqing carried Ye Rui inside while instructing his assistant, "Bring her in."
"Yes, Mr. Leng."
You Xia sensed something and tried to slip away, but was blocked by the assistant who said bluntly, "Mrs. Qin, please come and have a seat inside."
~
As Leng Shaoqing carried the person inside, the butler saw them and immediately asked with concern, "What happened to madam?"
"Call the doctor immediately."
"Right away," the butler hurried off to summon the doctor, while Leng Shaoqing carried Ye Rui directly into the bedroom on the second floor.
He laid her on the bed and was about to take off her coat when a white piece of paper peeked out from her pocket.
Leng Shaoqing pulled out the paper and his expression instantly turned cold. He picked up her right hand and pulled up her sleeve, the rage in his eyes almost palpable upon seeing the bruised needle mark.
Blood donation? She actually went to donate blood.
~
When Ye Rui regained consciousness, it was already dark outside.
She opened her eyes, looked around, and recognized her bedroom. Who carried her back here?
Before she fainted, she seemed to have seen Leng Shaoqing’s car. Was it him?
Why did he come home in the middle of the day?
Right then, the door opened, letting light spill in.
Ye Rui turned her head and her eyes brightened with joy, "Shaoqing?"
It really was him. When did he come back?
After her initial joy, Ye Rui felt a tinge of guilt as she noticed the dark, cold look in Leng Shaoqing’s eyes. Before she could speak, he threw a document at her, "What is this?"
Ye Rui knew what it was without looking; it had to be the blood donation document, which she had grown accustomed to keeping safely stored over the years.
"MIK from the group had a car accident. I only donated 400ml, the least amount," she said.
"Ye Rui, how many times have I told you not to donate blood anymore? Are my words falling on deaf ears?"
Ye Rui hung her head down, looking aggrieved, "Our blood type is rare, and if we don’t help each other, today it’s MIK who had an accident, maybe tomorrow it might be me. I think, everyone would come to donate without hesitation just like me."
Listening to her explanation, Leng Shaoqing’s gaze grew even darker, "I said no means no. If it happens again, I’ll lock you up and you won’t be allowed to go anywhere."
Ye Rui looked at him in shock, "I know you’re concerned about my health, but donating 400ml won’t cause any problems, I can recover quickly after eating something. Leng Shaoqing, you can’t be so unreasonable. Right now, helping others is helping myself...."
"Do I need to have someone follow you around the clock?" Leng Shaoqing was not the least bit swayed by her words, leaving Ye Rui feeling defeated and frustrated that she just couldn’t reason with him.
Ye Rui drooped her head and stopped talking.
