Chapter 289: Chapter 289: A Complete Farce

The man’s face had darkened completely by this point, with thick black clouds seemingly gathering in the depths of his eyes, clearly revealing his immense displeasure at having his person disturbed. The surrounding atmosphere felt so oppressive that it was almost suffocating.

He completely ignored Helena Thornton’s terrified, pale face, subsequently giving a harsh, grating order: "Colin Grant, Helen Lloyd has also arrived in Kensington City by now. You are to contact Helen immediately and tell her to represent me with full authority to completely resolve this noisy farce today. My patience has a limit. I hope the Thornton family knows what is good for them and brings us a truly clear and satisfactory explanation."

His sharp gaze swept directly past Helena Thornton. This final concluding sentence, carrying a profound sense of warning, was obviously directed straight at the true heir standing over there, Gemma Thornton.

Too lazy to waste even a single second arguing with the chaotic crowd outside, Ethan Caldwell directly pulled Julian Sterling inside and slammed the door shut.

The loud crashing sound echoed harshly, shaking the entire wall. The force of the closure was incredibly violent, completely expressing the man’s extreme annoyance and suppressed fury.

Out in the hallway, after witnessing the entire incident and receiving a direct warning from their major partner, Gemma Thornton’s expression was not pleasant to look at in the slightest. She furrowed her brows and glanced over the mixed crowd in front of her, noticing that the situation was increasingly attracting the prying eyes of numerous passersby.

Seeing that a few of her own subordinate bodyguards had just rushed over, she immediately shouted loudly, venting all of her frustration: "What are you idiots still standing there for? Hurry up and step forward to escort Helena back home for me right this instant! At the same time, make a direct phone call to my father and tell him to go clean up and handle the ridiculous, messy aftermath that his younger sister just caused tonight!"

Leaving behind that decisive command, she immediately spun on her heel, grabbed Thea Lockwood’s hand, and pulled Thea into the room before ruthlessly slamming her own door shut with great force, directly locking the dumbfounded crowd outside in the cold hallway, leaving them to fend for themselves.

While the tempest outside was gradually being pacified by the Caldwell Empire’s team, right now, inside Ethan Caldwell’s VIP presidential suite, there was a completely different scene.

With no more camera lenses and no more curious gazes from outsiders, after Julian Sterling watched the man safely lock the door, the shy and timid act from earlier vanished into thin air. He lazily stretched out his two white arms and took the opportunity to tightly embrace the man’s neck. Hanging his entire body weight onto Ethan Caldwell, he rubbed lips against the hollow of Ethan’s neck and whined coquettishly: "Carry me, my legs are completely exhausted."

The hand supporting his waist tightened slightly as Ethan Caldwell let out a helpless sigh, his tone laced with absolute pampering as he spoke: "I already told you that it was messy outside, that you should just stay on the bed and rest. You did not need to go through the trouble of walking out there. They would not have been able to bother us for long anyway."

"Oh come on, since a play has been put on, it must be acted out until the very end."

Julian Sterling looked up at him with sparkling bright eyes, murmuring in a soft, incredibly spoiled voice.

Faced with this unconditional coquettishness, Ethan Caldwell knew not what else to do but completely indulge and pamper him. He firmly picked Julian up in his arms and walked into the bedroom. Just as he reached the edge of the bed, intending to place the youth down onto the soft mattress, the man was hurriedly stopped by Julian patting his shoulder.

He rolled his eyes to observe the room for a moment, then extended a perfectly straight index finger, raising his eyebrows to signal for Ethan Caldwell to carry him closer to the decorative wooden shelf set against the corner of the wall, where that damned hidden camera was concealed.

Ethan Caldwell cooperatively stepped forward. As soon as they were within reach, Julian Sterling did not hesitate for a moment. With an extremely decisive movement, he thrust his hand into the middle of the vase and ruthlessly yanked the secretly recording camera right out of its camouflaged position.

This device was incredibly sophisticated. Its size was merely as small as the tip of a pinky finger, and it had been carefully and meticulously stuffed deep inside the pistil of a delicately crafted decorative flower.

A casual glance with the naked eye would certainly never be able to detect anything unusual. Julian Sterling cast a disdainful look at the cheap piece of technological equipment in his hand, then nonchalantly threw it straight down onto the carpeted floor. He lifted his chin and patted Ethan Caldwell’s chest, gesturing for the man to lift his foot and crush it.

How could such a tiny, fragile camera possibly withstand the destructive force of a grown man’s powerful stomp? A sharp crack echoed through the air, and in no time at all, the outer plastic casing and the internal electronic components were crushed into tiny fragmented pieces, completely turning into a pile of useless scrap.

Ethan Caldwell retracted his foot, lowered his eyes to look at the pile of debris on the floor, and asked in a deep voice: "Did our side manage to handle and completely disable the data transmission system of this thing in time?"

Having dealt with the eyesore, Ethan Caldwell finally walked over slowly and gently released Julian back down onto the large, soft bed.

He even thoughtfully leaned down, carefully retrieving an extra velvet pillow to prop up behind his back so that Julian Sterling could lean against the headboard in the most comfortable manner possible. Julian sat up straight and nodded his head in satisfaction.

He reached out to grab the mobile phone resting on the nightstand, quickly unlocking it to check the series of situation report messages that had just been sent by Helen Lloyd and the technical team.

Julian Sterling smirked faintly and replied to Ethan: "A few minutes ago, its signal transmission line was completely neutralized by our side. My friend successfully hacked into it, tracing it straight back from the remote control device of the mastermind who installed it. Not only did they sever the connection, but they also cleanly wiped and permanently destroyed the entire archive of image data on the cloud server. No matter how much they try to dig, they will not be able to retain a single piece of video evidence that could be detrimental to us."
