Chapter 310: No Longer Hopeless

Elsa ran to their bedroom in tears for she understood why Chris said what he said. But she was a mother before she became a queen, and even if it was the other way around, she would always put her child’s life before hers.

She couldn’t imagine how Rocco was doing now. Did the demons hurt him? Are they taking of him? Is he hungry? So many thoughts were running through her head but she also knew that she must not act foolishly or Rocco might end up hurt because of her recklessness.

*Knock, knock*

"Open up, it’s me," Chris called from the other end of the door.

"Go away! I don’t want to talk to you right now!" Elsa yelled back.

"Let’s talk... Please..." Chris pleaded but Elsa did not answer him anymore. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖

He could feel the worry and sadness in her heart and he couldn’t blame her even if she acted that way. He, too, was furious but they must be careful in dealing with the situation for their son’s life and Milda’s life is in the hands of the demon king now.

They are not even sure if it was really the demon king who ordered their abduction. Both Zemaria and Arcanis haven’t received any demand letter from anyone yet.

Chris could clearly hear Elsa sobbing in their room and he couldn’t do anything since she was refusing his help.

"Chris..." Hoven called out. "Let her be. She’s tired from your journey and still shocked so she’s not thinking clearly. Let her rest and talk to her tomorrow. I will assign guards around her without her knowledge to make sure she will not do anything hasty."

Chris nodded and asked, "What did the council say?"

Chris’s elite alphas went to Arcanis first because they needed to prepare for what was coming. Additionally, Arcanis could not declare war without the council’s approval, and it was their duty to ensure that the king did not misuse his power.

"They are willing to support you. I guess they all fell in love with the prince the first time they saw him. But you and Elsa must be coronated first. You can no longer prolong your coronation. If you are thinking about the prince. We can hold a separate coronation for him after we get him back.

But for now, the new King and Queen of Arcanis must be coronated in front of our people and receive the blessing of the Moon Goddess. After that, we can proceed in planning our attack. You can use all the authority that you need to wage a war against Kurzen."

"When is the next full moon?" Chris asked.

"In a week. That’s also the reason why I am here. The council is already preparing for your coronation that will be held after a week."

"Alright, let’s do that. Can you do me a favor? Please have Lexi, Arla, and Rylie stay with Elsa tonight. I will stay in my old room and meet me there together with the others after an hour," Chris ordered before leaving.

Elsa fell asleep due to too much crying and the sun was already high up in the sky when she woke up. She looked around after smelling the delicious scent of grilled meat in their room.

She was surprised to see Lexi sitting on the table looking at a map. "How did you get in?" she asked before walking towards her.

"The door in the balcony is open so I jump and open the door to let the servants bring our lunch. Let’s eat! I am starving. I have been for you to wake up for hours now," Lexi said and removed the cover of the grilled steak that Elsa loves.

Elsa sat and stared at the dishes in front of her before bursting into tears once more. Lexi panicked and asked, "You do not like it? Wait here, I will ask the servants to bring a different one."

But Elsa grasped her hand and said, "It’s not the food, it’s Rocco. I wonder if he had eaten yet. He must be hungry and wanting to drink milk. He only started to eat solid foods and still looks for me to drink milk. I miss him so much!"

Elsa wailed, and Lexi quickly embraced her. She might not be a mom yet but she could feel Elsa’s sorrow. She doesn’t have to have a child to know how painful it is to have your child taken away from you especially a baby who’s still dependent on their mothers.

"I assure you Luna, all of us will not stop until we get him back. But we must not make rash decisions for it may only put the prince in harm instead of helping him. You understand what I mean right?" Lexi said calmly, trying to pull Elsa back to her senses.

"I do... I know I must be patient and wait, but I am also worried, it’s killing me!" Elsa sobbed once more and Lexi just let her be. She stayed by her side patting her back and patiently waiting for her to cry it all out.

When Elsa finally stopped, Lexi told her the news, "The council will hold your coronation in 7 days."

"What? Don’t they have hearts? They know that our son is missing and they want us to celebrate?" Elsa exclaimed furiously.

"No, Luna, listen to me first," Lexi uttered looking straight into Elsa’s eyes before adding, "There will be no celebration. It will just be a coronation for both of you in front of the citizens of Arcanis so that you and your husband will receive the blessing of the Moon Goddess and will be officially announced as the new King and Queen of Arcanis.

King Christopher would then have powers to do whatever he wanted especially declaring wars against other kingdoms. The good news is, that the council had already taken his side and was in favor of doing whatever it took to bring the little prince back."

Elsa couldn’t help but cry once more. However, this time, it is not because of pain and sorrow. It was because of hope. She could now see the light at the end of the tunnel. She has both Zemaria and Arcanis’ support and she’s no longer hopeless in getting their son back.
