Chapter 346: Risk My Life For You

"I didn’t give any—" King Mordrak began to explain, but Elsa was resolute in her plan.

Pointing to Beatrice, Elsa said, "That servant told me it was a gift from you. I was happy to receive it, but now I’m disappointed..." She pouted, feigning irritation.

"M-My King, t-the chamberlain said it was a gift from you," Beatrice stammered, playing along with Elsa.

"Oh! My chamberlain, yes. I almost forgot. I told him to give it to you, but I’ve been so busy organizing our wedding that it slipped my mind," King Mordrak said to Elsa.

’That man should’ve informed me before doing something like this. But she seems to love it, so he did a good job after all,’ the demon king thought.

"That’s what I thought..." Elsa commented. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

’What the hell is in this bottle?!’ she wondered, feeling a surge of anger. She wanted to explode—literally—but knew she had to stay composed or else she might be unable to find out what was in it and who it was from

"But the main reason I called you here is because of my servant. She angered me this morning, and I want her punished," Elsa remarked.

"Are you talking about the human servant?"

"Yes, but I can’t think of a punishment yet. In the meantime, I need a replacement."

"You can choose whoever you like, my love. You know that you can do whatever you like in my kingdom, and I only forbid you two things; Using your magic before our wedding and seeing or talking to anyone outside of Kurzen. Other than that you can do whatever you like. My guards will always be watching you anyway," Mordrak smirked.

"If that’s the case then I choose her," Elsa told the demon king, directing at Beatrice.

"You want another human to serve you? I thought the previous one pissed you off?"

"She did, but this one is older and more experienced, so I am taking her."

"Alright, do what you like. I will inform my chamberlain to give that servant the permission she needs around the castle to serve you better."

"Thank you. Now if you’ll excuse me, I will go back to my room. I do not feel well lately, so I should rest."

The King nodded and didn’t ask any more questions, for he was aware of Elsa’s condition and also preferred her to be in her room rather than roaming around at least before they got married.

When Elsa and Beatrice reached Elsa’s room, Elsa quickly locked the door. She took a piece of paper from under her bedside table and a compass. "I need you to do three things for me today. Make sure Lulu receives this letter and compass. It will guide her in which direction to go. My instruction is in the letter.

The second thing that I need you to do is find out who gave this tonic to the chamberlain. It was very obvious that Mordrak was not aware of it. I also don’t think that the chamberlain would act on his own. Be discreet in your search, can you do that?"

"Definitely, My Queen. I would risk my life for you. But if there’s one good thing about being a human is that they don’t pay attention to us. We are invisible in this kingdom, so even if I do ask around, they won’t suspect a thing. I promise you, I will find out who ordered the chamberlain to mix this into your drink," Beatrice said.

"Good. The last one is to give this official order to the guards outside your house. It says there that Lulu will not be allowed to go out and no one is allowed to visit her except her family until I decided on her punishment. This will help all of you focus on your tasks and this will make sure that no one will see what you are all doing inside your house.

Now, go on. Leave and do all those things. Go back when it’s time for lunch. I want you to take care of my food from now on. I don’t want anyone cooking or serving me food. Inform the cook about it, and if he has any complaint about it, tell him to come to me," Elsa instructed.

Beatrice bowed and left. Since it was still early to cook Elsa’s lunch, she decided to go back home to give the scroll to the guards. There were only two guards that were stationed at the front of their property.

She gave the scroll to them which contained the seal of Elsa and their official order to not let Lulu out of the house and not let anyone in.

Since her husband is skilled in farming, they were lucky enough to be given a large plot of land so his husband and family could take care of rare crops for the King. She has two other daughters younger than Lulu who help her husband.

On the third day that Lulu had learned how to gather mana, Elsa had instructed her to talk to her family about their plan of escape. Beatrice and her husband were hesitant at first but remembering how Lulu had almost been molested in the town’s marketplace before she began working in the castle, they decided to join her and Elsa.

They don’t want their other two young daughters to experience what Lulu has been through. If it was not for the castle’s cook who was passing by that day, surely Lulu wouldn’t been spared.

From then on, Elsa would give them small tasks every day to prepare for the day of their escape. Fortunately, both Lulu and her parents, work for the King and it makes going in and out of the castle easy.

Lulu’s parents were known to be loyal humans to the king like their ancestors and no one would ever suspect them working for Elsa. Beatrice would bring home things from the castle to their house and keep them there until the day that they would all need them.

"Mother," Lulu greeted the moment Beatrice entered their house.

Beatrice immediately handed the letter from Elsa to Lulu and waited for her daughter to finish reading it. "Do you think you can do it?" Beatrice asked her daughter.

Lulu smirked and replied, "Yes, mother. The Queen taught me well. In fact, I have started teaching my sisters too. They should be able to help me a bit with my task."

"That’s good to hear. You better start now, it may look near from this map but it is sure far," Beatrice commented before leaving once more.
