The Royal Mark-Chapter 99: Talks Too Much
Valeria noticed that Elsa was quiet during their boat ride going back to the castle last night. Even in the carriage, she does not speak a word on her own and only talks to answer questions being asked of her.
She let it go, thinking that her granddaughter was just tired from dispelling curses the whole day. However, her somber mood carried through the morning. The servants told her that the princess just complied with whatever they asked her to do and did not say a single complaint ever since she woke up, which was unlikely of her for she didn’t want the servants helping her dress up.
She saw Elsa on her usual seat at the dining table looking lost and from the looks of it, she was not even eating her food and just absentmindedly playing with it using her fork. She was about to go to her when she saw the king together with some werewolves.
"There she is! The divine mage that helped your people yesterday. You can thank Mistress Valeria yourself," said the king to the man beside him.
Valeria walked up to the king and greeted his guests, "You flatter me, My King, but, I was not the only divine mage there."
"Right, where is our granddaughter?" asked King Allister before Valeria led them to Elsa.
"Princess Elsa," called the king. Elsa went back to her senses and stood up, but frowned when she saw Lady Alexandra behind her grandfather.
"This is Alpha Hoven Haraldsen, the High Steward of Arcanis, and her sister Lady Alexandra Haraldsen."
Elsa bowed to them pretending that it was their first meeting for she just wanted the introduction to end so she could finish eating and go back to her room. But to her disappointment, the day seems to be not in her favor.
"Our future queen... I met her last night–" Hoven spoke but was interrupted.
"Apologies, brother, King Allister. Let me speak on behalf of our people since I was the one who last spoke with them. How can you call her our future queen when there was no announcement made? I think it is rude and deceitful when Zemaria promised our kingdom Princess Hera Van der Aart but all we know is that she ran away and broke the alliance.
Now we are given a replacement princess, whom we haven’t heard of and with unknown paternal lineage. The betrothment was not officially announced which we think is an insult to our kingdom. No compensation was offered and the conditions of the alliance are not even clear up to this point. Forgive me but, our prince is currently in front of the battle area without help from your soldiers, and if he dies there then this alliance is useless for any alpha could challenge King Alaric and become our new King.
So tell me what is the point of this marriage alliance when our people are currently fleeing from our own land because no one is helping us against our common enemies? Can you– Ah!"
Lady Alexandra jumped and almost stumbled back as she moved away from her spot. Her heartfelt complaints were cut off when Nile peed on her dress causing Elsa and Drake to press their lips together to stop themselves from laughing.
[Why did you do that?] Gaia inquired of Nile.
[She talks too much and it hurts my ears. Why can’t she be direct to the point and just say she wants Chris for herself, period, end of discussion.] Niel answered.
[Good job, Nile!] Ciel chuckled.
"Why do you have a mutt in the dining hall? Shoo, shoo!" Alexandra exclaimed in anger.
Nuri and Nile growled at Alexandra while Gaia and Ciel barked at her.
"Careful with your words, they don’t only bite, they have powers too. Don’t piss them off too much for they might burn you alive or freeze you to death. Why don’t you say all your complaints to your prince since he’s the one who dragged me here and doesn’t want to let me go?
Marry him if you want, I don’t care... That is if you can make him agree to marry you... Perhaps you should start looking for a love potion since once he gets back, our fates will be sealed," Elsa then turned around, not letting Lady Alexandra retort.
"Oohh feisty. No wonder Chris is head over heels in love with her," Hoven whispered, trying to keep his opinion off of the human ears, knowing that the werewolves could still hear him.
"No, he is not. He is just doing his duty to his people," Alexandra countered.
"She’s his mate, sis. So, better wake up yourself from dreaming. He didn’t look at you before and the more that he will not look to you now," Hoven sternly said to his sister, before they all took their seat on the dining table.
Valeria followed Elsa without her knowing until they arrived at her room. "Grandma! What are you doing here? Aren’t you going to eat breakfast?" Elsa asked.
"You are my priority rather than food. Now tell me dear, what is bothering you?" Valeria said while pulling her gently to the sofa so they could have a heart-to-heart talk.
"I am worried about Chris. Alexandra likes Chris and she wouldn’t have been that worried last night if Chris was not really hurt. But Andrius kept on saying that Chris is fine because that’s what the report says. What if the report is not true and they were told by Chris to write that since he knew I was in the camp?"
"Oh dear, don’t say that. I am sure that they won’t let anything bad happen to him and if he really needs help then the commander will not think twice and report it immediately."
"But grandma, I don’t know how to explain it, but I really do feel deep in my heart and gut that he is really hurt. I was not able to sleep last night because of that. Call me crazy but I think I can feel what he is feeling. It is not that strong for me to be hundred percent sure about it but I am sure I don’t feel normal at all."
"Did he mark you?" Valeria asked with a blank face, surprising Elsa.
"What kind of question is that? Of course, he did not. Even if I asked him to mark me, he was so noble and wanted to wait for the wedding to happen–"
"You asked him to mark you? Are you out of your mind? Did something happen with you two?" Valeria blurt out causing Elsa to bite her lower lip and regret that she let her mouth blabber the things that she was keeping to herself.
