Chapter 58: Hospital

Violet had to leave the room when Sylas politely told her to get out with a smile.

A pout sat on her face- her round hazel eyes staring at the Alpha pleadingly- but he showed no signs of mercy.

As she closed the door behind her, Violet comforted herself. She already knew the Alpha wasn’t going to give her any answers so easily. The man was determined about being cryptic.

However, her chest felt light now, and Violet felt that she could almost fly away with all the giddiness bubbling inside her.

Making up with Sylas indeed felt good.

Although Sylas can be really moody at times, at least he genuinely wanted well for her.

As long as that was the case, she did not mind tolerating his mood.

Seeing how she could easily move around on her feet today, Violet knew it had to be Sylas’s contribution, or else given her health status, she would have to lie down on the bed for at least a week.

Violet was brought out of her thoughts when the door opened and Lucas entered the house. Violet leaped out the couch and rushed over to him.

"Slow down. You got injured yesterday," Lucas spoke out.

Violet’s glistened as she spun around. Although there was a sharp pain in her head, causing her to see black spots, Violet felt that she had never been so fine.

"I am alright," Violet responded.

Then, Violet’s face grew concerned, and she said, "How is Anna? I heard you were the one who took her to the hospital."

"She hasn’t woken up yet. According to the doctor, it’s from the trauma, but health wise, she is recovering fast. I made up an excuse to her parents, so that they wouldn’t be scared and suspicious."

Violet nodded. "Then, can I go and see her, or would it be too much of a trouble?"

"We can go see her once she wakes up," Lucas responded.

Then, Lucas poked her forehead with his finger and stared at her in anger. He reprimanded, "What made you decide to go and confront Mathew alone? Are you a fool?"

"He knew how you all were not here and wanted me to come within twenty minutes. I couldn’t put her life in danger," Violet said.

"Even if you went there, what could you do? You almost lost your life until the Alpha came to rescue you. How were you so foolish to believe he would release Anna once you deliver yourself in his hands?"

Violet sighed. "I knew that he didn’t have enough principles to let her go, but still, I had to do something. I couldn’t just ignore her."

Lucas shook his head. "I wish you could be more heartless and cruel, Princess. Having a sense of moral and guilt gets you nowhere."

Violet frowned. "That would make me no different from Mathew and the rest. I don’t want to be like them."

Her words made the man smile. "Alright, alright, I get it, Princess. You can be the way you want to be."

"Before I forget, Lucas, make me a few more explosives. I blast one off on Mathew’s face, and it worked well. Make me a few stronger ones, so that he becomes disfigured for life," Violet expressed.

Lucas pinched Violet’s cheek, causing the girl to let out a wince.

"Got it, Princess. Next time, you can blast him off to death."

°°°

Before dinner time, Violet diligently chose and picked the fresh strawberries from the small garden grown at the back of the house.

Then, bringing over the strawberries to the kitchen, she washed them cleanly, and while Lucas prepared dinner in the kitchen, she slowly cut the strawberries in one corner.

She delicately and beautifully plated them.

As Lucas brought over the dinner on to the table, Violet placed the strawberries towards Sylas’s side.

The dinner prepared for the night was pizza with a side of salad. As Sylas sat down and was about to eat, Violet slowly pushed the bowl of strawberries towards Sylas.

"Alpha, I cut up strawberries for you. Lucas said that you liked strawberries. These are sweet. I tried one of them."

Her bright hazel eyes blinked at him, showing her clear intent to please him.

"Look at you, Violet. I have done so much for you yet you never offered me anything. What is this favoritism?" Lucas voiced out his dissatisfaction.

Violet’s eyes then went towards Lucas. "What do you like to eat?"

"There is no need in asking me now," Lucas retorted.

Sylas reached out for the strawberry from the bowl and took a bite. Then, wearing his usual gentle smile, he commented, "It’s sweet indeed."

Violet’s heart skipped a beat, and her cheeks flushed red. As Alpha took a bite out of the strawberry, the juices dripped on his finger, creating an appetizing sight.

The Alpha was too fatal for her heart.

Violet lowered her head and nodded, feeling overwhelmed by her emotions.

"Both of you patched up again it seems," Lydia commented.

"What patching up? Nothing happened between us to begin with," Violet said with the clear intent of pleasing the Alpha.

°°°

When the next day came, Lucas learned Anna had woken up and informed Violet about it. Hearing this, Violet wished to go and visit the girl. She wondered how Anna would behave after finding out about it.

Lydia removed the bandage around her head to replace it with a band-aid.

"Alpha, you will be going along as well?" Violet asked.

"Trusting Lucas to take care of you would be a foolish decision. I don’t want to rescue you half dead again," Sylas said.

A wide grin formed on her face. "Okay, Alpha, I will count on you to protect me."

Lucas scrunched up his nose. "What’s with the atmosphere between you two?"

Following that, they boarded the car. As Lucas drove the car, Violet animatedly chatted with the Alpha about various small topics. It was as if she went through a deficiency by not talking with Sylas for so long and tried to make up for it.

Sylas did not stop her and listened to her, wearing his usual gentle expression. He nodded when needed.

"Why do I feel like I am third-wheeling here? Princess, was I thrown away by you?" questioned Lucas.

"Uh, Lucas, I thought it would be better to not disturb you since you’re driving." Violet made a poor excuse.

Then, her eyes darted towards Sylas, and she softly asked, "Am I talking way too much, Alpha? I will quieten down if you think so."

"You’re finally realizing?" Sylas teased.

"Then, should I shut up?"

"I will listen to you today. You ignored me for a long time after all," Sylas spoke out.

"I didn’t ignore you, Alpha," Violet defended, feeling guilty within.

How was the Alpha able to turn the tables so easily?

And then the conversation between them carried out until they reached the hospital.

Once they got out of the car, Violet’s steps faltered. She was afraid of what the child would think and say once she saw her.

"Are you nervous?" Sylas questioned.

Violet nodded.

"She knows you wanted to save her. You did not hurt her," Sylas comforted. "It was Mathew who harmed her, not you."

After reaching in front of Anna’s room, there were her parents. Violet greeted them eagerly and said, "I heard Anna had woken up. Can I go see her?"

Her mother spoke out, "Definitely. Your friend here rescued her. We are really grateful to you."

Violet shook her head. She couldn’t accept their thanks.

Then, after releasing a sad sigh, the woman continued, "But I have to remind you that Anna retains no memory of the incident. Therefore, please do not bring it up in front of her."

Violet nodded understandingly.

It was good for Anna to forget all about the event. Recalling what happened that day would only scare her.

Violet turned the knob of the door and stepped in.

"Anna," she called.

The girl laying on the bed turned her head towards Anna. Just when Violet thought the girl was about to greet her happily, her eyes widened, and she froze for a second.

Violet entered the room. "How are you-"

But before she was able to continue further, a loud scream left Anna’s mouth. Horror crossed through her eyes, and her body showed how alarmed she was.

"Get out of here! No, get you! Mom, dad, come save me! I am scared! Mom! Dad! Help me! She is here to take me away! No, she will kill me!"

Anna’s heartbreaking cries made Violet unable to move from her position. The expression on her face crumbled as she extended her hand.

"Anna, what’s the matter?"

Then, Anna’s mother instantly entered the room. Violet watched as the woman comforted the little girl, letting her know nothing will happen, while the doctor asked Violet to leave.

Sylas watched as Violet stepped out of the room with her shoulder’s slouched. There was depression written all over her face.

"She is scared of me," Violet stated- her voice came out in a crack.

Then, Violet continued, "It’s fine I suppose. Now, she won’t constantly want to see me, and it’s good for us. She will be safe from danger. No one would hurt her now to threaten me. And as a werewolf, I should have stayed away from a human."

Although she said that to Sylas, it seemed like she tried to convince herself.

"Where is Lucas?" Violet asked, not spotting the guy as she looked around.

"He had something to do, so he left," Sylas responded.

Violet nodded. "Then, let’s go, Alpha. Sorry, you had to waste your time for nothing."
