The Royal Mark-Chapter 136: Glimmering Werewolves
Chris scanned the crowd, all writhing in pain much like his mate. "Am I hallucinating, or is every werewolf in this place glimmering?" he inquired of Ciel, who was alongside Elsa.
[Definitely glimmering,] the elderly canine responded.
Elsa, too, scanned the surroundings, but her vision began to blur and dim. "Chris..." were Elsa’s final words before her consciousness faded away.
Chris caught her just in time, at the same time hearing his people erupt in cheers and ecstasy. They all felt rejuvenated and considerably stronger and not glimmering anymore.
"What just happened?" Chris queried Hoven, who experienced the same as others.
"I don’t know. I can’t explain it but similar to the princess, it felt like something pierced me in my neck then when Luna fainted, I felt a surge of energy. It was warm and comforting, as if I am being healed by one of the healers and I felt damn stronger and revitalized," Hoven detailed.
Chris pondered, "I experienced something similar but without the pain, when I marked her. Could it be the result of sharing power with the pack?"
Hoven grinned as if he just received a fantastic news, "Damn! Our Luna is one hell of a force to reckon with. We are gonna fucking win this war! YEAH!" Hoven then howled in joy, a chorus that everyone joined.
Their combined howl reached Elsa’s consciousness, awakening her. "What happened? My head hurts, and why is everyone howling?" she inquired of Chris.
Chris suddenly embraced her tightly, nearly suffocating her. "You’re an angel, my love! Sent by the goddess to us!"
"What? Let me go, I can’t breathe," Elsa protested. Instead of releasing her, Chris silenced her with a kiss, prompting applause, cheers, and even some women squealing in excitement and delight.
’Ehem, ehem... Sorry to interrupt your busy tongue, Your Highness. I’ve just received a report from one of my men indicating that Mistress Valeria has stopped dispelling the dark magic in the camp. According to him, those afflicted by the witches’ curses are now undergoing self-healing. It’s a slow process, but there’s no longer a need for a divine mage’s dispel magic," Hoven conveyed through their mind link.
Chris withdrew from Elsa, his gaze fixed on Hoven with a shocked expression. A witch’s curse was the werewolves’ greatest fear. In the past, not every witch possessed this capability. Only those who had bargained with demons could wield demon power, a necessary component for casting a curse on werewolves.
Only true alphas can heal naturally from it. Alphas may or may not heal from it; for others, it meant an inevitable death sentence. Hence, the news was both unbelievable and promising.
Turning to Hoven, Chris suggested, "Let’s put our theory to the test, shall we?" Hoven nodded, and Chris abruptly seized the sword of Arla hanging from her waist, eliciting gasps of surprise and anticipation from everyone.
He slashed Hoven’s arms, inflicting multiple cuts and lesions, leaving everyone in shock.
"What the hell are you doing?!" Elsa exclaimed, attempting to rush to Hoven’s aid, only to be halted by Chris.
"Just wait and see," Chris replied.
Hoven raised his arms for everyone to witness. Lexi and Laureen, who were beside Hoven, covered their mouths in astonishment, while the others, including Elsa, had their jaws drop. Hoven’s wounds were healing at a much swifter pace than before.
Grinning at Chris, Hoven knelt in front of Elsa, placing one knee on the ground. "You have my utmost thanks, and I will be forever grateful to you, Princess. Once again, I pledge my alliance and loyalty to you, Luna Elsa, the future Queen of Arcanis!" 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
Chris, still holding the sword, raised his hand while addressing his people loudly. "Treasure the gift of your Luna! The future Queen of Arcanis!" Everyone dropped to one knee, howling and cheering for Elsa, who remained unaware of the events unfolding.
The Priestess and Chris took Elsa’s hands, raising them as if she had just won a competition. Confused, Elsa whispered to the Priestess, "I don’t understand what everyone is cheering for."
The Priestess laughed and explained, "You just shared your power of healing with everyone. We werewolves can heal, but what you shared significantly accelerated the process and made us immune to witches’ curses. You truly are a gift from the Moon Goddess, Luna." The Priestess then bowed to Elsa, wearing a big smile.
"Wow, I didn’t know I could do that," Elsa murmured to herself, still unable to believe that a simple ceremony could enable her to share her power with others.
"Remember, I told you, being a Luna to a pack allows you to share your strength with the entire pack. But you are special, my love. So it’s only expected that you will also share something special," Chris winked at her.
Chris raised his hands, signaling for everyone’s attention.
"Today, we will take back what is ours!" Chris declared with unwavering conviction.
The crowd erupted in cheers, fists raised, voices echoing with passion and emotion.
Chris pressed on, "We will march back to our land and crash all our enemies to the ground!"
The crowd responded with a resounding, "AWOO!"
"We won’t retreat! We will push forward! We will fight back!" Chris declared.
"AWOO!"
"They will all die on the land that they took, Arcanis will be their graveyard! ARCANIS IS OURS!!!" Chris proclaimed.
The crowd throng roared, cheered, and howled in chorus. Their spirits were lifted. Their determination is back and boosted. Their hearts ablaze with fortitude.
Elsa’s eyes welled up, seeing how united the people in front of her. They look like a formidable force that no one could take down.
She looked at Chris when she felt his hand touched hers.
"Are you hungry?" Chris asked.
Elsa chuckled, "I cannot believe you would ask me that, now, at this very moment? Your timing sucks, Chris."
"Well, I think we are done here and you haven’t eaten anything since morning and it’s lunchtime," Chris explained.
"Okay, let’s eat," Elsa answered.
"You go ahead. I will just talk with Hoven real quick. I will follow you after."
Elsa nodded in agreement before exiting the great hall with her ladies-in-waiting and mages.
Hoven signaled Gavin, Blake, Tallor, and Aeson to lead their people out of the castle. Some will head back home to their camps while others will rejoin their packs on the battlefield.
"Hoven, me and Elsa will stay here for two more days. Her training will start and I don’t want to send her out there with unstable fire magic. She might end up killing not only the enemies but our allies too," Chris stated.
"I understand. There’s no need to worry, the Princes of Zemaria are there, and since there’s no need for a divine mage anymore, we will send back Mistress Valeria to the castle at once. The king will be happy to hear that since he was against sending her to the campsite but she was stubborn and did not listen to the king," Hoven elaborated.
Chris took a letter from his pocket and gave it to Hoven. "Give this to Prince Andrius or Prince Drake. No matter what happens, it must reach them."
Hoven frowned noting the seriousness in Chris’ voice. He decided to speak to him via their mind link. ’May I ask what’s written inside? You are not planning something stupid again, are you?’
’It’s a discreet request to prepare two ships on the northeast port,’ Chris said with a smirk on his face.
Hoven facepalmed himself. Chris’ smile is shouting danger. He knows that his best friend has something mischievous in mind... again!
’The fuck are you planning?’ Hoven groused.
’I will take Elsa to Qiryn.’
Hoven’s jaw dropped to the ground. He doesn’t know if he is just dreaming or Chris has totally lost his mind. ’Are you fucking insane? Are you giving up on your throne that’s why you want to commit suicide with your wife, our Luna? You will both die the moment you enter their territory!’ Hoven roared.
’I need their help, Hoven. Elsa is something else. She’s not an ordinary mage or human per se. I had suspected it when I first met her but then I felt it when I marked her. I already talked to Elandir about it and the Elven Council approved my request,’ Chris said.
Hoven inhaled deeply and exhaled slowly trying to calm down and stopping himself from smacking the head of their crown prince, ’When the hell did you speak with Elandir? How come we don’t know about this?’
’Well I sent him a letter about my request to use their portal again and if they will accept my offer then he reached out three days ago. We only spoke through the water in the spring though so he was not really here physically,’ Chris said casually.
Hoven’s mouth hung open once more. He can feel an incoming headache because of their future king. He can already see his future as his right-hand man and he can tell that it will be a life full of problem solving... Problems that Chris caused himself.
