The Retired CEO's Guide To Being Spoiled-Chapter 86: The Aftermath
Helen Lloyd was indeed worthy of being an all-encompassing chief secretary, handling every task assigned by her boss, whether public or private, in the light or in the shadows. While Ethan Caldwell and Julian Sterling were still busy rolling around in the sheets, on the other side, she had already begun to take action and manage everything.
It was clear she had been busy the entire day, but even as night fell, Helen did not dare to slack off. It seemed she had already drawn up a comprehensive plan to handle everything within her authority. Therefore, at this moment, when Ethan Caldwell asked about the progress of the work, Helen was able to report the situation with absolute clarity and precision.
Immediately after Ethan Caldwell carried Julian Sterling out of the old residential area, the bodyguards who remained behind subdued Aaron Sterling and took him away. Since there were no clear instructions yet, they did not harm him. They merely let Aaron "sleep" for a while to stop the noise. Naturally, to ensure he could not notify his accomplices or seek outside help, the bodyguards confiscated all phones and smartwatches found on Aaron’s person.
Helen Lloyd quickly reported the situation back to Ethan Caldwell. When he held Julian and left, the remaining bodyguards at the old house also restrained Aaron and took him away. For the time being, they hadn’t done anything to him yet, only letting him "sleep" a bit to keep things quiet. Of course, to ensure he wouldn’t alert his cohorts, the bodyguards had also collected every single phone and smartwatch he possessed.
All things considered, the bodyguards by Ethan Caldwell’s side were all professionally trained individuals. In a situation like this, they were careful enough to lock the person in a room equipped with signal-jamming devices. Consequently, even if Aaron had hidden communication devices or trackers on his body, they would not function.
Several hours had passed from the time they transported the person from the old house to the detention area. Typically, no one remains knocked out for such a long duration. However, this area was the "private territory" of the Caldwell family. The rooms here featured special designs, equipped with the most sensitive sensor devices currently available. Once the switch was activated, infrared sensors would scan continuously. The moment there was a fluctuation in the room, no matter how minute, the sensors would pick it up and alert the control unit. Immediately, hidden devices within the room would activate, spraying a small amount of legal sedatives - the kind used in psychiatric hospitals. This type of drug had the effect of calming patients; to put it bluntly, it was an anesthetic designed to send mental patients into a deep slumber.
Therefore, during the several hours that Ethan Caldwell and Julian Sterling were going at it with earth-shattering intensity, Aaron was dosed with the drug five times or so, sleeping to the point of losing all perception.
Helen asked Ethan Caldwell how he wanted to handle the person.
"Has anyone contacted him in the last few hours?"
Ethan Caldwell knew Aaron was merely a small participant in this affair. He could vaguely guess who the mastermind behind the scenes was. He just couldn’t understand why this person would make a move on Julian. What did the boy have that could threaten that person?
"There was a text message asking about the situation. I drafted a reply, and not long after, that number called. No one answered the phone. They called twice in succession, then vanished without a trace. We investigated; it’s a promotional SIM card number, unregistered to any official identity."
Hearing this, Ethan Caldwell said nothing. He contemplated for a moment, then turned his head to look at Julian, who was burying his head in sleep on the bed, and frowned. "Have those kidnappers confessed yet?"
"They have confessed. They said Aaron hired them to capture the person, and also told them..." Helen hesitated on the other end of the line before continuing: "They said Aaron instructed them that when he gave the signal, they were to immediately humiliate the Young Master."
Helen had completely changed her form of address, switching from Mr. Julian to Young Master.
The veins on Ethan Caldwell’s forehead bulged, and his body tensed up; he was clearly trying his best to suppress himself. Although Helen could not see her boss’s current appearance, just the sound of his deep, repressed inhale was enough to frighten her.
Tsk, a bunch of idiots.
They were truly skilled at digging their own graves.
On the other end, Ethan Caldwell thought for a moment: "Let him wake up. Interrogate him properly. Don’t pull any dirty tricks. I still intend to throw him in prison, so don’t give him a chance to bite back."
Naturally, Ethan Caldwell would not spare this person. To have such a heart at such a young age meant that growing up, he would surely become a rotten individual capable of any evil. He might as well take this opportunity to cleanse a tumor from society.
However, Ethan did not want to resolve it right now. Firstly, he couldn’t let Aaron live so easily. Secondly, it was because of the mastermind behind the scenes. Thirdly... he wanted to let Julian decide for himself.
Ethan Caldwell thought the boy wouldn’t let slip the opportunity to fix Aaron.
Thinking of this, Ethan lifted his head to look at the lump of blankets on the bed. Julian was sleeping very soundly, his red lips slightly parted, revealing the innocence of youth. At this moment, he suddenly remembered that his husband seemed to be only eighteen, well, nearly nineteen.
While Ethan Caldwell was contemplating life and the story of how he almost had to spend time behind bars, the ball of cotton on the bed squirmed slightly and opened his eyes.
Julian looked around groggily, then saw Ethan Caldwell standing far away. Obscured by the sunlight, he couldn’t see the man’s face clearly, only the lines of his toned muscles.
That’s right, he still wasn’t wearing any clothes. Earlier, when calling Helen, Ethan had still been lying on the bed. Later, fearing he would disturb Julian with the noise, he had walked a bit further away.
Julian rubbed his face against the blanket for a moment, then shifted his body slightly to rise. His waist was numb, and his whole body felt like a doll that had been assembled incorrectly. Moving just a little made his joints crack. Julian had to take several deep breaths before he could prop himself up, reluctantly sitting up a little.
His buttocks hurt, that place hurt, and there was a feeling of fullness.
Julian pouted, casting his eyes toward the man who had been standing still all this time. His gaze traveled down to the thing between the man’s legs. Even though it had softened, its size was not small in the slightest.
It felt good, sure, but the consequences were exhausting.
Julian’s face drooped, and he reached out his hands toward him. "Hold me."
