The Rogue Alpha's Second Chance-Chapter 31: Responsibility
Chapter 31 - Responsibility
The bright sunlight hitting her eyelids made Violet squint, feeling annoyed at her sleep being disturbed. A groan left her mouth as she twisted herself to shift position and avoid the light.
Violet pulled the blanket over her head when she almost fell from the narrow space. That alerted her, and her senses returned to her. The first thing that hit her was the scent of the wine.
Violet's eyes widened, and she realized that she was still in Sylas's room. Memories of last night hit her. Her eyes went towards her ankle, and she noticed that it was bandaged.
There was a tingling sensation in her chest.
Violet looked around the room to find no signs of the Alpha.
He let her be alone in his room.
Violet's eyes then fell on the photo on Sylas's desk.
That was him with his mate Julia whom he loved truly. She watched it for a while, not understanding the emotions clouding her thoughts.
Violet then shook her head and left the room.
Following that, she washed up and went outside to check whether or not the Alpha was still exercising. These days, unknowingly, she had made it a habit to watch him do his morning workout.
When Sylas spotted her, he gestured her with his finger to come over.
Violet obediently made her way over to him and stared at him for any task he wanted to assign her.
"Hold out your palm," he ordered.
And she did so.
Violet then felt the warm touch of a metal. Her curious hazel eyes saw the silver gun in her hand before shooting Sylas a questioning gaze.
"Although physical strength might not be your forte, this is something you can train in," Sylas voiced out.
Her line of sight lowered.
Sylas's consideration spread the seeds of warmth in her chest, slowly causing them to germinate. Violet could feel her eyes tingling.
Noticing her unstable emotions, Sylas said, "Come on. Let me show you how to use it."
Pulling her lips into a thin line, Violet looked at Sylas and nodded her head fervently.
Sylas then held her hand and guided her. The close proximity between them made Violet hold in her breath. Although her mind was affected by Sylas, she knew he had done it out of consideration for her.
Therefore, she was determined to learn everything he taught her and wanted to make him proud. She listened to everything with a fiery spirit, her hazel eyes burning in determination.
After a while, despite Violet wanting to go on for longer, Sylas patted her head and spoke out, "That is enough. It will be counterproductive if you keep on overdoing it."

Violet's hand stretched out to touch the top of her. Although she pretended to fix her hair, she truly wanted to savor the lingering touch of Sylas.
The man who was determined to maintain a distance with her initially now touched her so casually that he didn't even realize.
A soft smile made its way up the curve of her lips.
"Why are you smiling like a fool again?" Sylas questioned inquisitively.
"Alpha, thank you. This is the first time someone is teaching me with so much dedication. I will pay you..." Violet thought for a while before adding, "with lots of money once I get back my pack."
Sylas stated, "What was your pack thinking not teaching you basic defense skills? You still have Alpha blood running through you. What a shame!"
Violet was hesitant as she replied, "From a young age, everyone just assumed Mathew would be my mate. So, instead of me, he was treated as the Alpha.
My dad favored him and trained him. He was taught to be my protector. All I needed to was stay in the house comfortably, wait for Mathew to do everything for me. My dad thought that is how I will be happy.
That is just how it is with all the packs. The female wolves who are in the high position are brought up as a delicate flower. We don't need to go outside, fight, or get dirty. We should enjoy life inside our glass greenhouse."
"I will tell you something, Violet. Only you can protect yourself, no one else. Do not be foolish to hand over your safety to someone else, and then, be surprised when they betray you," Sylas solemnly advised, "try to fly away even when your wings are broken apart."
Violet blinked her eyes and nodded.
When Mathew pretended to love her, he was gentle and caring. He fulfilled all her wishes, but there was a limit to her freedom. Even her dad acquiesced with it. Therefore, Violet did not believe there was anything wrong with it.
But now, Violet feels her most of her life was her being locked away in a golden gilded cage. And now, Sylas let her know it was better to struggle to break out of the cage.
"Hmm," Violet stated.
"You can't trust me either, Violet. I can still stab you in the back remember that."
Violet wanted to argue, but Sylas's sharp steely blue eyes held her back.
She could only nod.
"And no matter what, you have to fight to get what you want in your hands. Who cares if it it's selfish or heartless when you have the world in your grasp?"
Violet nodded again.
"Alpha, next time I will bring out my notebook to write down everything you say. It all sounds so smart," Violet praised, feeling giddy in her chest.
Sylas let out a deep chuckle. "You're really a fool!"
"Alpha, you must be really thirsty after all this hard work. I will bring you a glass of lemonade."
If there is one thing to which Violet had grown to become proficient by now, it has to be the art of making lemonade.
Immediately after saying those words, she hurried into the house— her steps jumpy and excited.
At the same time, Lydia came out of the house and reminded her to be careful. Lydia's attention then went towards the Alpha.
She stated, "Alpha, it is pleasant to have you slowly accept Violet."
Sylas's calm eyes fell on Lydia. He said, "Do not read too much into it."
"Violet is a lovely girl. It's not surprising to easily warm up to her. Only someone as atrocious as her previous mate wouldn't value her like treasure," Lydia carried on.
"Lydia, be careful with your words." Sylas's words held a silent threat. "How she is has nothing to with me. Since I have taken responsibility to compensate for my mistake, I will carry it out until the end. Draw your conjectures elsewhere."
Sylas's gaze turned cold, warning Lydia to not cross the line.
Then, he stepped away.
Lydia stared at the Alpha's distancing back and mumbled, "Alpha, even without you realizing, you're starting to change."
