The Return Of the Invincible Heiress-Chapter 354
Chapter 354: Chapter 354
Archie’s assistants and servants shivered and didn’t dare make a sound. They stayed far away from the phone.
Alexander dragged Archie up the stairs.
"Alexander, you’re a devil! What are you trying to do?" Archie cried. "This is against the law! As long as I’m alive, I will definitely sue you!"
Alexander ignored him.
"I’m in pain. The stairs hurt so much..." Archie kept wailing. "Let go of me. I can climb the stairs myself..."
Alexander still ignored him.
It was as if he were dragging a dead log into the room. Then, he took out a bottle of medicine and stuffed a pill into Archie’s mouth.
"This is a sleeping pill. It’ll make you sleep for more than ten hours."
Archie would wake up the next day, but by then, he would have missed meetings with several major figures in the entertainment industry. No explanation, no one answering his calls the big shots would definitely think poorly of him.
If he had still been thinking about saving Andrew, his efforts would have been in vain.
He could only dream on.
Archie could do nothing as he was forced to take the pill and fell asleep.
Only then did Alexander let go. He picked up a clean towel, wiped his hands indifferently, and walked out slowly. Archie’s assistants and servants secretly heaved a sigh of relief when they saw him leave. They quietly wiped away their cold sweat.
They wondered how Archie had offended Moran to the point that Moran came over to beat him up.
Only Louis knew.
It was clear that Moran was angry.
He was furious that Andrew had slandered Avery in such a way.
Avery could deal with Andrew without Moran’s help but Moran needed to vent his anger on someone, and that someone was Archie.
Poor Archie still couldn’t figure out who Moran’s true love was.
The night passed just like that.
When Archie woke up the next morning, he ate breakfast first because he was too hungry. Only after filling his stomach did he remember to call the big names in the entertainment industry but none of them answered his calls.
Meanwhile, for the film Andrew had already half-finished shooting, the production team replaced his role. They used the excuse that Andrew had been recuperating too long, and they couldn’t afford to wait.
Soon after, Andrew posted an apology and exit statement on Twitter:
[Due to personal disputes between the two families, I accidentally learned that Zayn’s cousin was also dissatisfied with the Carter family. I privately met with him to discuss revenge and fabricated some false information, which led to the current situation.]
[I realize I was wrong. I sincerely apologize to Mr. Zayn Carter, his sister, and the entire Carter family.]
[As an apology, I will leave the entertainment industry starting today. I will reflect on my actions and work hard to become a better person. I won’t let down the expectations of my fans and the public.]
He also deleted all his previous Twitter posts and disabled comments.
Netizens were in heated discussion:
[From his statement, does he still hope to return to the industry someday?]
[I think that’s what he meant. But the entertainment industry changes so fast. He has no acting skills or standout roles. Who would take him back?]
[Every time he appears in public, people will bring up his scandal. There’s no chance for a comeback...]
Regardless of what the future held, Andrew’s reputation was completely ruined. Just like that, he vanished from the entertainment world.
Zoe, who had been following the news about Andrew, shook her head after reading his statement. She no longer had any expectations for him.
When a man was that foolish, no matter how attractive he was, all his appeal would disappear.
She wouldn’t waste any more time on Andrew.
Taking a deep breath, she stood up and went downstairs. She told her parents, "Dad, Mom, I accept the arrangement. I’ll go on a blind date with the man from the Randolph family."
Last summer, her relationship with Andrew had been exposed. For the sake of Andrew’s future, she had taken the initiative to announce their breakup, though they secretly kept in touch. Her parents disapproved of the relationship and had been trying to match her with someone from the Randolph family.
In the past, there were four prominent families in Rosemont City: the Harper, Murphy, Murray, and Randolph families. The Harper, Murphy, and Murray families had all seen better days their wealth had declined. But the Randolph family, which had never been particularly close to the others, was still doing relatively well.
The Murray family desperately wanted to build ties with the Randolphs through marriage to regain their former influence. The Randolphs, in turn, were quite satisfied with Zoe.
But Zoe had clung to Andrew and refused to go on the blind date.
Now, she decided to put her future and her family’s first. She would marry the heir of the Randolph family, even if he was a strong-willed, ordinary-looking divorcee with two children.
Avery, meanwhile, didn’t care about Zoe. She was quite satisfied with Andrew’s downfall. She called Maria.
"How’s the Stevens family doing?"
Maria smiled. "Avery, you’re amazing! Everything’s progressing just as you predicted."
"Ronan and Quentin and their wives fought fiercely over the two free spots in the nursing home."
"Gavin and Joel argued over which of them would get their parents as free nannies. They fought so much that the elders nearly had a breakdown."
"Then, the girl you arranged reported that the other grand prize winner had no elders at home and was willing to transfer the two spots for $80,000. Of course, Gavin and Joel weren’t willing to pay that much. After they ran off, I wrote the check and bought those two spots for Quentin and his wife."
Maria laughed. "They were so grateful. I told them I’d pay for it, but only if they promised to take good care of the grandparents in the nursing home and stay out of trouble. If anything happened outside the home, the center wouldn’t cover it, and I wouldn’t have the money to help again."
"They signed a contract with the nursing home. Arthur will arrange for someone to send them there tomorrow."
At that point, Maria let out a long sigh of relief. "The four most troublesome elders are finally leaving. They won’t be able to pester our family anymore. Mom won’t have to suffer their mental torment again."
Sowan Town was almost a full day’s journey from Rosemont City, and the route passed through winding mountain roads. The four elders were uneducated and didn’t use the internet. It would be impossible for them to contact the Carter family for help in the future.
Avery smiled. "Well done. Now, we’re only left with Gavin and Joel."
The trap she had set was about to close completely.
