Chapter 35 - Calm before the Storm, Storm before the Hurricane (1)

The shimmering cold air in the Empire of Tamara dampened, as a puff of smoke appeared among the ruins of the colosseum. Alice, sitting, moaned in pleasure with the cigarette in her mouth, as Alfina, a dragon elder who once scorched the demons, was now messaging her shoulders from behind. The icy fogs around them grew thinner with each grasp, as the pleasure grew denser with each exhale of smoke.

"Ah...yes...that hits the spot after a good sport..."

Alfina narrowed her eyes as a sweat of coldness trickled down her scaled cheeks, the smoke of the cigarette an oddity in their sacred ground. As she glanced forward, her siblings, aged between decades to centuries old, are...in less than ideal state. The emerald-eyed warrior Jadyn was frozen in a large shard crystal upside down, the pitiful result of her 'cocky flip' against Alice's bombardment. The ashen eyed dragon Yasen curled up into a ball, her eyes twitching like a patient with PTSD. And the slit-eyed noble Nyoka...well.

Alfina glanced downwards at Alice's seat, her expression unreadable, as Nyoka blushed on all fours, her tail wrapped around her body like a snake in a tight coil. Her scales were covered with frost, and her eyes remained closed as if in ecstasy. Alice took a drag from her cigarette, the smoke curling around her as she grinned at Alfina.

"Alice...uh." The azure eyes of Alfina met the icy eyes of the hero, her tone a mix of embarrassment and curiosity. The dragon's claws paused in their ministrations, unsure how to proceed in this unprecedented situation.

"Keep going."

"Ah, yes."

The only survivor of the 'Bombardment exercise', Alfina, nodded solemnly as she continued her massage on the hero's neck, the few frosty glitters on her scale a testament to her skill of 'getting the hell out of the way', and 'throwing her siblings as shields'.

"So, what were you talking about before I threw a little rock into your home? Why're you all bundled up in a room?" The hero's voice was calm, yet the dragon's hearts raced, knowing the volatile nature of their guest.

"It's about your father, Alice. We need to talk about his condition and what happened to him after his unfortunate demise." Alfina's voice was measured, trying to keep the conversation on track despite the awkwardness of the situation.

Alice's eyes narrowed, the cigarette still smoldering between her lips. "You're not going to tell me my father's now in 'better arms', are you? Did Alexa...hook her down there already?"

"As much as we wa-I mean, no, Alice. So far only bumps, chest and kisses." Alfina said solemnly, her claws still working away at the tension in the hero's neck. "We're also talking about vampire threats in the town of Rouen. Ah-this is the main reason why Yasen contacted you with 'Far-seeing Eyes' in the first place."

"Oh...so bumps, chest and kisses, that's fast for three days...wait-" Alice's brow curled from an amused frown to a furious glower, her hand shooting up to grab Alfina's wrist. "What do you mean, vampire threats in Rouen?"

Alfina paused, her eyes wide with nervousness. She hadn't expected the conversation to turn so serious so quickly. "Alice, ah-remember the massacres we did on the vampire clans in the war? Turns out there are nobles who didn't participate in the war, and...because you literally splattered their corpses into frosty dusts, we...kinda have to investigate with the royal house and-"

"Use the Haunted Graveyards to check the dead souls of vamoires, so as to confirm who remained, yeah?" Alice's eyes gleamed with understanding and a hint of amusement at Alfina's attempt at delicacy. "If so, I recommend not. I heard from the Queen it is strictly forbidden to check the vampires' dead presence, and...checking that now might come wirh some terrifying results."

"Results? What kind of results?" Alfina's claws froze even as Alice's hand let go, her years of diplomacy flaring at her for a brief second.

"The Royal Geezers wanted this as their 'oh, so dark' secret, even I don't know so no, I can't tell you. Instead." Alice's right leg crooked and stepped onto Nyoka who responded with a moan, the cigarette dangling from her mouth as she leaned back into Alfina's chest. "I have a sense of inkling that's what caused the vampire's outrage despite them being weak fiddles in both of the wars they fought. So."

Alice took a glance at the carnage she brought, scanned her eyes among the rubble, before pointing at the ashen eyed 'fetal'. "I'll take Yasen with me. I hate loose ends, so let's tie this up fast and we'll continue talking about my...father. Yeah I'm still calling her father."

"Ah, Alice. The situation is more complicated than just tying up loose ends." Alfina's voice was a mix of caution and concern. "The vampires have always been a sensitive issue, especially since the Great War. Your presecne may prompt the vampires into action, even more dangerous when we have no idea what they are plotting there."

"Oh please, my mana can coat me and Yasen easily in invisibility." Alice stretched her arms, the cigarette still dangling from her lips, the smoke curling up to the ruined ceiling with frosty edges. "I may not have control as much as my father did, but five to six day trip to Rouen is nothing for me and my mana."

As if an invisibility wouldn't last only 5 hours even for a dragon elder, Alfina nodded reluctantly, her thoughts racing. "If you insist, Alice. And another thing. The witch...your father and Adrei are also at the site of the incident, so do be mindful of your...uh, relationship dynamics when you get there."

"...they what?!" Alice's voice grew sharp, the cigarette between her lips suddenly forgotten as she sat up straight, the frosty air around Nyoka dissipating. The slit-eyed dragon whimpering at the lost contact.

"They're at Town of Rouen, Alice." Alfina spoke calmly, trying to diffuse the sudden tension. "They suspect that the vampire uprising might be connected to the merchant, Manasseh. Our monitors cracked after your um...rock, but I suspect they're now cooperating with Lady Adil there to tackle the issue together."

"Oh...oh oh oh..."

Alice's expression went through a myriad of changes, from shock to anger to something resembling betrayal. She snatched the cigarette from her mouth and pointed it at Alfina. "You knew about this and didn't tell me sooner?"

"...you won't throw another meteor at us for this, will you?" Alfina raised her hands in a wry smile, her eyes flicking over to Jadyn and Yasen, who remained unresponsive to the conversation. And Nyoka...well, is being Nyoka and panting.

"I won't. Instead." Then, like a daughter who discovered her mom's bedside has a po*n magazine, she closed her eyes, her icy mana expanding outwards. Gusts of wind picked up around her, the frost on the ground crackled under the pressure of her power. "Just a little glance won't hurt..."

Then, her icy mana stretched like tendrils, the tendrils folding upwards into the sky as they collapsed into one another before converging and dispersing, a beautiful yet chilling dance, for a daughter who just wishes to invade her 'father's' privacy. Alice's vision invited itself into the fabric of the town, a 'movie screen' playing out among her eyes as her father described, and what she saw was nothing short of...expected.

"Uwoh...uwoooooh! This? This is that old man?! Holy shit, she's cute!"

The sudden exclamation from Alice caused a number of reaction. The ashen eyed fetal glanced up, her fear temporarily forgotten. Nyoka's tail loosened slightly, her cheeks still red from embarrassment, nodded fervantly as if agreeing with her taste in beauty (for her father). And the 'frozen statue', Jadyn, her upside-down body which is supposed to be immobile, gave a thumbs up, which was oddly terrifying considering she was embedded within a crystal that once encased the Everflame Mountains.

"Mmm...Alice?" Alfina, now hor...now curious about the sudden outburst, peeked around Alice's shoulder. "How do you feel? It's a...uh, body my and Coriel paid close attention to modeling, each and every muscle, nails, hairs and most importantly, feet are based on Alexa's descriptions of an ideal human form. So, it's quite flattering if you say so yourself-"

"Shush! I'm getting to the good part!" Ignoring Alfina's unwise attempt to join the conversation, Alice leaned in closer to the 'movie Screen', her eyes gleaming with excitement.

"Uwoh...Uwoooooh! So large, so soft, so...wet. Ah...this is a bliss..."

Alice, the humanity's hero, the butcher of demons, the bringer of peace, and mostly notably, Demond's daughter, was now peeking, or she would claim, admiring a tub scene that she had no right to see, especially considering one of the occupants was her father. Her cheeks burned, but not from embarassment or anger, but from a burning curiosity that even the coldest of ice couldn't quench.

And just as she was about to indulge in a moment she should not, the scene before her eyes was interrupted by a sudden splash, the camera angle went haywire, and a furious snarl echoed through the connection. The sound of scales colliding with porcelain, the shattering of the bathtub, and the witch's shrieks filled her vision before it abruptly went dark.

"...ah, she cut off." Alice looked up at Alfina, her eyes wide with astonishment. The dragon looked equally surprised, her claws frozen mid-air from where they had been ready to cover her own eyes.

"Tch. Selfish old man. J-just a little peek at your new body, what could be wrong for your daug..."

Then, an overwhelming sense of dread washed over Alice. Her father, and she the daughter. Her heart skipped a beat, the frozen ground beneath her cracking just like her sanity. "He's gonna kill me." She murmured to herself, the cigarette forgotten in her hand, now a frozen stick of ice.

...no, that's not real problem. Her father, and she the daughter. Alice the hero then micmiced the ashen eyed fetal, as she now, also, curled up into a fetal. A furious blush painted her cheeks, the cigarette in her hand frosting over as the coldness of reality sank in. "I-I shouldn't have done that. That's not right. I mean she's...she's cute, not Elsara-cute, but...ah...why do I get horny with..."

This existential crisis lasted for the whole night, as Alice lay awake, her mind racing with thoughts of her father's newfound form and the implications of their shared attraction. The cold, hard floor of the ruins did little to quell the heat in her cheeks. Her siblings, Jadyn and Nyoka, remained in their frozen states, oblivious to the tumultuous emotions playing out before them. The only one who might have understood was Yasen, but she remained lost in her own traumatic experience, her eyes unfocused and unseeing.

...fuck this. Alfina, as if tired of an old gag, sighed as she looked down at the young hero , who is now definitely not a child anymore, but a woman with a very, very, human problem.
