The Rogue Alpha's Second Chance-Chapter 62: Advantage
Chapter 62: Advantage
Violet scooped up some of the stir-fried rabbit dish on the table and placed it on Sylas’s plate. Then, she said, "Alpha, this is the rabbit I caught. Taste it and let me know how it is, alright?"
As the Alpha used the fork to pick up the dish, Lucas frowned at Violet and pointed out, "That’s a dish cooked by me."
Violet smiled. "Then, I will give you half the credit, alright? After all, if the rabbit wasn’t good, it wouldn’t taste good either."
Lucas shook his head helplessly. "What a smooth tongue, Princess."
After Sylas took a bite out of the rabbit meat, the eager eyes of Violet staring at him, obviously fishing for a compliment made him voice out, "It’s tender and juicy. It is indeed a good rabbit."
Looking at the interaction between both of them, something clicked within Lucas. He couldn’t help but suddenly voice out, "Say, Princess, between Alpha and me, whom do you prefer?"
The scene today reminded him of the conversation he had with Lydia. Seeing the obvious bias she showed towards Sylas when he was nicer to Violet made him feel uncomfortably envious.
As Violet turned her head to look at him, Lucas felt nervous.
It can’t be that she will really choose Sylas over her.
"That’s a silly question to ask, Lucas. Obviously, both of you are the same in my eyes," Violet responded, "it was because the Alpha taught me how to hunt that I offered him first."
Lucas stared at her suspiciously. "You have learnt to lie."
Violet pouted.
"When did I lie? Ask Lydia. I treat you three the same," Violet defended herself.
"Well, it was Lydia who told me that you would choose Alpha over me if I chased after you. Now, thinking about it, that might be the case.
After all, when it comes to Alpha, it seems as though I do not exist in your eyes, Princess. I feel hurt and jealous from your actions."
Violet’s lips parted slightly when she saw the grief on Lucas’s face. This made her evaluate her behaviour and feel guilty.
"I am sorry, Lucas. From next time onwards, I will be nicer to you, alright? Let me know what your favorite food is. I will cook it for you personally. And no matter what you ask me to do, I will do it for you. Then—"
Before Violet could carry on further, Sylas interrupted her and spoke out, "If you want to continue to harrass her, get out of here. Let her and the rest eat in peace."
Lucas scrunched up his nose. "I was almost about to make her promise me something grand."
Violet furrowed her brows in confusion.
Lydia said, "Ignore him. If you are being inconsiderate to him, he deserves it. With the amount of women he had hurt, I will only be glad if you continue to reject him. This feels satisfying."
"Hey! Why do you keep on saying that she rejected me when she didn’t? Even Violet now said that she sees me same as the Alpha."
"Are you a damned fool? Can’t you see that she is simply trying to placate you? Certainly Alpha means a lot to her than me."
"That can’t be it. Remember a few days ago, she was ignoring the Alpha. Well, she never ignored me. Doesn’t that mean I more precious in her eyes?" Lucas argued.
"You’re really an idiot, aren’t you? They were just having their lover’s spat. Can’t you see they reconciled now and are sweeter than before? Stop being so dense and third-wheeling," Lydia retorted.
Listening to Lydia’s words caused Violet’s cheeks to heat up, and she involuntarily raised her head to look at Sylas. The man looked down on his food, elegantly relishing the food served on his plate.
It was as though the commotion going on had nothing to do with him.
Lucas slammed his hand on the table, triggered by Lydia’s words.
"No, it doesn’t make sense. How come she is choosing the Alpha over me? No way, no way. Violet likes me more."
"You are truly delusional, aren’t you? What’s there to like about you? The Alpha is a full package. He is more handsome, gentler, smarter, and stronger than you. There are obvious—"
Before Lydia was able to carry on further, Sylas placed down his fork on the table. Although there was a smile sitting on his face, there was oppression in those steely blue eyes of his.
"Lydia, Lucas, it seems that both of you have lost all sense of manners. Although it makes sense for Lucas to act childishly, it seems that you have lost control of yourself as well, Lydia. Both of you, get out of here since you are more interested in arguing about nonsense than eating."
Since this was the Alpha’s orders, Lucas and Lydia were not able to argue against it. The only thing they could do was abide by it and leave the house as said.
Sylas’s eyes then met with Violet’s.
He spoke out, "You can now eat in peace. Don’t mind them. None of them are aware of what they are saying when arguing."
Violet slowly nodded.
Something within her felt uncomfortable at how calm the Alpha was about the entire situation, but she soon brushed away the feeling, realizing how it was inappropriate.

As Lucas was washing the dishes, Violet stood at one side, helping him wipe the water off. Although Violet wanted to help him wash the dishes, he let her stand out, saying how it was not good for her health to touch cold water.
Although Violet felt there was nothing wrong with her health now, she couldn’t argue against Lucas. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
"It has been two months since you’re here. You’re timid as a little mouse, but now, you have integrated so well with everyone. It is truly pleasant to have you here, Violet," Lucas expressed.
Violet smiled and shook her head.
"It is everyone who saved me, gave me a place to stay, and accepted me here. Thank you for making me feel comforted. When I lost all hope, it was because of you I could feel confident. Thank you for being a family to me," Violet expressed.
"That’s only because you’re so likeable. We all needed you in our life," Lucas spoke out.
"That’s nice to know. Lucas, I truly hope you would be able to heal all the regrets in your life even if it is through me," Violet expressed, "maybe treating others as a replacement will never make up for the real thing, but as long as it eases something within you, I am fine."
Lucas’s hand paused for a second while cleaning the dishes.
"You know?"
Violet smiled. "You tend to let your thoughts out when you get drunk. I know you have lost someone precious to you, and you are making up for you regrets by treating me well."
"And you don’t mind?" Lucas asked. There was a slight hint of guilt in his voice.
Violet shook her head.
"Am I that petty? Why would I mind? It is me who is taking advantage of you instead. That’s why, Lucas, whenever you feel comfortable, let me know, and I will be there to listen to you. You can rely on me as well," Violet sincerely expressed, "there’s a lot of things I am able to do. Don’t treat me as something fragile that would break easily."
Lucas extended his hand and placed the bubbles on her nose.
"Understood, Princess. You’re truly making me adore you more and more. Maybe Lydia is right. I should try to pursue you. What about it? Do you want to be with me?" Lucas smiled at her.
Violet scrunched up her nose. "Stop kidding. You have your mate somewhere out there waiting for you. You can’t be doing this or else she will be hurt once she finds out."
Lucas placed his hand around her shoulder and pulled her close.
"I really don’t like the idea of having mates, having the fate arrange someone for me, but Princess, if you were my mate, I would have reconsidered my values. That bastard was so lucky."
Violet shook her head.
"You’re just saying that now. When you meet your mate, you will see that she is the best fit for you. My mate must have sucked, but I have seen plenty of relationships to understand well."
"Princess, are you really rejecting me? I will cry if you do."
Before Violet was able to muster up a response, she could feel her shirt getting slowly wetter, and she realized it was from the water in Lucas’s hand.
Violet frowned at it. "Lucas, remove your hand from my shoulder. My shirt is getting dirty."
As Lucas removed his hand from around her shoulder, her eyes fell on the moon on the sky. She would could see the round full moon.
This brought her memories back to one month ago. Although she pushed back what happenes that day to the back of her head, now looking at the moon reminded her of everything.
The way the Alpha looked at her day, the way he kissed her, and the way her heart went out of control— everything was starting to become more alive to her.
Violet’s cheeks heated up.
She wondered if Sylas was the same today as well. Although she had the curiosity within her to check up on the man, she did not have the courage to do so.
The last time was accidental, but if anything happened this time around, it would be deliberate. Sylas would be smart enough to recognize it.
Therefore, no matter how tempted she felt deep within her, she couldn’t jeopardize the relationship between them that was hard to form.
Although she couldn’t exactly pinpoint it, she wasn’t dense about the feelings she started to gain towards the Alpha. She knew she viewed Sylas differently— almost romantically— compared to Lucas and Lydia.
She did not understand what prompted her to have those feelings for him, but thinking about it, there was nothing unpleasant about the Alpha.
"What got you lost in thoughts again, Princess? Could it be that you are contemplating on whether or not to choose me?" Lucas teased.
Violet rolled her eyes. "Yes, yes, that’s what I was thinking about."
Lucas chuckled. "So, what is the decision you managed to reach?"
"Do you want to know?"
Lucas nodded.
Violet then winked at him.
"Well, it’s too bad then. You have to keep waiting for the answer," Violet teased him back.
Lucas scrunched up his nose.
"You have learned to become bad, Princess. I need to punish you."
With that, Lucas attacked her with the tickles.
