The Royal Mark-Chapter 283: Snap Out of It
"Argh!!!"
Laureen’s scream was all that could be heard on the second floor in the guest wing of Rügengard Castle. Pain, grief, and desperation can be heard in her voice as the onlookers can only pity and sympathize with her.
Unlike Neia, Laureen was a bit calmer and was not using any force to push anyone away.
Andrius was the first one to arrive and found her on the floor curling up in pain and extreme sadness. He immediately sat beside her and tried to embrace her to lessen her pain. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"No! Please don’t, Your Highness..." Laureen gently pushed him away and continued to sob.
Elsa and Chris arrived at the scene and saw the poor state of the half-breed. Elsa patted Andrius’ back and said, "Let her be for now."
Andrius sighed in sorrow and stood up with heaviness in his heart and soul. He wanted to be by Laureen’s side in that crucial moment but she’s not letting him in. He knows that it could be that her wolf is currently dying and he doesn’t want her to be alone while going through it.
’Lexi, please hurry. I think you can comfort Laureen better than I can,’ Elsa pleaded in their mind link.
"Laureen... I’m sorry, I wish I could do more..." Elsa mumbled after kneeling beside her. To her surprise, Laureen almost jumped at her and wrapped her arms around her, wailing.
Elsa could only imagine the pain that she must be going through at that moment. She embraced Laureen and gave gentle pats on her back while saying, "Let it all out, we are all here for you."
"My wolf... She’s gone..." Laureen uttered between her sobs.
Elsa hugged her tightly and a single tear fell from her eye which she quickly wiped off. She doesn’t want Laureen to see that they pity her and feel bad for her. As much as possible she wanted Laureen to get accustomed to her new life without grieving so much.
She knows that it must have hurt so much to lose someone’s wolf forever but becoming a pure human will also open a lot of opportunities for her and just like Milda said, it’s not so bad after all.
"I know... I’m sorry you have to go through all this... I’m so sorry, Laureen..." Elsa whispered even though she was not sure if she still had her super hearing.
"It hurts so much! She died because of me. I was able to talk to her before she vanished. She took all the damage that that evil witch did to me. I should have died with my wolf!" Laureen wept.
"Do not ever say that ever again!" Lexi yelled making Laureen look at her.
"I don’t know how painful you must be feeling but people who love you would agree with me that this is better than you dying! Look around you Laureen, we are here with you, the people in this room love you more than you can imagine. Please don’t you dare say you should have died.
Look at your mom, do you think your pain can be compared to her? No! I am sure that she’s more hurt than you, more than all of us here. No mother would want to see their children suffering. Do you really want to die so you could leave her alone in this world?
It’s okay to grieve, we will all grieve and cry with you, but not appreciating the new life you have is selfishness. Be grateful that you survive and use this second life of yours to be with the people you love. Don’t waste your wolf’s sacrifice just because you’re in pain. Snap out of it!"
Laureen is stunned and speechless by Lexi’s words but she admits that her friend is right. And as of now, all she could do was pour her sadness out and cry until she got tired.
’That’s harsh, Lexi,’ Elsa said inwardly.
’I know, but she needed to hear it. Everyone is already comforting her and she needs someone who will pull her senses out of her.’
After a few more sobs, Laureen wiped the tears that were still flowing and bravely glanced at her mom who was standing in the corner crying quietly while watching her daughter pour her heart out with her friends.
"Mama..." Laureen uttered making the heartbeat of Laura race fast. "I’m sorry, I didn’t think of you... I am safe now, please don’t cry anymore," Laureen added.
That didn’t make Laura stop crying, instead, her quiet sobs became louder as she ran towards her daughter.
The mother and daughter scene touched everyone, including Milda. It was so painful to watch that she slowly and quietly walk out of the room not wanting anyone to see how red her eyes were.
Unfortunately, King Allister noticed her sneaking out so he followed her.
"Milda..." the King called out in a soft low voice.
The princess stopped walking but didn’t turn around to look at her father. She just stood there silently waiting for his next words.
King Allister was full of hesitation given how detached their father-daughter relationship was. But he mustered all his courage and gently grasped her arm.
"You did a good job today, my daughter. I am so proud of you, the King praised.
Milda inhaled deeply, gathering her strength and composure before facing the King.
"You are? I have been wanting to hear that for so many years, Father..." Milda said with watery eyes and a wide smile on her face.
King Allister smiled back, relieved and happy at the same time. The reconciliation that he had been waiting for is finally here. Just like Laureen, this is his second chance in life and he would spend it with his loved ones.
He will make sure that from now on, everything that he does is the things that will bring happiness to the people that he loves.
He opened his arms wide, inviting his daughter for a hug, and she gladly took his invitation. However, Princess Milda’s smile quickly faded the moment she laid her head on her father’s chest. It was replaced with sadness and regret, something that she wanted to keep to herself as long as she could.
