The Return Of the Invincible Heiress-Chapter 370
Arthur and Alaric’s plans to go back to the cinema to watch Chasing the Horizon were delayed.
On the third day after Christmas, the whole family went to watch a sci-fi movie. Afterwards, they went out to eat and drink.
On the fourth day after Christmas, Josie insisted on watching Bearbump. Arthur, Alaric, and Maria had to accompany her.
The following day, Wesley and Claire decided to watch a comedy, while Jarlen, Brandon, and Zayn had social commitments. Avery spent her days running errands.
Arthur and Alaric couldn’t leave the elderly and children all to Maria. Hence, they had no choice but to stay home, take care of the elderly, and fit in some workouts and basketball practice.
In the following days, it snowed, and the freezing cold made them reluctant to go outside.
After that, the weather turned to rain, which felt even colder than the snow.
Every day was the same.
It wasn’t until the 15th day after Christmas that the weather finally cleared up.
Arthur and Alaric finally dragged their weary bodies out the door and went to see Chasing the Horizon for the second time.
This time, they were well-prepared. As soon as the iconic scene appeared, they had their phones ready and took continuous shots of the girl in the picture.
The photo was very clear.
Arthur’s phone also captured it with great clarity.
They could see the girl’s face clearly in the photo.
The moment they saw her face, both brothers were stunned.
Arthur asked, "Doesn’t it look like her?"
Alaric nodded. "It really does. That face looks about 60–70% like Avery’s."
Arthur stammered, "C-could it be Zilvia?"
Alaric shook his head. "It can’t be such a coincidence, right?"
Arthur let out a bitter laugh. "You’re right. After searching for so many years with no leads, how could we suddenly just find her..."
The two brothers walked out of the theater in silence.
One went left.
One went right.
After walking a distance, they both slapped their foreheads.
Each of them asked, "Wait, where am I going?"
"Where’s Alaric?"
"Where’s Arthur?" 𝒇𝙧𝙚𝓮𝙬𝙚𝓫𝒏𝓸𝓿𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝙤𝓶
They quickly turned around and bumped into each other face-to-face.
After staring at each other for a moment, Alaric rubbed his hair in frustration and said, "I can’t take it anymore! I just can’t let this go. I have to find that girl, see her up close, and get the truth directly from her."
Zilvia’s matter had always been a lingering knot for the Carter family.
As long as it remained unresolved, the family could never truly be at peace.
Arthur agreed. "I think so too. Why don’t we investigate secretly?"
The issue with Zilvia was a painful one for the Carter family, and without getting to the bottom of it, they couldn’t risk letting anyone else in the family know.
Alaric nodded and placed an arm over Arthur’s shoulder. "Let’s go eat. We’ll talk while we eat."
Although they were both young, one was a well-known restaurant owner, and the other an emerging star in the sports world. Both had plenty of connections.
They discussed things at the restaurant for quite a while before finally coming up with a plan.
That evening, Arthur called Luna’s agent, Horace. After some pleasantries, he said, "I watched Chasing the Horizon and really liked the lead actress. I’d like to get to know her, so I’m calling to see if you know her."
Though the photo didn’t specify who the girl was, Arthur and Alaric figured she had to be the lead actress.
Horace was surprised. "You mean Joy? Haha, looks like you’ve finally got a crush!"
Arthur chuckled. "Horace, you know how it is just keep this between us, okay? If it gets out, I’ll be so embarrassed."
"I understand," Horace said with a knowing smile. "I do know a thing or two about Joy..."
He told Arthur everything he knew about her.
Meanwhile, Alaric also called his agent, asking for the personal information of the female lead of Chasing the Horizon.
"I want to invite her to do an advertisement," he explained. "If I can get her number, I’d like to contact her personally."
His club had provided him with a highly competent and well-connected agent. By the next morning, Alaric received Joy’s phone number.
After sharing the information they’d gathered, the two brothers felt a sense of disappointment.
Arthur sighed heavily, looking discouraged. "Looks like she has no connection to Zilvia at all."
Alaric ran his fingers through his hair. "I think so too, but... I can’t accept this outcome."
He gritted his teeth and added, "Since we’ve already started the investigation, why don’t we go straight to her and ask?"
Arthur hadn’t slept well the previous night and even had dark circles under his eyes.
"That’s what I have in mind too. After so many years, other than Avery, this is the first time I’ve seen a girl who looks so much like Zilvia. Especially that gaze and expression they’re really too similar," he said.
"If I don’t ask her in person, I’ll keep thinking about this."
The two brothers went ahead with their plan.
Two days later, Rosemont University reopened for the new semester.
At four in the afternoon, Arthur and Alaric told everyone they were going out for a game and a meal.
"We won’t be back for dinner tonight," they said casually. Then they headed straight to Rosemont University.
Joy was a prominent figure at Rosemont University, known and recognized by everyone.
It didn’t take the brothers much effort to find out where she was.
A student said, "Oh, Joy? She has classes today, so she must be at school, but I don’t know where exactly.
"If she shows up, she’ll probably be swarmed by students. She’s pretty low-key, so it’s not easy to find her. If you need to reach her, it’s better to call her directly."
Alaric and Arthur fiddled with their phones, hesitating to call. After lingering in a restaurant for a while and drinking a little, they finally mustered the courage to make the call to Joy.
They didn’t mention anything about Zilvia. Instead, they introduced themselves and explained that Joy resembled a very important, long-lost friend of theirs.
They wanted to meet her to talk about this friend and hoped Joy wouldn’t feel offended.
After calmly listening, Joy said with a smile, "You guys specially came to the school to look for me. I happen to be free, so let’s meet.
"The campus is crowded, and I don’t want to be gossiped about. Why don’t you come to my place instead? Just be careful on your way over and try not to be seen."
Arthur quickly replied, "Thank you. We’ll be careful and won’t let anyone see us."
Joy smiled. "Alright, I’ll wait for you."
The evening in February was cold, and most people wouldn’t venture out unless necessary.
With new students arriving, the staff was particularly busy that evening, leaving the staff dormitory area quiet and deserted.
Joy hacked into the school’s surveillance system. After accessing the cameras in the staff dormitory area, she poured herself a cup of coffee and stood by the window, sipping slowly. Soon, through the gap in the curtains, she saw Arthur and Alaric downstairs.
"They’ve chased me all the way here." Joy smiled faintly and muttered softly, "I really have to entertain them well."
At the same time, Avery received a call.
"We saw through the surveillance camera that Arthur and Alaric appeared downstairs at Joy’s place and went upstairs. It’s possible they’re looking for Joy."
Avery’s heart sank. "Send someone to keep watch below Joy’s place. If anything seems out of place, go in immediately," she ordered.
Then, Avery grabbed her coat, rushed downstairs, got into her car, and drove to Rosemont University.
