The Rising Phoenix-Chapter 929: Going To Shanghai Pavilion
"What is your plan right now?" Yao Huifang asked.
"Well... It seems the gathering material process will take quite some time. I just took five days off from school. So, I plan to stay the remaining days here. If it takes longer than expectedI will have to return to school first and then come back after Madam Si has prepared everything." Bai Xifeng explained.
"I see. In that case, would you like to stay at my house again?" Yao Huifang offered.
"No..." Bai Xifeng refused the invitation immediately, shaking her head with a firm look. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
Yao Huifang laughed heartily. She already knew why Bai Xifeng did not want to stay at her house.
"I am sorry for the thing that you experienced in my house earlier." Yao Huifang apologised with a twinkle of amusement still in her eyes. Then, she continued. "I own an inn in the city. I can arrange for you to stay there."
"Oh... Really? Thank you." Bai Xifeng nodded gratefully.
This way, she did not need to worry about finding a place to stay for the night. Feeling relieved, she continued eating and eventually finished three bowls of fried rice. She even ordered another five bowls for takeout to bring with her later.
After finishing the fried rice, Yao Huifang excused themselves to return to their house. Zhang Mingzhu was clearly upset when she learned that Bai Xifeng would be following them back. The young girl pouted unhappily. After coaxing and comforting her for a little while, Zhang Mingzhu finally agreed to go home with her mother.
Before leaving, Yao Huifang reminded Bai Xifeng to go to Mianxi Inn, as that was the inn she owned.
With some free time left, Bai Xifeng decided to take the opportunity to walk around the city. The city was quite large and very prosperous. Many busy streets were lined with shops selling all kinds of goods. The lively atmosphere made the place feel vibrant and full of life.
As she walked along the street, she suddenly spotted a familiar signboard.
Shanghai Pavilion. This establishment was indeed a franchise chain. Their branches seemed to be everywhere. Seeing the familiar name, Bai Xifeng decided to step inside and take a look around.
When she entered the building, there were already many customers inside browsing the displayed items. Some were carefully inspecting herbs and ingredients, while others were discussing purchases with the staff.
Several people noticed Bai Xifeng as soon as she stepped inside because of her outstanding appearance.
The customers were mesmerised by her beauty, but the staff had a completely different reaction. They were surprised, almost shocked, when they saw her.
Why? Because they had seen her portrait before.
Their manager had mentioned this lady many times while showing her portrait to the staff repeatedly. He had warned them that if this lady ever came to their establishment, they must treat her with the utmost respect.
It was because this lady was someone whom even their mysterious owner respected greatly. Naturally, none of them dared to offend such an important guest. They absolutely could not offend this lady and needed to treat her with absolute respect.
Realising who she was, the staff immediately rushed forward with polite and friendly smiles.
"Welcome, my lady." The staff greeted her respectfully.
"Hmm..." Bai Xifeng responded with a small nod.
"What are you looking for today, my lady?" The staff asked.
"I don’t have anything specific in mind. I just want to look around for a while." Bai Xifeng replied calmly.
"I see. Then please feel free to browse. If you find anything you like, please inform us." The staff said courteously.
"Sure." Bai Xifeng nodded again.
Bai Xifeng did not think too much about the staff’s unusually respectful attitude. Instead, she simply began observing the shop.
The first section she entered was the herbs section. She carefully examined the displayed herbs, wondering if there might be something interesting that could catch her attention.
Unfortunately, after looking through several shelves, she felt slightly disappointed. Nothing seemed particularly special to her. So, she walked toward another section.
However, just as she was about to turn around, a middle-aged man suddenly stepped into her path.
Bai Xifeng calmly stepped aside, giving way to the middle-aged man.
However, the man also stepped to the side, blocking her path again. She tried moving again. Once again, the man followed her movement and blocked her way.
After this happened several times, Bai Xifeng quickly realised that the middle-aged man was deliberately trying to mess with her.
"What do you want?" Bai Xifeng asked coldly.
"Young girl, tell me, is there anything that you want from this shop? I will buy it for you." The middle-aged man said with a lewd grin as he looked at Bai Xifeng.
"If I want to buy something, I will buy it myself. There is no need for you to buy it for me." Bai Xifeng stated.
"The things here are expensive. I don’t think you can afford to buy them." The middle-aged man said mockingly.
"There is no need for you to worry about me. You should be worrying about yourself instead." Bai Xifeng replied casually. Then she slowly looked the middle-aged man up and down. "From what I can see, you have been draining yourself in pleasure for far too long. If you continue like this, you might not end well."
Hearing Bai Xifeng speak so bluntly, the middle-aged man’s face immediately flushed red with embarrassment and anger.
"You girl! What nonsense are you talking about?" The middle-aged man scolded Bai Xifeng angrily.
Their argument quickly attracted the attention of several nearby customers. Seeing that people were starting to watch, the middle-aged man suddenly decided to raise his voice.
