The Revenge of the Reborn Supreme Sovereign-Chapter 335 - 326: She has nothing to do with me!
His voice was filled with extreme impatience and indifference as he chastised her sharply. Qin Fan let go, flinging the suffocating Yao Jianjia behind him before striding away with his hands in his pockets.
COUGH! COUGH!
Behind him, color slowly returned to Yao Jianjia's face as she gasped for fresh air, her expression a mask of terror.
Just a moment ago, she had truly taken a trip to the Ghost Gate and back. If it had lasted any longer, if Qin Fan had used any more force, she wouldn't be reporting for military training right now—she'd be reporting to King Yan himself! Having lived for nineteen years, the simple, single-minded third miss of the Yao family felt true fear for the first time in her life. It was the first time she had ever felt so close to death.
Recalling Qin Fan's icy, merciless rebuke, she couldn't help but shudder.
Forget about the Pill Furnace. Stop harassing him.
Could she really do that? The third miss was already having second thoughts.
"Class Leader!" Director Wang called out, looking back at Yao Jianjia, who was still in a daze.
"Ah, yes, here!" Startled back to her senses, Yao Jianjia immediately hurried over.
"What's wrong with you? Are you feeling unwell?" Director Wang asked with a concerned frown, noticing her pale face.
"No, I'm fine! I'm really okay!" Yao Jianjia forced a smile.
"If you're not feeling well, just say so. Don't push yourself," Director Wang pressed.
"Thank you, Director Wang, but I'm really fine!"
"Alright then. Since you're okay, I'll leave the rest to you," he said, nodding. "The registration point for military training is just ahead. Take your classmates over to report. An instructor will be there to take charge. I won't be going with you."
"Okay! I promise not to disappoint you, Director Wang!" Yao Jianjia grinned.
Director Wang gave a light, satisfied hum. Looking at the crowd, he raised his voice again. "Students, this military training is important for your credits, so I hope you all show your best spirit! I'll see you in a month! If you run into any problems, feel free to call or message me on WeChat anytime!"
"Yes, Director Wang!" the students shouted in unison.
"Good. I wish you all a great military training journey! Goodbye!"
With that, Director Wang waved and gracefully disappeared from the sight of the forty-odd students.
Yao Jianjia straightened her military training uniform. Filled with a sudden burst of energy, she called out to the dozens of students, "Company, forward march!"
To the sound of stomping boots, the spirited Yao Jianjia led the forty-odd temporary soldiers to the registration point.
"Reporting to the instructors! Finance and Economics Department, First-Year Class Seven, reporting for duty! Please give your instructions!" she shouted, saluting at a forty-five-degree angle toward the group of instructors.
"Ahem, well, there's no need to be so formal just yet." Caught off guard by Yao Jianjia's display, the instructors suppressed their laughter. This girl is interesting!
"Ah! Is that not how it's done? That's how it always happens in novels and on TV!" Yao Jianjia blinked, looking adorably clueless.
PFFT!
Several instructors couldn't hold back and burst out laughing.
An instructor in his early twenties cleared his throat and composed himself. Stepping forward, he announced, "Class Seven, right? I'll be in charge of your training for the next month! Everyone, at ease!" His voice grew sharp at the end, his expression turning serious.
SWISH!
As the forty or so freshmen shuffled into the 'at ease' position, he barked, "Attention!"
The sound of feet snapping together was not quite in unison. "Count off!" the instructor commanded.
"One!"
"Two!"
…
"Forty-three!"
"Reporting to the instructor! Forty-three expected, forty-three present! Awaiting instructions!" Yao Jianjia announced loudly and confidently once the count-off was complete.
"About-face!" After the students turned, the instructor walked around behind them. "Follow me!"
Without another word, he took the lead, running with a perfectly standard posture.
"Yinuo!" Qin Fan whispered, having cut in line behind Jiang Yino.
"Scum. Apologize to Jiayi before you speak to me," Jiang Yino shouted back while running, a full five seconds after he had called her name.
"Yinuo, you misunderstood. It's not what you think," Qin Fan said.
"Let's put aside whether it's what I think. What you did to her was wrong! Great God, I can understand your pride, but as a man, shouldn't you have some sense of responsibility? Or do you think getting a perfect score means the whole world should revolve around you?" Though she hadn't planned on replying, Jiang Yino lowered her voice out of basic respect, panting as she spoke.
"There's no need for me to apologize to her, and I won't," Qin Fan stated calmly after a brief pause.
His reason for cutting in behind Jiang Yino wasn't some sudden surge of romantic feeling. He knew that in a few moments, the instructor would command a sudden halt, and more than half the students would stumble. Knowing what was about to happen, Qin Fan couldn't bear to watch Jiang Yino fall.
"Then don't talk to me! If you don't even have that much integrity, what does it matter how amazing your grades are? You fail at the most basic level of being a decent person!" Jiang Yino snapped, putting a little more distance between them to make her stance clear.
In response, Qin Fan could only shake his head helplessly and stopped trying to explain further.
After a few minutes of jogging, they arrived at the training field. Just as the new students were panting and covered in sweat, the instructor came to an abrupt stop and yelled, "Halt!"
Halt?
Everyone instinctively tried to brake, but the sudden command made the untrained freshmen lose their balance. Like a row of dominoes, they stumbled and fell, one after another.
Only two people remained standing: Qin Fan and Yao Jianjia.
"Careful!" As Jiang Yino pitched forward, Qin Fan sidestepped, wrapped an arm around her waist, and pulled her to safety.
BANG!
THUD!
OUCH!
OUCH!!
A cacophony of bangs, thuds, and cries of pain erupted across the field.
"Hm?" Seeing that Qin Fan had not only reacted in time but had also saved the girl in front of him from his favorite, foolproof trick, the instructor showed a wry smile.
"You—you—!" Feeling the warmth of his hand on her waist, Jiang Yino stammered and instinctively glanced to her side. She saw Xu Jiayi, drenched in sweat, struggling to get up from the ground. Jiang Yino's face instantly turned crimson. She quickly pushed Qin Fan away. "Shouldn't you be helping Jiayi up?"
"She has nothing to do with me," Qin Fan stated flatly.
"But you two used to have that kind of relationship! At the very least, you were high school classmates. How can she have nothing to do with you? Does that mean I'm your concern just because we've only known each other for two days?" Jiang Yino demanded, her brows furrowed.
Her image of Qin Fan began to crumble. Flashy. A playboy. Those were the labels that suddenly surfaced in her mind.
