Chapter 64: Coveting

"What has you feigning illness and burrowing your head in the blanket again?" Lucas asked, placing down the tray of food on the table.

Violet peeked out her head from under the blanket. Her hazel eyes were watery. Extending her hand, she latched on to Lucas’s neck and cried out, "Lucas, I am dead!"

The girl’s panicked state made Lucas feel funny and concerned at the same time. What could have happened for her to exaggerate it so much.

Lucas patted her back, asking, "What has you all riled up again, Princess?"

Hiding her face in Lucas’s neck, she softly whispered, "I kissed Alpha."

As a werewolf, Lucas was always proud of his hearing, but today, he felt as though his ears failed him. He blinked his eyes, unable to clearly process her words, and asked, "What? Repeat it again."

He grabbed on to Violet’s shoulder and pulled her back, staring at her solemnly.

Violet’s head fell down, like a wilted flower.

"I kissed Alpha," she stated.

Array of emotions went through Lucas’s face, but shock was the dominant one amongst them.

Seeing how Lucas remained silent made Violet raise her voice and speak out, "Well, he was laying down beside me, and his face looked so mesmerizing that I couldn’t hold myself back. And baam, I kiss him, and he opens his eyes.

Ah! Wait, hold on, he didn’t consent to it. Does this make it sexual harassment? I harassed the Alpha? I deserve to go to the prison! He was so kind to take me in, and here I am, sexually harassing him!"

"Shut up! Shut up! Shut up! Let me think."

Lucas felt as though his head had been overloaded.

"Alpha was laying down beside you? You kissed him? And you think it’s sexual harassment?" Lucas inquired. Now that he voiced it out, it sounded even more incredulous.

Violet nodded. Then, she corrected, "It is sexual harassment."

Lucas released her arms and pressed his forehead. "How the fuck did the Alpha end up on your bed?"

"Last night, Alpha’s wolf was in control of the body, and he insisted on sleeping with me. I swear I didn’t force him on the bed and did more inappropriate things to him. I just kissed him, nothing more!" Violet raised her hands defensively.

The corner of Lucas’s lips twitched.

Was it possible for to even take advantage of that beast?

What a fool!

Lucas was afraid it was Violet who got taken advantage of.

"Why would the Alpha do that?" Lucas was in disbelief. If the matter wasn’t about Sylas, Lucas would think Violet was pulling her leg.

Violet’s shoulder fell, and she shook her head. "I don’t know."

Lucas poked her forehead with his finger. "Are you an idiot? How could you let a man get on your bed so easily? What if he intended to do anything to you? You should have called for help! Do you know how dangerous Alpha’s wolf is?"

"Well, I am the one coveting him. Alpha is so beautiful and attractive— it’s him who should be aware of the danger. How could he get into my bed easily? And now, I have done it. He must be so disappointed in me."

Violet shook her head.

Lucas stared at Violet for a second. The girl’s long brown hair was messy, and those round hazel eyes held remorse in them.

These days, as she began to eat better, her chubby cheeks grew back, making her look youthful and radiant. With the red dusted on her cheeks, she resembled a delicate and cute doll. Being a little foolish and naive— Violet was the perfect target for big, bad wolves.

Unfortunately, she was unaware of her charms.

If the other party wasn’t Alpha, Lucas knew they wouldn’t spare her.

Lucas furrowed his brows, wondering why the Alpha’s wolf would seek Violet.

Sylas’s wolf was ferocious and unwelcoming, and its hostility increased, preferring to be a lone wolf after Julia passed away. Although Sylas appeared gentle on the outside, his wolf was far from that.

Lucas’s eyes fell on Violet. He understood there was no use in questioning her. She was more concerned about her kissing the Alpha.

Lucas sighed and sat down beside Violet. He then asked, "Do you like the Alpha?"

Violet’s eyes widened. Then, lowering her gaze, she nodded shyly as her cheeks burned. She softly responded, "A little."

Lucas sighed and shook his head. "Now, you have done it. Out of everyone, you had to choose Alpha. There was a perfect speciman, also known as me, Lucas, right in front of you, but you chose that heartless man?"

"I don’t know anything. I know I shouldn’t, but who told Alpha to be so beautiful, majestic, and gentle?" Violet muttered.

"What do you want me to do now?" Lucas helplessly asked.

He couldn’t blame Violet. The Alpha was perfect for tricking away hearts of young girls’ like Violet. Back in the pack, he was set as the ideal mate for many.

And now, that he became more grounded and mature, it was inevitable Violet would fall for him.

Violet felt silent.

Her thoughts were all haphazard.

"Do you want to chase after him?"

Violet shook her head.

"I am not worthy of the Alpha. Not only I am so weak now, but I also rely on the Alpha. Other than that, I am pregnant with some unknown man’s child. I can’t be that shameless," Violet expressed, "Alpha deserves better."

Hearing those self-depreciating words from Violet made Lucas feel disheartened. The girl should always remain bright and optimistic, not suffer in low self-esteem.

He extended his hand and squeezed her cheek between his palms.

"There is nothing wrong with you. If Alpha doesn’t like you, it’s not because you’re lacking. He just loves Luna Julia way too much and isn’t over her until now," Lucas said.

Violet blinked her eyes.

"I know," Violet replied.

"Anyway, don’t worry too much. If the Alpha was actually upset at you, he would throw you away from here. You know that, right?"

Violet nodded.
