The Royal Mark-Chapter 270: Monster Queen

After Elsa puts Rocco back to sleep, she excitedly lies in bed ready to tell Chris that she’s finally free once more. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

’Chris, are you still awake? Rocco is now sleeping, we can pro–’

Chris stopped her before she could complete what she was about to say.

’We are just a few minutes away from Saldivar. I will close off our bond after this, I don’t want you to worry unnecessarily.’

’Oh ok. Please be careful,’ Elsa uttered with full affection, even though she was a bit disappointed that their plan wouldn’t happen tonight. But she understands the situation and also wants the war to be over soon... They are almost at the end of it.

’I will. Please go to sleep and don’t stay up late. I will contact you again once I’m free.’

And with that, Chris closed their bond so that Elsa could not feel his emotions and hear his thoughts. He also wanted to focus on the upcoming battle and avoid getting distracted. However, he kept his link with Hoven and Lexi, instructing them to report to him as soon as possible anything that required his attention.

"Christopher," Andrius called out. "As planned, we will dock at the southwest part of the Salvidar Territory. The rebel witches already made preparations with our mages to make sure we would arrive undetected by the witch queen."

"Nice work, Andrius. Anything else that we need to know before we dock?" Chris asked.

"Everything is already in place. Just make sure that your people will partner with a mage when we attack. We don’t know what the witch queen prepared in store for us. Please be ready."

Andrius, Stefan, and Chris then went to their respective group. Their ship is the first to dock the Saldivar Territory and behind them are sixty more ships that carry mages, vampires, and werewolves.

The first group is composed of mages and werewolves. The humans agreed to mount the werewolves in order to advance to the witch queen’s castle much faster since they did not bring horses with them to save time and resources.

Following them are the vampires who are all on alert and on the lookout for any witches that are after the mages. Both werewolves and vampires are weak against the witches’ dark magic and would rely heavily on the mages to shield them against their enemies’ attacks.

Both the werewolves and the vampires were instructed to protect the humans at all costs for those mages are their only hope to win against the witches’ dark magic.

"It’s so quiet, could we be walking into a trap?" Drake asked Andrius after traveling towards the queen’s castle for hours.

"I don’t think so. Our troops would detect it somehow if we were," Andrius said confidently but spoke too soon.

"You jinx it! Damnit!" Drake exclaimed when the werewolves in front suddenly halted after a large group of witches suddenly appeared on the road.

"Hold your magic! Don’t Attack! I repeat do not engage! I know her..." Stefan yelled out after seeing the woman in front.

"Please... We mean no harm. I am Yejin, and my group and I would want to join your fight against Queen Yvonne."

Chris and Andrius walk towards Yejin to know more about her agenda.

"Why would you do that?" Andrius asked with doubt.

"Queen Yvonne is nothing but a monster! She’s not our queen! We despise her. Our group is part of the rebels and we are the unlucky ones who were not able to flee our own land because of different reasons.

But one thing is for sure, we are here to fight! We will not stand still and wait for more of our loved ones to die just to prolong the queen’s life! We don’t want her to live more years just to oppress the citizens of Salvidar!" Yejin proclaimed with tears in her eyes.

Chris and Andrius frowned for they both did not understand the revelations that this woman just exposed to them.

As if they could read each other’s thoughts, Andrius nodded at Chris letting him ask all the questions in his mind.

"What do you mean by prolonging the queen’s life?" Chris asked.

"I used to work in the castle as a maid. She gives free magic lessons to young kids who were not born with dark magic until my daughter came of age and she was one of them. I happily took her to the castle thinking that it was for the best.

But one of the guards who was my husband’s friend told us the truth after seeing my daughter on the castle ground. But it was too late! I could not save her, my daughter is gone!" Yejin slumped on the floor as she burst into tears remembering the unfortunate event.

"What do you mean? I am not understanding what you are saying. Why does your daughter need saving if she’s studying in the castle?" Andrius asked impatiently.

"That monster does not teach the kids dark magic. It has been years that many of the children born here are not born witches. Lately, more and more kids are gaining mage’s elemental powers as they come of age.

The witches’ powers are weakening and children are born humans! We don’t know how did that happen but the queen is using them to prolong her life. Her immortality is not because she possesses strong dark magic but because she sucks the life force of the children who has a mage’s magic.

She used to kidnap human children or women from Zemaria but since it was getting harder and harder to get one, she killed her own people just to extend her useless life! We won’t allow her to do that anymore, she must be killed!" Yejin cried out and the people behind her roared in unison.

"All this time, we have been thinking that the demon king is feeding her with demonic power but then she was just using an ancient and forbidden spell..." Andrius murmured which Chris and Stefan heard.

"If you are all willing to risk your lives to achieve our goal, then you are welcome to fight alongside us."

Yejin smiled as she wiped her tears after getting the approval from Chris that she and her group were waiting to hear. They are a step closer to all their goals and all that is left is to find and defeat their monster queen.
