Chapter 314: Over My Dead Body

Chris turned around and wrapped his wife in his arms. Elsa joined her husband and they both sobbed together letting themselves feel defeated at that moment with a promise to pick themselves up and fight together.

After pouring their grief and sorrow through their tears, they wiped each other’s tears and sealed each other’s lips with a passionate kiss.

When Chris released Elsa, she cupped her face and said, "I will do everything and bring our son back. All I ask is your patience. I do not want to make any uncalculated move. The demon king is a master of deception and he only works for his gain. He should never ever be trusted no matter what."

Elsa nodded and embraced his husband. "Alright, but let me help you. You know that I could fight well. I am powerful too, I am full of rage and I need to punch and hurt some demons or else I will explode like an angry volcano. So you have to allow me to join the battle."

Chris chuckled and hugged her tightly, slightly swinging her from left to right. "Alright. If you really want to punch and kick some demons then go ahead and do so. But we must plan it carefully.

The Moon Goddess gave Rocco to us and I am praying that she will protect him while he is not with us. Besides, Milda and Ambros are with him. I don’t know why your father is not fighting back when he can. He must have a good reason for holding back. But I am sure that he will not hesitate to fight back if they do something bad to our son."

"I hear you. What time are you going to Vrenada tomorrow? I was planning to go with you and we can go our separate ways on my way to the Haraldsen’s Mansion," Elsa asked.

"You will join Lexi and the others?"

"Yes, I will go insane if I stay here and do nothing. I must keep myself busy or I might blow up."

"Do you want to go to Vrenada with me then?" Chris offered.

But Elsa retorted instantly since she was planning something else. "No, I don’t want to go with you. I might cause chaos there if ever their council turns us down. I don’t want to start a war with Vrenada too."

Chris couldn’t help but chuckle, "Yes, you are right. I could imagine you doing that, just like what you did in Qiryn. Elandir couldn’t stop talking about it."

"See, your wife is powerful. You should entrust to me the attack from the east," Elsa tried to convince him hoping she’ll get a yes.

"You are a cunning woman in a good way. Let’s talk about it again after I get the answer from Vrenada, let’s align our plans after that," Chris said.

"Are we going to have dinner together?"

"Sorry, I can’t. I will have a meeting with the council and I think it will be long. Don’t wait for me, eat and to go bed without me. I’ll catch up with you whenever I can." Chris gave her a kiss on the forehead before heading out.

He is still blocking her from their bond so she knows that he is worried and nervous about the meeting with the councils of Arcanis and Vrenada.

She looked around and saw Rocco’s toys and stuff, she quickly walked out of the room for it was only making her impatient. The mother instinct in her is screaming loudly to go and rescue her son, and that’s what her heart says too.

But she promised herself to try to be calm as long as she could, not for her but for her family. She would not let anything bad happen to them even if she needs to sacrifice herself just to save them.

The next day, Arla, Lexi, and Rylie left early to go to the Haraldsen’s Mansion and did not wait anymore for Elsa to wake up since they already had a plan in place.

Elsa went to the drawing as she was told by the servants that Chris was there. She saw him sleeping on the couch and so did Hoven, Drake, and Baahu. She can’t help but feel pity for these men who are working so hard to help them.

Hoven was the first one to wake up after sensing her enter the room and immediately woke up the rest. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮

"I-I’m sorry to wake you up, you have not slept that much yet," she said since she waited all night until she fell asleep but Chris did not sleep in their room.

"That’s ok, we were just taking a short nap before we traveled to Vrenada. Did you sleep well?" Chris uttered.

"A bit, but I am here because a letter from Zemaria arrived. Drake, do you want to read it?" Elsa smiled and handed over the letter to her uncle.

Drake opened it and said, "Well, it’s just a short message saying that Andrius is now the new King of Zemaria and he will travel here after a week. He just needs to sort out some things and wait for Father and Valeria to return from Qiryn since they left right after the coronation."

"Hmm, everyone is rushing things. I just hope we will all get a good result after this," Chris mentioned.

"What else does it say?" Elsa asked in curiosity.

"Andrius wants me and Arla to go back once he leaves the port of Zemaria. He doesn’t want to leave the Kingdom with just Father and the royal guards. He wants me and Arla to lead the defense line at the border," Drake added.

"Alright, that’s understandable and that’s how it should be. I will ask the servants to make preparations for your departure," Chris answered. "Anything else?"

Drake sighed and stared at Elsa before looking back at Chris. "Both Andruis, Father, and Valeria wanted to have Elsa stay in Qiryn with Hera, just until we get Rocco back."

"No way! Over my dead body!" Elsa retorted.
